yes it is better than mario kart imo. Because while mk has good items, you have to remember this is Sonic's territory, Speed is his game, so there is lots of boosting and speed in this one. I already played Mkart wii to death. This is something new and fresh. So yes it will be better for a while. Mario kart would have been better if they included other nintendo characters. They run out of characters so they start using mario baddies like Koopa troopa just to make the selection fuller >:(

I will not bother trying to refute that sonic sega all star racing is better than Mario Kart, that was never my intention. I am certainly not in a position to judge( i have played neither MK Wii nor SSAR). Rather I was questioning you premature judgement that SSAR would be a better game.

I would question your statement "something new and fresh" certainly it is new, but i would not call it fresh given its similarities to mario kart. But sonic has always had that problem for me.

It's a spin off game. It doesn't need to adhere to the Sonic formula, especially if its not even a Sonic game. If you want to go by the game's logic, Sonic would win every time if he was on foot, and people would complain that he shouldn't be capable of losing if a car beats him. Much the same way people complained how a plumber could be capable of beating a hedgehog in a foot race.

SEGA's not running out of ideas. In fact, it's other way around. They've gone through many ideas and concepts, but didn't execute it in the right way. Sonic turning a werewolf, while a stupid concept at that, should have ended on a better note then what we got. The same can be said for his sword. This racing game however, is being handled by Sumo Digital, who did Outrun, an excellent racing game. Since they did a good job with that game, there's little reason to believe this game could be bad.
