thinking about applying this year, few questions: are the kids nice? easy to get along with or are there camp pranks/fights etc.? what do you do on the weekends?
So I got accepted to kiosk for this year(2011). Just had some questions. Anyone know the best transportation there? Did you see any women over the 8 week period? And did you see alot of wildlife such as bears or moose?
Depends on where you are coming from. When I did it in 2005, I took a bus to North Bay from Smiths Falls. They had met the guys at the bus depot in North Bay with vans and trucks.
Yes, you do see woman....but not often. But things may have changed.
Applied for this summer, waiting on reply, will know 21st April, Fingers crossed! this looks like an amazing experiance! anyone know how much the pay is? though not to important still going to be kick ass, just curious.
Does anyone know anything about the ratios of acceptance? It's going to be driving me wild until I at least find out if I'm in or not..it's basically all I've been thinking about since I applied, I'm so excited for it!
i think they hire almost everyone, depends on how many apply and what camp is closest to you and everything. You should call (705) 755 2014 if you are applying for Ontario Rangers Program and ask them, they would know. The more you ask them...the better the chances and shows them u are interested. Did rhey tell you when they would get back to you when they would know?
well I actually only sent it today..but it's been all I've been thinking about for at least a week. Do they write back and tell you when they'll let us know?
i would call them to make sure cuz they have only made one change to the site since 2005 which was the new video. The kiosk site has totally changed since 2005. if u noticed on the camp profile that there are no stair down to the rec hall but in my video there are stairs, thats cuz i was one of the rangers who built the stairs. but they havent taken pics of it.
When I worked there it was amazing, even though the ministry pays minimum wage...it's an awesome job. best job i've had so far. I don't smoke, I don't think they let you smoke but you should call (705) 755 2014 if you are applying for Ontario Rangers Program and ask them, they would know. Alot probably has changed since 2005

The best quote I have ever heard about it was:
Ontario Rangers...for those who have experienced it, no explanation needed. For those who have not, no explanation possible.

When I used to work with Youth Programs at the MNR, it was first come first served. So make sure your application is there ASAP.
