This is a very good song- it has a message that many Christians would do well to learn; that if we are truly following the 'Prince of Peace' we should live at peace with other believers: in fact, we are commanded to.

We are called to live at peace with everyone, not just other believers. 2 Corinthians 10:3-4

Just because we are commanded to doesn't mean that it will necessarily happen. You have a good point though. But it's only by resting in God's grace completely that we are able to live at peace with each other. Commandments will only go so far. The commandment shows us how far short we fall and that we need more than a commandment; we need a savior, Jesus Christ.
