In prophet Muhammad's time there were some apostates who committed treason and wee put to death for that. There were others who changed their faith, and were not killed. Our religious scholars looked at the former examples and igonored the latter and hence the law of death punishment in most islamic countries. Obviously that is wrong and needs to be changed.

For any paradigm shift to happen in society, there has to be a certain critical mass of people who can bring about the change. At the moment even in my own islamic coutnry, if I talk about disregarding hadith when it contradicts quran is probably gonna get me into trouble. There are other people and schools of thought like me but still we are far from that "critical mass" level. thats why you dont see "us" on the streets.

On this site you can llook at many translations for comparision. I highly recommend to look at Muhammad Assad's translation (he was a jew who converted to islam and wrote this masterpiece).

Another important verdict is that only two crimes are punishable by death and they are clearly spelled out by quran in e) 5:32 :
1) Muder

Taqqiya is the honest following of a high moral code fo dignity and respect which is preached by pretty much all faiths and not only islam. My issue is with historical references documenting the messenger engaging in activities which are the exact opposite of the message. If not, then it seems Islam merely threatens death to Muslims who exercise their God-given right to freedom of thought. Muslim words and Muslim deeds are frequently at variance with each other.
It seems a good idea to add here that in the May 30, 2007, decision against Lina Joy, Malaysia's Federal Court ruled that "a person who wanted to renounce his/her religion must do so according to existing laws or practices of the particular religion. Only after the person has complied with the requirements and the authorities are satisfied that the person has apostatised, can she embrace Christianity....In other words, a person cannot at one's whims and fancies renounce or embrace a religion."
It also seems a good idea to ask how a court could possibly arrogate to itself jurisdiction over what goes on in people's brains, especially concerning wholly unprovable faith. Such decisions as these support the inescapable conclusion that Muslims intend to reject human governance of Islam but instead continue allowing the private god of a self-serving, seventh-century "prophet" to rule the world as extensively as they can. To that end Muslims bend their lies about Islam's no-exit disposition.
FREEDOM? Then there's Afghanistan's Abdul Rahman. In 2006, his family reported him to the police, who arrested him when they found him to own a Bible. Calling him a "microbe" and traitor, prosecutors asked for the death penalty. The Afghan Attorney General said he should be hanged. Judge Ansarullah Mawlawizadah said "Muhammad said that those who convert from Islam should be killed if they refuse to come back. Islam is a religion of tolerance, [so] if he regrets what he did we will forgive him."
The Qur'ān at 4:89 says "They [we unbelievers] but wish that ye should reject Faith, as they do, and thus be on the same footing (as they): But take not friends from their ranks until they flee in the way of Allah (From what is forbidden). But if they turn renegades [this can mean nothing but apostatize], seize them and slay them wherever ye find them."
AHADITH: Bukhari 52:260: "...The Prophet said, 'If somebody (a Muslim) discards his religion, kill him.'" Bukhari 83:37: "Allah's Apostle never killed anyone except...a man who fought against Allah and His Apostle and deserted Islam and became an apostate." Bukhari 84:57: "[In the words of] Allah's Apostle, 'Whoever changed his Islamic religion, then kill him.'" Bukhari 89:271: "A man who embraces Islam, then reverts to Judaism is to be killed according to "the verdict of Allah and his apostle."
Abul A'lā Maudoodi said Qur'ān 2:256 "means we do not compel anyone to come into our religion. And this is truly our practice. But we initially warn whoever would come and go back that this door is not open to come and go. Therefore anyone who comes should decide before coming that there is no going back." Bernard Lewis wrote "For [apostasy] there is no human forgiveness, and according to the overwhelming majority of the jurists, the [male] renegade must be put to death." Females are flogged.
4:89 They wish that you disbelieve as they have disbelieved, then you become equal. Do not consider them friends, unless they mobilize along with you in the cause of GOD. If they turn against you, you shall fight them, and you may kill them when you encounter them in war. You shall not accept them as friends, or allies.
Do the added verses seem significant to you, Guru? You seem to want me to suppose they alter the threat of 4:89. But they merely dither over what to do about apostates, 4:88 saying Muslims shouldn't bother over them because Allah decides who believes (in which case everyone is apparently an unbeliever), 4:90 offering an amnesty to those who "withdraw from you." They do not cancel 4:89's "seize them and kill them" order. Islam says apostates are to be killed.
I must also recommend that readers take a look at YouTube's "Islam: 'Whoever Changes His Religion - Kill Him' I" site. What could so thoroughly have gouged out these people's heads, then put them back together looking like actual humans? This is the Islamic submission we hear about. Here are normal-looking people sitting around agreeing that others shouldn't be allowed to go on living, for having changed their minds! They are madness incarnate! Let's hear no more about the goodness of Islam.

In prophet Muhammad's time there were some apostates who committed treason and wee put to death for that. There were others who changed their faith, and were not killed. Our religious scholars looked at the former examples and igonored the latter and hence the law of death punishment in most islamic countries. Obviously that is wrong and needs to be changed.

At the moment even in my own islamic coutnry, if I talk about disregarding hadith when it contradicts quran is probably gonna get me into trouble. Another important verdict is that only two crimes are punishable by death and they are clearly spelled out by quran in e) 5:32 :
1) Muder
2) spreading mischeif in earth (soceity). eg if one is raping women, then this may warrant a death sentence. If one is spreading terrorism, that may warrant death sentence depending upon individual circumstances. Have I answered your question?

Taqqiya is the honest following of a high moral code fo dignity and respect which is preached by pretty much all faiths and not only islam. My issue is with historical references documenting the messenger engaging in activities which are the exact opposite of the message. There's too many instances to rationally disregard them all, regardless of how many scholars get together to denounce them hundreds of years after the fact.

The way u interpreted the verse, explain why did the 1st Caliph Abu Bakr r.a fought with people who refused to pay zakat after Prophet's death? The prosecutor said he should be put to death, a fate that surely would have befallen him had Western powers not intervened.
