green day is my favourite band and life and soul and everything but even i wouldn't compare them to the beatles or billie joe to john lennon. they're incomparable. not only are they 30-50 years apart as far as bands but they're both a completely different genre of music. both are influential and i can guarantee most bands out there today have been inspired by both green day and the beatles. i do think billie joe has a better singing voice though, completely objectively. i love this cover a lot.

What's all this about Green Day performing Working Class Hero as sacrilege? Can an artist not do a cover in tribute anymore? The studio version actually has John Lennon's original as the outro. The song was a part of the Instant Karma cover album to help Darfur. Billie Joe is a huge fan of John Lennon and this is his tribute. End of story.

No words can describe how much I love this performance. Of course this performance is getting the message across, it's allowing more people to hear it. Millions would have tuned into watch this & now people can watch it over and over again on youtube. I've been a huge fan of Green Day for well over 12 years and this is still one of my favourite live performances. Great band singing a great song written by a great man.

You guys do not understand that when John Lennon wrote this song, he didn't care about the critics nor the fans. He cared about the people as one who are being played upon every day. If Green Day is playing this on FOX in front of millions including those watching on TV, they aren't getting the message across that john lennon wanted us to hear.
