How the might have fallen. From these great episodes that had a story and made you feel for the hero, we've devolved into "The Astro Boy Movie" with the voice of Nicholas Cage. Hollywood has taken a great story and turned it into a horrible "Spy Kids" meets "Home Alone II" straight-to-rental abomination.
This one is off the 1950s manga book but the characters are different from the book. Man, an amazing and prolific artist, Dr. Osamu Tezuka, and a fantastic artist. I've never seen these cartoons. I think I'll purchase the dvd box set.
This was a new cartoon in 1963, i watched it after school at 11 years old. It was new and exciting, a hero for kids. Shown in NYC first, i was lucky to see it in 1963, and its nice to see my old 46 year old friend ASTROBOY is still with us today.
I am 51 years Old. Time goes by so fast. I grew up in South Jersey. I used to watch AB on UHF channel out of Philly I can't remember if it was CH 17 or 48. Thank U You tube for sending me back in time. I am still Looking for the Episode "The Mystery of the Metal Men" Like a lot of AB episodes they were full of good and imaginative SCI FI. THe Metal Men dealt with an alternate reality. Pretty amazing when U think about it ...
I'm also 51 and I grew up in Sydney Australia. I loved to watch AB back in the 60's. Didn't really have a favourite episode but I sure didn't want to miss one.
This is the fifth episode of the American version of the series, originally syndicated in October 1963, adapted from one of Osamu Tezuka's original manga stories. Billie Lou Watt, Ray Owens, and Gilbert Mack supply the voices- I forgot who's the voice of "Bobo".
Thanks so much for this sweet video!

A real science fiction animated series. That doesn't exist in the U.S. of A. Their forte seems to be always comedy. Odd.

"You have three buttons. I wonder what they're for?"
"No! No ones ever suppossed to touch those three buttons!"
"Now, Bobo (Pook), your moving parts have to be inspected!"
"No ones inspecting me but my daddy! Catch me if you can!"
"Bad boy!"
