  • does the pedal have a big jump in volume or is it more just a gain knob then gain/volume?

  • Really nice, why or why did I sell mine!!!

  • I'm Yours And I'm Hers!

  • I can assure you that has nothing to do with the pedal, that jumpy volume simply comes from the way Youtube compressed the sound so heavily 3 years ago. ;)

    Cheers,

    Xan :)

  • Is it just me or is the sound just jumping on the last mode? I was really wanting to get this pedal but if it does that, I'm not so sure.

  • hello, this is a great demo. i really like the sound this pedal gives..very different from your ordinary TS style clone but i've heard some reviews stating that this pedal has volume issues..is this ture? i just need an honest answer before i buy. thanks!

  • @smogfalls

Either way, I want this pedal like crazy! lol Thanks for posting:)

  • schematic and layouts are at freestompboxes[dot]org. If you are looking for the Fender Tweed sound, I´d recommend the Catalinbread Formula No.5 instead. I´ve built both and the Catalinbread is much closer to the amp sound. You can find schematic and vero layout on freestompboxes as well - and a picture of my tweed-style pedal :-)))

  • This is the best demo of this pedal I think I've seen/heard. There seems to be a lot more attention paid to the effect of playing dynamics and guitar volume.

  • no it's really not based on the Deluxe Reverb at all! It's based on the old Fender Tweed 5e3.... a completely different sound to a deluxe reverb. To get any sort of drive at all on a Deluxe Reverb you'd need to really crank the volume or use an attenuator... and even then, it's nowhere near the sound of a cranked tweed.

  • @smogfalls I agree that it´s a nice sounding pedal. But "based on a 5e3" ? ;-) Don´t believe the hype! It´s based on an old and well-known circuit in the DIY-scene, called "Electra Distortion". One transistor driving a switchable pair of clipping diodes, that´s all. And it´s made with cheap smd parts in far east... I just built a clone with high-quality parts: The parts in the signal chain cost me less than 1$, the whole pedal less than 15$. And the build quality is much higher...

  • @Linsenpuppe care to elaborate on the build? Parts and schematic?

  • @Linsenpuppe you have a demo of your diy pedal?

  • @smogfalls

I think people get confused b/c the 5e3 is often referred to as "the Deluxe," ya know.?. Easy mistake to make.

Silly Fender and their delightfully simplistic nomenclature:P:D

  • you bought a les lius, when you already have a deluxe reverb..?? isnt the les lius just based on the deluxe reverb overdrive??

  • My setup loves my Les Luis. Out of the last two years it has remained on my board the longest. For a low gain OD it is killer. Odd folks have issues with it being bright. Mine if fat and juicy. It is an older model as in the vid.

  • wanna sell it?

  • I have the same trouble .. It hates my Maz 38..OK with a Bassman ...

  • Sounds great in the demos here... but my Vox AC-15CC hates it. Very brittle highs and certain frequencies get totally lost. Any experience on this with other EL84 amps?

  • I factually found a solution to this... use an eq pedal after the Les Lius to cut down the highs. This way you can also lower the pretty huge volume hump the Les Lius gives you. I also ran a Bad Monkey with the gain rolled back and high knob pretty low after the Lius with success. Still adds some gain to the Les Lius though. I seems that the Vox top boost preamp is not particularly pedal friendly.

  • Like all my other Lovepedal effects the Les Lius hates my Ceriatone 18W TMB.

Lovepedal effects are instead fantastic with Marshall vintage modern, Laney Lionheart and Fender Blues Junior.

  • Yeah... I actually sold the AC-15 and now I currently have the Lionheart. So, funny you should mention it. :) The Les Lius works like a charm with the Laney, especially with the drive channel.

I still don´t like the fact that this pedal does not have a level control... the volume bump is pretty significant which makes this pedal not so usable in a live situation. Anyways, the pedal sounds REALLY NICE so I think I will end up keeping it...

  • @ploukusa The Custom Classics are like that with any pedals. Look up Vox AC15CC1 Bright Cap Mod. It'll fix that.

  • @rokr432 Thanks. I actually did that mod, but it did not fully resolve the problem with this pedal. I put another od with eq after the Les Lius and that did help. However, i got rid of the AC15 shortly after, simply was not my thing...

  • Great job!

  • What settings do you use on your amp for master volume and volume(gain)? Sounds good it has vintage useable tones I'm hearing alot from this pedal that could cover classic rock. I wondered will it go into high overdrive ;)

  • sounds great

  • thanks for the vid. love the zz top tones

  • I'm waiting too - thanks for posting!

  • Been waiting for mine...Glad to see a demo of this...Great tones bro...
