@daggettbeaverforever Yes! This is my favorite song and scene in the movie. I fell in love with it the first time I heard it 27 years ago. My only wish is that the film was done in Dolby Surround or at least Dolby Stereo. It doesn't sound the same in MONO. I would be a happy woman if during the remake franchise they re-released the original and digitally enhanced the picture, and sound quality. Thanks for the compliment BTW.
The Music composed by Tangerine Dream in this film that happens to be my favorite movie of all time, influenced me to want to write movie scores. Years go by so fast, i remember when this film was in the theatres...i was 10 years old, i would love to see footage of the making of it. David Keith and Drew's chemistry as father & daughter was amazing.in a remake, i think Bradley Cooper would play perfectly as the father & Drew herself as the mom...but there's only one Charlie (* :
Originally written by Stephen King, this is a true classic. The music was as original as the film and Drew Barrymoore was something to behold. So adorable, so innocent and yet so powerful at once. Excellent performance for Drew at such a young age.
@NeonString Right. Like the beginning of the movie, for instance. The album version is great (Crystal Voice) but I prefer the way it sounds in the opening of the actual film.
@NeonString The truth of the matter is. No such music exists. In fact Tangerine Dream never viewed any of the footage while the soundtrack was being created. The director Mark L Lester sent them the story board and said make a bunch of music samples. Then Lester picked out which ones he liked the best. He then had the sound dept "tweak" the music with different sound effects to bring out more emphasis of the scene.
@firestepher72 WOW. That REALLY SUCKS! At least I can put to rest any thoughts of getting a copy of that version of the music. So the cool electronic sort of gong/buzzing sound wasn't even added by Tangerine Dream? Where is this information from?
@NeonString This is my favorite movie of all time. I did my research. By the way, Universal has confirmed on doing a 30th anniversary Remake of Firestarter. As the article states; the widow of late Dino De Laurentiis said a new project was underway. The character of Charlene Mcgee will have more 'edge" to it.
Great music, but, just from these scenes, the worst directed film every made for this much money. These clumsy action shots would shame someone making home videos with his buddies from film class. "Move clumsily towards the camera in a bunch, shoot at her, turn and run slowly away, we'll put in fiery effects later." A waste of acting talent, along with the music.
@ExosiusWoolley his expression was just funny it was like he was thinking "ok I am just gonna shoot her in the head maybe that would stop her *Bang bullet gets delfected* oh shit!! NOOOOOOO!"
This movie may seem cheesy this day in age but at the time I saw this I wanted Charley's powers..i wanted to rid the world of all the bad the surrounded us.
Drew's a great actress. She just needs to quit all that cheesy romantic-comedy junk. She's so much better than that. This video proves it.

What's annoying is that ya can't find the actual music that was played in the movie. This is close, but there is a difference.

Back during Drew's childhood-teen years she did powerful films such as this and "Doppelganger".
