@dangar45 The Russians now call it the "banner of victory". It has no official roll, but is used in commemorations of the Second World War. I think this was one of Putin's attempts to restore Russian pride, much like his bringing back the Soviet national anthem (at least the tune). I found it ironic to see George Bush stand as this flag was paraded through the square. He must have crapped in his pants.
@dsindc Im Russian too but Im copletely against communists because they completely destroyed all our culture with their damn internationalism. I think communism doesn't belong to the Russian culture or heritge in anyway,
It is a great march but when a life guard regiment mutinies and loses the life it is pledged to guard, it loses it's existence. Who will trust it today?
A comment was made claiming that : " Russian army was not an equal to wermacht in terms of organisation and training. But than again, wermacht didn't suffer purges..." The Wermacht was strictly trained in 'leadership' principles, without their officers German infantry were helpless. They weren't even trained to read maps. Until 1941 most German cannons were horse-drawn. The Abwehr was rife with traitors and resistance, and after July 1944 the army was purged of 5000 of the highest officers.
@horselips ANY infantry is hopeless without officers. What I was trying to say is that the whole command structure, the command vertical, was virtually erased in case of red army, which affected not only operational capabilities of the Russian forces, but also training quality and discipline levels in the long run prior to the ww2, and effectively made red army inferior in ALL aspects of a fighting force. Not only in regards of leadership. Argument for my claim would be the winter war vs Finland
@horselips and Germans used horses the entire war. What is not well known is the fact that the Soviets offered to the western allies a joint alliance against Germany, after the invasion on Czechoslovakia, which both the British and the French refused, believing (on the account of disastrous performance of the red army in the winter war) that the Soviets would't have been a worthy enough ally.
Hitler's attack on the Soviet Union was a gift from God that saved Western Civilization. Seeing millions and millions of Nazis and Commies kill each other is a blessing. The Soviets destroyed the Nazis, but only after so much damage was done, and so many people killed (Stalin would have probably killed them anyway without Germany's help) that the victory of NATO over the Warsaw Pact was assured.
@Fozzi19894 :Sorry, but my parents were married at the time of my conception and birth, so 'bastard' is out of the question. Again, for you slow-learners, the defeat of Nazi Germany, and the fatal wounding of the USSR was a win-win for the rest of us. Socialism - either the "National" (Fascist) or "International" (Communist) kind, are both anathema to the human spirit, and every freedom-loving man on earth smiles over their graves.
@horselips hahahahha you have to be joking..are you serious?? right...so socialism is bad....ohh evil....and your democracy, which by the way with the patriot act there is lack of, is an abomination of the ideas of those 18th century colonial traitors. oh yes socialism is bad, because aas you know we can all do whatever we want, because we are liberal and selfish, and do not live in a society at all. i'am writing from my unique liberal place, train station cardboard box with wireless capability
@horselips There's no such thing as "western civilization". There's Christian civilization. And victory was assured MY ASS. In 1945 NOTHING would of been able to stop red army on their push to Atlantic if Stalin had decided to do so. And you don't even know how close NATO came to be defeated in the 1970s.
@degenericni : If Stalin thought for a minute that the western allies could have been defeated, he would have attacked. He new better. Besides, that pesky atomic bomb was our trump card. Instead, he surrendered half of Berlin and settled for what he actually occupied. NATO was never close to defeat in the 1970s or at any other time. Take your pick -1945 or 1975, a Soviet attack on the West would have failed, and filled Hell with dead commies.
@horselips a-bomb would probably be a strategic challenge, I agree. But you must realize one thing: 80% of German ww2 casualties was inflicted by the red army on the east front. Considering that fact it is obvious that red army had not only numerical, but also technical (is3 heavy tank), strategical, and experiential advantage over western allies.
@degenericni ;99+% of Soviet casualties were inflicted by the badly outnumbered, badly outgunned, Wermacht, at a kill-to-loss rate of about 5 to 1. As soon as the Pacific war ended in August, tens of thousands of combat aircraft - including thousands of devastating B29 bombers for which the Russians had no counter, would have been sent to Europe, dozens of aircraft carriers, additional millions of of experienced soldiers. The horde of Red Army peasants would have been masssacred.
