This is Raag Lalit. Now, if Shuddh Ma of Lalit is assumed to be Sa , then we get Raag Mia ki Todi. This is derived from 'Murchhanna' Ved ...an ancient but very mathematical evaluation and relation between scales. Technically speaking , Todi is the 'Madhyam Murchhana' of Lalit. Notwithstanding all the technical jargon , THIS SONG IS A GEM

This is lalit and another song is "tu hai mera prem devata" a song in film kalpana for dance contest between Padmini and Ragini who were known as Travencore sisters! Ragini was the younger and Padmini went on to star in the Raj Kapoor opus magnum "Jis desh mein ganga bahti hai"! she was the protagonist singing " AA ab laut chalein" a song for the natives return by shailendra!
MOST NRIs shed tears when they hear that emotional tug at heart strings!

If I am not mistaken this is the first juganbandi in raag Latitand between Lata & Mannaday. While listening to this fabulous melody you would observe (if you can distinguish the power of classical touch) with a naked eye that this sort of calibre in classical way of singing belongs to this couple. yes u r very correct. Bhabhi ki chudiya is hindi version of another all time great emotional Marathi film "Vahininchya Bangdya" in which great Sulochana had performed Vahini that is Bhabhi and I remember to have read that even Meenakumari(Bhabhi) had appriciated Sulochana's acting saying Sulochana's acting was more than hers. Lalit seems to be Todi without the pancham. At least that is what looks to be from the rendition. Maybe the masters can comment.
