@BLAYDZ99 the recoil on the .50 cal isnt very much at all .. its about like shooting a .243 or maybe a .270 at most but thats cuz of the muzzle break... it reduces the recoil almost 60-70%.. ive shot one without the muzzle break on it and like you said it almost knocked my arm off... but then i put it back on and it hardly kicks at all

wouldn't the very light weight of the gun added to the "head-popping without a sweat" bullet make it so the gun would fly out of your hand with that recoil? (after all, you dont shoot it standing, and when you do, its on the ground, so it would need weight to keep it there) i'm no gun expert, never even shot a gun before, but would love to know that anyways... for the first time ill shoot a 13 pound .50cal :P

you can hunt with .50s , people use them for long range hunting , pronhorn antelope and elk are some of the game that is hunted by this mighty caliber, at distances of over 400 + ... you just have to use the right bullet ....it is very effective , and some use it just to varmin hunt ... but whomever denies .50 are not used to hunt is obiously wrong ...

well it has a lot of adventages , you can deliver accurate shots at long range . thats pretty much it .... yeah sure .338 can deliver shots to up to a good 1000 yrds ...but there is something about the .50 every hunter likes ... i dont know , i think its an over kill , unless you use a good bullet ment for the game that is being hunted. the bullet is what matters , not the cal . ( kinda )

yea but you would have to put they gun right to its skull and hope it penatrates all the way trough one side as the bones are very thick but if it did the bullet would bounce off the other side and mess up its brain internally like a .22 round does on a man.personally i wouldnt want to get that close to it and id want the big gun for that.but for hunting deer in the woods 50cal is abit much.but as a homemade peice of machined metal it nice as i do like one off custom peices

Elephants I would say, and really when you get into that kind of hunting .50 cal one of the smaller rounds they commonly use. The hunters that can afford it use .600 Nitro Express and .700 Nitro Express

40 and 50 Calibers are both small Calibers for elephant hunting. You can drop and elephant with smaller caliber guns, it's just alot of people don't go to africa with these small caliber weapons.

.600 Nitro Express is a Rifle Cartraige, the .600 pistols are really big and made for nothing other then kicks. Alot of people tend to get right up on elephants when using the .700 Nitro Express which makes the gun pointless really.

20MM is no joke. I work in munitions for the Air Force and that's what all of our primary fighters shoot. The 20MM round he held was a PGU-27 or "target practice" round. If you want the bad boy of 20MM then check out HEI or "high explosive incendiary". Good stuff =).

The Vulcan is a minigun, impossible to shoulder fire (while individual recoil might not knock you over, more than 50 rounds a second will. The gun he is showing is a bolt action 20mm rifle.

What needs to be done is multiply the desiplanary sentences for crimes involving firearms by about 5 times fold. My dad and I are both avid hunters and own more than a few guns, and we both are nothing but safe when we are using them both in the field and at the range.
