I agree: he has a good voice..NOT great! The high notes here are sang with soul & strength - Andres lacks this & this aria REQUIRES strong delivery..he does it mid-range which for non-professionals sounds ok..he should stick to pop which is what people like..the fact that he is blind is irrelevant: Stevie Wonder, Roy Orbison, Jose Feliciano...these are excellent vocalists and are blind, too...
Wow, I came across this and upon reading the comments felt that I was on the playground with 9 year olds! When someones voice touches you, it is a personal and individual expirence where snobbery has no place. Whatever you think you know about Bocelli's voice, it is a voice that has touched millions and has brought classial music to the attention of many people who had never expirenced its beauty.
The fact that is blind is relevant. I don't say that Bocelli has a bad voice, on the contrary, but for pop music, not for Opera. I am italian and i know how Bocelli became famous, believe me, the fact that he's blind was used a lot by the media. I just say that many others tenors sing better than him, but they are not so famous. I'd like to listen his voice in pop or folk song, not in classical music, i love too much this genre
@korovamilksbar so many people are missing the point, including you, a performance is not all about musical perfection. He sings from the heart whether it's pop or opera. Pavarotti understood that which is why he rated Andrea so highly as do i .. the guy is a treasure. Being blind is neither here nor there!
Which part the one where i insult a man for being blind, just saying if he had eyesight he wouldn't have the kind of popularity he has attained. While i don't think he's a bad singer he's clearly a very limited one, listen to Corelli (the man who trained Boceli) and tell me you prefer Bocelli.
AB: Actually, he began to help me when I was a child, just by listening to his recordings. Then I met him, many years ago, and I would try to go to see him as often as I could, wherever he was. I met with him in the mountains, where he had a home, and also in Milan or Monte Carlo. I spoke with him for days and days and days at a time.
He also trained for 3-4 years with Maestro Luciano Bettarini, teacher of many great names including Ferruccio Tagliavini, Ettore Bastianini and Franco Corelli himself.
Learning that his childhood idol, Franco Corelli was to offer master classes in Turin, Andrea apprehensively approached the Maestro. The first aria Andrea sang for the great tenor was from Puccini's La Bohème.
Corelli, recognising a natural beauty in the voice which recalled qualities of several legendary Tuscan tenors, took on the young man as a pupil.
Then, after my world career started, I would call him on the phone as I traveled, and we would stay on the phone for hours, speaking about my singing, helping me to discover what was best for my voice. I remember many vocal exercises we did together. He was particularly interested in deepening my voice.
Many of the comments here are offensive , infantile , snobbish - or all three.
Incomprehensible given this man's wonderful talent

the lyric or traduction was wrong, in the min 2.32 te voglio di sperato, is not mean die in despair, is i want or love you in dispair, is that true?
mauriciomille 1 year ago
@mauriciomille - The lyric is "e muoio disperato", which means "and I die in despair" (I'm taking this from an abridged Ricordi score)

@confusedphilosopher ahm ok. i was wrong, thanks and in 1.50 to 1.58 is falsetto?...
mauriciomille 1 year ago
@mauriciomille - I'm not too sure about that; to me it sounded like head voice that just didn't project that well...?
I'm not an expert on technique I'm afraid, so if someone has any insight, by all means...

I find your comment to be insensitive, rude, and cruel.