Red Army had 12 million active soldiers after WWII...
USSR had strongest army in the World after WWII,then Stalin died and army was reduced for more than 60%.
USSR could take over RUINED Europe for couple of months or a year...
US couldn't do anything to stop them, only USSR was first industrialist reborn country in Europe after WWII,and it had much more chances to take over Europe then, than it had during the cold war...
@61741467 And the USA had 8 million. Add in the entire reserve of the British Empire - millions were as yet unmobilized. And the Russians, 90% of them armed with 1891 Mosin-Nagants wouldn't be facing Germans armed with obsolete WW1 Mausers - they'd have to fight autoloading M1Garands and fast firing Enfields, either of which had 2-3 times the rate of fire. Add in a few atomic bombs and it's over. Stalin knew it, and that's why he didn't attack.
@61741467 Hold on there friend - Without the unparallelled valor of the Russian people, the allies would not have won WW2 until the atom bomb became available. Without the diversion of men and materiel to Barbarossa, Rommel would have conquered Africa and Eisenhower would never have landed in Normandy. Just the same, the millions of Axis soldiers, and tens of thousands of tanks, planes and guns the Germans had to keep deployed in the West and Africa would have tipped the balance against Russia.
@61741467 World War 2 was won by EVERYBODY on our side, and without EITHER front - Eastern or Western, final victory would have had to await the deployment of sufficient atomic weapons to destroy the Axis countries and military formations. I just get annoyed when the contribution of the western allies is diminished.
@61741467 No need to apologise -I have enjoyed our debate, and i have great respect for your scholarship and passion. Hopefully we'll meet again in friendly, civil discourse over some other video. Until then, be well my friend.
@horselips thats just CRAP. At the first months of the Barbarossa, Germans captured 4+ million of Russian soldiers, which they later murdered, and that amounts to the "battle" kill to loss ratio you mentioned. Besides that wermacht was not badly outnumbered and outguned, and all of it's initial successes can be attributed to the purges Stalin had done, and by doing so SIGNIFICANTLY reduced the fighting capabilities of the red army.
@degenericni OK, so even if you subtract the murdered POWs, you get a kill-to-loss ratio of 4 to 1. I'll settle for that. By 1944, the Red Army outnumbered the Wermacht by 3 to1 overall, and 6 to 1 when attacking. The disparity in tanks and air power higher still. The Russians suffered no shortages of petroleum or ammunition as the Germans did, and they weren't being bombed around the clock as Germany was. Much of Russia was still undamaged, Germany was in ruins.
@horselips No you do not get 4 to 1. You get 1,6 to 1. Wiki that out. Strategic bombing campaign was a joke. Less than 5% of bombs dropped hit intended targets (by targets I mean huge industrial complexes). Russia was undamaged? I'm not going even to address that statement. And I will agree that Russian army was not an equal to wermacht in terms of organisation and training. But than again, wermacht didn't suffer purges like the red army, that left them almost LEADERLESS in the thirties.
@degenericni More important than the accuracy of the strategic bombing campaign by the USAAF and the RAF was that countless thousands of guns and a majority of Luftwaffe fighter strengrth was diverted FROM the Russian front to contend with it. Killing and wounding millions of German civilians and wrecking Germany's transportation infrastructure kept munitions and reinforcements from their timely arrival in the East. I didn't say Russia was undamaged, just that much wasn't.
@horselips are you nuts???? do you realise how much population, infrastructure resources russia lost???? draw the line between stalingrad and st petersburg.. over a third of industrial capacity, something like 60% of steel, and god knows how much coal, was under GERMAN control, so how did USSR not have shortages? by the way do you know that the luftwaffe could not fly, if the US company owned by the Rockefellers hadnt sold a fuel aditive to the NAZI's
@horselips you have to realize that the western front of ww2 is a joke. Eastern front saw more fighting, casualties, equipment usage and loss, strategical and tactical operations, than ALL others theaters of ww2 COMBINED. Had there not been russian "peasants" to take on the full might of german forces, chances are that not only whole of Europe would speak German as their first language today, but very likely, much of the entire world.
