Dragons will eat any kind of food you throw at them. I've made it throwing instead of right-clicking to prevent yourself from eating the food. Food will heal a bit of a tamed dragon's health. Right-clicking a tamed dragon with a compass will give you some basic information about that dragon

You can feed a dragon raw fish or meat as a replacement for riding it (throw it at them), but you'll still need a lot of meat. There is a chance that a dragon attacking you will stop if you feed it. You can make it move again by riding it.

@uberhaxornova you can tame any animal you can ride by feeding them a few of a certain food or riding them enough times despite being thrown off. You feed dragons raw porkchops and a way to tell if they are eating it or you are is to take a little damage so if you are eating it it will restore your health
