just updated my new pc with 4GB DDR3 ram, AMD Phenom 2 X4 965 QUAD core processor @ 3.4 GHz and ATI Radeon HD 4650 1GB graphics and tested it on my 32inch HD ready TV and still gettin less than 30FPS when running the benchmark tool with high specs and 1280x720 resoultion and DX10 plz help
very very close. It performs at 4870 levels, but it has a 128 bit memory controller (which is not really that big of a deal) and it supports the triple monitor setup. To be honest, the 5850 is the one to get for me. Two 5850's crossfired use less power than just my 4890 by itself. That amazing electrical engineering right there.
i just got the 5850, but im still running on a phenom x4 9550 2.2 ghz proc. i get 80-105 fps on in-game benchmark. but i think once my phenom II 955 gets here it will be a dif. story.
yeah, I had 6 gig corsair dominator, which is some of the best there is. I do insane amounts of digital artwork,so I have adobe photoshop, Corel X, Aftereffects, Flash, and Toon Boom open at once! So some stuff cached over to that third stick, which would give me weird hangups all the time when working. Gaming was no issue, but would get some micro stuttering. AMD told me it was the memory controller, because it is designed to run with 1, 2, or 4 sticks. If your just gaming, u should b fine.
very nice, careful of the 6 gig. one of those sticks will run in single channel mode. Might never rear it's ugly head. but best to get the 4 or 8 gig kit of ocz. I have the extended bandwidth ocz 1600. works like a champ.
If i get 8 Jigs of 1600mhz ram on a phenom 965, will it underclock itself. Im a real noob at overclocking so i dont want to touch anything. Should i just get 1333mhz?
yes, general it will push down to 1066. wich is fine if you are not benchmarking. you really won't any issue at all with game, because you have so much ram to cache game levels you won't really be "swapping" much. Mine is 1600 8 gig. but i have it sit at 1066 or 1333 depending on what I'm doing. I take 2 sticks out for benchamarks, cuz then you can push the 4 to 1600 or past, but really no need to in a "real world" scenario. I you go 8, get 1333, save a few bucks.
hey. i have a new laptop that is windows vista. how do i download the benchmark on my pc? plz answer cause iv been looking and cant find it anywhere...:( lol
I leave it at stock settings for the most part (why overclock when it's running like a champ?) Here's a trick though. A lot of it has to do with heat. Pop ur 4890 out and check how loose the screws are. Mine was loose, so I put arctic silver 5 on it, tightened it down real good, then set your fan speed to 40% (that's right at the point where it gets louder, but keeps the temps real low). The high heat of the card can drop it like 10 fps. Hope this helps.
My card is really warm... Idles at 60 and @80 during load. I got really crappy air in my room.... Earlier when I smoked in here the computer overheated and restarted <_<
Gonna check the screws tommorow and increase the fanspeed, thanks for the tip!
Just did what you said, and wow! It now idles at 48 instead of 60. The fan didn't get too much louder, I have my personal fan and a tv in the background that causes more noise. Does 48 degrees idle sound good?
Tried Crysis, only went a few degrees above 60. Results didn't really improve but it's still great! Maybe I can smoke without the computer overheating now :P
Oh and the reason you get a much higher result than me in RE5 might be because you have a quad? I have an C2D E8500 3,16ghz myself.
last question, and sorry. i bought a OCZreaperX 6-5-5-20 1333mhz 2gbkit, i tought it was 4.i can't buy more of this same ram because shopping on amazon in my country is hard.they'r coming on weekend. in all ur experience, can this 2gbkit(OC to 1600) give good fps in games like crysis or other game(1920x1080)( same specs as u,but i have LCS and vapor x 4890.think i can push a but more my gpu)or should i move to a 4gb kit of ur rams(same rams)OR wait like 1-2 months to get another kit of my rams
You should be perfectly fine with 4 gig. That's real solid ram. literally, the only reason I have 8 gig is because I have soooo many things running in the background (video editing, animation programs) and I want to game while that's running. If you know you won't be running tons of stuff in the background.... 4 is plenty.
It works, and yes it took a lot of tinkering. I think the best thing to do with 8 gig is to underclock it to 1333. When I'm doing stress testing it sits a lot more stable and can push the cpu higher. Sometimes faster isn't always better. Trial and error to find the sweet spot of any setup.
That would be a very solid setup. shop around a bit though. the 4890's are dropping in price big time. you can find em for 150.00 and they have a lot more headroom than a 4870.
Is there a noticeable difference in games between 3.2GHZ and 3.9GHZ OC?

Is there any graphic card that could hold minimum 100 fps?
I hate seeing how good computer spec.is facing results below 100
Anyone willing to lend me a hang with answer?
Im using:
-Phenom x2 555(not unclocked)
-2 GB Kingston 800 MhZ DDR2

48 sounds perfect..... Exactly where mine idles. Now you won't break probably 60-62c even when running crysis

Woow man, nice FPS! super kickass pc!
btw i got a M4a79t deluxe. and in the asus website it says that it can handle only 1333mhz( ram) and 1600 OC
it seems that u have native 1600mhz on those rams, it works for u? or did u do some tricky stuff..