@degenericni Granted, the Eastern front was on a greater scale than the Western, however, the USSR would never have won if Germany didn't have to fight on 3 fronts. And it wouldn't have mattered if Germany had conquered Britain, Russia and Africa, and Japan had conquered China and India, and their armies met in triumph in the Middle East and Siberia. The atomic bomb was America's trump card and the Axis would have lost it all in a few weeks. The Axis had no chance against American technology.
@horselips OK, I'm starting to get the feeling I'm debating an elementary school kid. WHICH IS FINE. But I am not really interested in giving history lessons over youtube.
Don't count Italy, nor North Africa as a front. They were light flyweight compared to the east. Now, considering western front, Stalin pleaded and begged for it to be opened in 1941, 42, 43. After Stalingrad he stopped. After StGrad, victory was just a matter of time.
@horselips on the other side have you heard of Werner Heisenberg? Or, are you claiming that American technology was superior to the German in the 1930's?
And US would have defeated the axis in matter of weeks. You know how they say, US and what army? Literally what army? US had las than 10 divisions in the begging of the 40's.
@horselips actually much research for the manhattan project along with already separated isotopes of uranium was shipped by a sub to japan by germany, once they realised they couldnt win, this sub was intercepted by the brits i believe info handed down to US, so your technology was actually......well not very good lets put it that way, if you want to talk about ww2 and tech, then germany was top dog
@horselips would have been over streching US supply routes. lets remember aircraft carriers and fleets around them werent self sufficient, and island warfare did not require millions of troops....even if you placed the bombers in vladivostok, it would be a strech to bomb moscow
@fenackerpan Stalin joined with Hitler in the destruction of democratic Poland and Stalin was responsible for the Katyn murders. When the Germans attacked Russia Stalin "disappeared" - he couldn't believe what was happening.
In a renaissance of relations between the Russian federation and the United States, it would make sense for the United States to encourage the formation of a Eurasian political, economic and military union including Korea, China, Japan and India with Russia as one of the nations at the helm; Russia offers a platform of stability and growth in Eurasia, and it would make more sense for the United States to work with Russia's military to bolster their forces in Korea and Japan.
Supposedly the preobrazhensky regiment went without defeat in the great Napoleonic war - no doubt this is seen as a point of national pride in a nation that traditionally has tremendous pride in its armed forces.
Hopefully Russia and the United States can work to form a new alliance that keeps both economies and militaries strong. It would make sense for the two countries to collaborate in Asia, where it doesn't make much sense for the United States to have forces stationed.
Playing the march which commemorates the regiment is very ironic.
The purpose of the regiment was to guard the lives of the czar and his family at all odds.
When the regiment mutinied on March 12, 1917, they abrogated their sworn duty and should have been written out of Russian history, as mutinous regiments have been written out of the French, Austrian, and other armies in the past.
This regiment consigned the imperial family to death.
Remember all those hundreds of thousands raped German women and children and suppression of free Europe under Communist regime, Katyn headshots and so on...
@sergeontheloose Looks like Russian, or sorry "Ukrainian" history books failed to cover the subject of the Red Army defeat at Warsaw. The Polish Army beat the russian fuckers. Whatever they were doing, you deserved it.
@ClassicMusicOnly I have no masters, stupid bitch cunt! The polish army was the invader who first was in the middle of Ukraine and later was pushed out. The rest is history. Again, check your history first, what came earlier, you stupid shitface.
@sergeontheloose Of course you do. You've been exchanged between Poland and Russia for hundreds of years.
Yes, Poland was indeed the invader, and they were pushed out. Nevertheless, we won the war and defeated the Russians decisively at Warsaw which crushed the Red Army. That must be the history you are referring to. We still got half of Ukraine, and at least 50% of your country belongs to Poland as does 50% of Belarus or Lithuania. Then again 50% of present day Poland should be Germany :P
@ClassicMusicOnly Thank you for saying. I'm sorry for putting my nose in, but it is interessting what you say. 50% of present poland should be German? May I ask you where you are from?
