I had twin block retainers to fix my overbite, then permanent braces and now I have two retainers... I can talk fine... Probably because I am use to them in my mouth 

Talking about removing retainers when you eat: I always used to remove mine simply because it was impossible to eat with it in my mouth.

But if you have two retainers (top and bottom) and you cn eat without removing them so, why do you remove them? Keep wearing them also during lunches and dinners!

Everyone should wear retainers AS MORE AS POSSIBLE! At home, at school, out with friends, never mind where you are, when you have retainers you have to wear them all the time!

I was told to always leave mine in, even when I'm eating.

I guess it's so you can get used to what it like to eat when they take the retainer out and put braces in. Otherwise you will eat funny.

NEVER brush clear retainers with toothpaste...or keep them in mouthwash. it will dull and crack the retainer. If you soak them in a denture soak, they will remain the same.

I literally got my braces off today and got a retianer and my ortho. told not to put it mouthwash because the alcohol will dry it out and make micro-cracks. And also don't do something stupid like putting it in hot or warm water because it will shank the plastic. Also you need to rinse it out when u put it in the case because the saliva will turn white and chalky when it drys, one last thing once a week put it in a cup with denture cleaner tablets for about the amount of time when u eat your me

@Razear I really hated my retainer when first wearing it. But after a couple of weeks, its absolutely nothing. Though I don't dare wear it in public. But at home, when wearing it , it feels comforting like my mouth is protected and I won't bend my teeth by nashing them in my sleep, which is why I had to get braces in the first place.

@Xyberfaust I've had my retainer for about a week now, it's not so bad actually. After a few days your mouth kinda gets use to the feeling of having a foreign object in it all the time and I've stopped salivating as much as before.

Great video and tips. Guys, every case is different when it comes to wearing your retainers. I had my braces removed 11 years ago and my orthodontist then said lifetime retention is recommended. Again, every case is different. I still wear mine to this date and my teeth were not messed up or crooked before braces.

@smileyfacegirllol ummm TIP #1. NEVER. EVER. VRVEEVRVEVEERRRRRRR TAKE YOUR RETAINERS OFF WHEN YOU GET THEM LOL. your teeth will shift! and dont loose them! my dog chewed up my retainers so i didnt have any retainers for a few days so my teeth shifted :( DONT LOOSE THEM! LOL hope that helps hahaha

@madisonrayne11 I say retainers are better because you really only have to get used to it once whereas braces will get tightened frequently and the pain would reappear again. Braces hurt more because they are moving your teeth from its original fixed positions to a more appropriate positions, the level of pain with vary on how crooked your teeth are. Retainers are worn after your braces because your teeth then, are supposed to be straight you wear them it to keep it that way.