@sergeontheloose Really? Did you listen something what polish army did with red pigs near Warsaw in 1920? My hot greetings to all intelligent Russian!!! Vsievo Horieshievo c Novom Godom.
I doubt that there were hundreds thousands of them. And what did you expect? What should have our soldiers done when they saw mountains of human corpses piled up in the wake of the retreating Germans? Free Europe? Never heard of such a thing. By me, better be in a communism bliss then Capitalism slavery.
"raped german women"... yes there had place rapes, but these cases very rare relatively to german barbarian atrocities commited on occupied territories. sounds pretty ear-cutting but german actions towards non-combatant soviet citizens were just inhumanic. deal it.
if you are a military man you will know that this is a great display of epic military music and superb drill. as an ex british army soldier it makes me feel exhilerated! i marched to the same music when i was a soldier. WHAT A BAND! WHAT SOLDIERS! DOSTVEDANYA!
TurboRatownik. unfortunately some armies treat their soldiers quite badly to say the least. the british army was just the same 100 yrs ago. i hope it doesnt take the russian army that long to move on in terms of treatment of its soldiers.
I think it's interesting that at this parade in the capitalist Russian Federation, they are celebrating the triumph of the communist Soviet union, with the music of the autocratic Russian Empire
perhaps because Russia didnt change even when the ideology changed. There is always a Tsar in their minds, the strong leader to lead them. If its called tsar, leading person of the party or president, the ideal of power is still there. And its actually good imo, although not easily understandable by outsiders or very young spoiled kids who want to rule and obey noone.
Indeed, for the Russians, the ones from the Cold War time, there must be a Stalin-like figure as president in the near future for them to counteract the Americans, or the enemies of the Motherland. And, as time told us, the Russians are almost unstoppable with a good leader ahead.
The are celebrating the defeat of fascists. Everybody should celebrate that. Russia's part in the victory over fascism was huge and should be remembered forever.
It wasn´t Russia´s Part - it was the Soviet Union´s one. Soviet Union ist dead - Germany still alive. That should be remembered forever. By the way - during first world war Soviet Russia surrendered at Brest-Litowsk. That should be remembered forever, too.
It was Russian part since Russia bore the greatest burden of fight with German scum within USSR, and in the whole world. It should also be noted that Germany exists today ONLY thanks to Russian good will.
anyway you seem to bee drunk by too much wodka. this is the only thing you and your fellow citizens are able to do - drinking, raping and talking bullshit.
Actually, most of the fighting in WWII was done on the Eastern front. Also, the Red Army inflicted 80-93% of the casualties suffered by the German Army in the war...
I think you should both nock it the fuck off. It was 60+ years ago, get over yourselves. 1 bad man made bad choices, and now everyone hates each other. GET, OVER, IT.
absolutely wonderful this march . thank to winnie 9212. i wish you the best and if you can that you put perhaps other beautiful marches from russia . Thanks . Spassiba. druzba.
in the history of mankind, communism has killed 11 times more people than nazi's. nazi's are wrong, but comminists are really the lowest kind of garbage ever seen!!
how could they be communists? "The communist republic regime of Plymouth rock"??? Karl Marx and his communist manifest were only published in the early 20th century. Your pilgrims probably lived in a system that was far from capitalist, but they weren't communists.
For example, lets see on Iraq. All invaders tell about noble aims but it is obvious that main aim is oil. There is only one reason why capitalist goverment doesnt execute own people -- it is too expensive (today and only in developed countries). If you take a look on developing capitalist countries you can see that there is no any connection between capitalism and human rights.
BTW your question is not correct as I asked about other thing.
The question you ask me is impossible to answer. You will probably say capitalism has killed lots of people by creating poverty, you're wrong, capitalism does not create poverty, socialism and unprofessional governments do. Don't tell me capitalist nations dont execute people because it's too expensive, we all know that's not true. And as for the link between capitalism and human rights, the human rights were established IN capitalist western countries, and not in communist regimes.
OK. Does modern Russia capitalist country? I think so. Does Russia has the same human rights as in for example in Belgium. I doubt it. This is a simple example shows that human rights dont depend on economic system. BTW IMHO human rights in west countries appeared substantially to russian revolution. Complete equality of rights man, woman, children, equality of nations, trade unions.
That arguement proves nothing! The nazis built autobahns, but that does not mean that no democratic, tolerant society is capable of building a decent road.
By the way: the term "goose step" is an English creation. An exact translation of the original German "Stechschritt" would be more martial "stab step" or "sharp step."
(Nur uns beiden allein). Or may the English term "goose step" be derived from the German "Gänsemarsch"? This could explain some moves seen on British parades :-)
Why the hell do they use that USSR flag? What makes it better than nazi?

horselips 1 year ago
@horselips OK, I'm starting to get the feeling I'm debating an elementary school kid. WHICH IS FINE. But I am not really interested in giving history lessons over youtube.
Don't count Italy, nor North Africa as a front. They were light flyweight compared to the east. Now, considering western front, Stalin pleaded and begged for it to be opened in 1941, 42, 43. After Stalingrad he stopped. After StGrad, victory was just a matter of time.
degenericni 1 year ago
@horselips on the other side have you heard of Werner Heisenberg? Or, are you claiming that American technology was superior to the German in the 1930's?
And US would have defeated the axis in matter of weeks. You know how they say, US and what army? Literally what army? US had las than 10 divisions in the begging of the 40's.
Dude...
Rambo's not real.
degenericni 1 year ago

13Kagato13 1 year ago
@13Kagato13 And Russia is not a part of the EU. Big plus.
Gonnakillyou 1 year ago

@ClassicMusicOnly I have no masters, stupid bitch cunt! The polish army was the invader who first was in the middle of Ukraine and later was pushed out. The rest is history. Again, check your history first, what came earlier, you stupid shitface.
sergeontheloose 1 month ago
@sergeontheloose Of course you do. You've been exchanged between Poland and Russia for hundreds of years.
Yes, Poland was indeed the invader, and they were pushed out. Nevertheless, we won the war and defeated the Russians decisively at Warsaw which crushed the Red Army. That must be the history you are referring to. We still got half of Ukraine, and at least 50% of your country belongs to Poland as does 50% of Belarus or Lithuania. Then again 50% of present day Poland should be Germany :P

I think it's interesting that at this parade in the capitalist Russian Federation, they are celebrating the triumph of the communist Soviet union, with the music of the autocratic Russian Empire
crippmeister 2 years ago 2
perhaps because Russia didnt change even when the ideology changed. There is always a Tsar in their minds, the strong leader to lead them. If its called tsar, leading person of the party or president, the ideal of power is still there. And its actually good imo, although not easily understandable by outsiders or very young spoiled kids who want to rule and obey noone.
TomaSkTemplar 2 years ago 3
The foreign policy of Imperial Russia and Communist Russia was indistinguishable whatever the language used.
freebeerfordworkers 2 years ago
Indeed, for the Russians, the ones from the Cold War time, there must be a Stalin-like figure as president in the near future for them to counteract the Americans, or the enemies of the Motherland. And, as time told us, the Russians are almost unstoppable with a good leader ahead.

Can you tell how many people were killed by capitalism?
trunikov 3 years ago
How much people were executed by the government in capitalist nations? Zero. All capitalist nations respect the chart of human rights.
TLebacq 3 years ago
I doubt it.
BTW your question is not correct as I asked about other thing.
trunikov 2 years ago
The question you ask me is impossible to answer. You will probably say capitalism has killed lots of people by creating poverty, you're wrong, capitalism does not create poverty, socialism and unprofessional governments do. Don't tell me capitalist nations dont execute people because it's too expensive, we all know that's not true. And as for the link between capitalism and human rights, the human rights were established IN capitalist western countries, and not in communist regimes.
xxxxxxjackxxxxx 2 years ago
I think you mixed up hot with yellow :)

And also "Stechschritt" is colloquial language. The official term was "Exerzierschritt".
