Is hard to tell who is better between Anderson Silva and Fedor. I will say that Silva is more talented than Fedor. But Silva is a big guy for his division, Fedor was always a small guy for the heavyweight division. We only saw Silva 1 time having to comeback on a fight. Sure he haves the heart of a true champion but fedor has been on fucking wars!

Fedor was doing his typically swing for the fences bull rush. But against a top tier MMA guy like Hendo, that doesn't work. Look, big guys tire easily bc they have more muscle. Muscle requires oxygen. They are also not as agile bc of that bulk. But finally we are getting real HW athletes in MMA, guys like Cain and JDS. Now that there is more money in MMA, elite big guys might pursue MMA as opposed to the NFL or boxing so things will get more exciting in the HW division.

Compared to strikers such as Anderson, Machida, and Aldo, it is mindless in a sense. The same way Wanderlei used to do it. Fedor tried to bullrush Dan right in the beginning of the match also, and was sent backwards by a hard left hook. This is why Fedor gets so banged up in fights and Anderson doesn't. Anderson is one of the most intelligent fighters in the game. Paced himself? He lost, you can't second guess it. He lost, brutally.

Silva drops his hands mainly when he has his opponent hurt, like he did with Okami and Griffin...both were stunned by punches before the show boating. So if he stunned Fedor, yes, yes he would drop his hands. As far as strikers, Vitor, Henderson, Franklin, Leben, Marquardt, and Cote are some of the best strikers in MMA.

Overeem has proven he has a suspect chin. Ppl like Shogun proved that twice. All that new muscle does not make your chin stronger. Overeem is also slow and waits too long before he lands a shot. Werdum fight was a great example of this. Anderson would be dancing and tagging his face all nite. Overeem is like Fedor, a great record padded with many cans. JDS will be his first real test. If he beats JDS, which I highly highly doubt, I will believe the Ubereem hype.
JDS is a tough fight no doubt.. and Overeem mostly does powershots, that is true. But he has good defense, it has improved a lot since he got into K1.
A lot of the "so-called "cans" that Overeem has beat are legit fighters, who mostly lack the "UFC hype machine". I am also interested to see how he matches up against the speed of JDS, but Overeem is a bad dude.. Fedor is also a great fighter and a legend..

yes but the size can bog you down and make you slower to react. Also affects your conditioning, so it's not only technique that suffers but also speed and stamina. But they have that one punch KO power. But a guy as good as Anderson can evade most of those punches bc of his unreal like head movement. but when he does get hit, he has a great chin. He absorbed all of Hendo's shots.
Anderson has surprisingly good chin for a guy with low body fat.. fat can make your chin better, since you have fat just inside the skull, that can pad the brain and make it shake less.. look at Fedor or Nelson..
Anyway, yeah Anderson is great, but the top guys at HW have good conditioning also.. He would not have much of an edge there..and if they would get him down he would have a very hard time getting up.. it is not easy to submit a big guy from your back..
Yes JDS and Cain, and Jones as a LHW are examples of the new breed of MMA athlete..much better than years ago. Now that more money and marketability (advertising contracts) are in MMA, gifted athletes are pursuing MMA as opposed to traditional sports. I still think Silva has the better of them when striking, but if Cain or Jones got him down, then he has a chance of losing.

The Werdum fight was simply grappler vs striker.. It was not a good fight, and Overeem could have tried to be more loose and throw some small shots, but at the same time i can understand why he fought the way he did. Fedor does not look as good as he used to.. He was more explosive and had more head movement before..
The fighters did not suck, but of course the sport is evolving.. THe UFC HW sucked, but there where good fighters outside it..

Well, like i said, the sport evolved.. at one point he was the best.. since he was well rounded. Now of course the new breed of fighters are completely different... because of fighters like him, who took the sport a step forward.
Fedor was quicker on his feet earlier in his career.. just like CroCop was.. CroCop in the UFC looked like he had been walking trough a muddy field and had shit stuck under his feet..

Josh Barnett vs Fedor would have been really interesting. The competition was much harder outside of the UFC a few years ago.. he fought the best at that time.. U r clueless. The best fighters are actually below HW. HW's have power, but they lack the speed, stamina, and accuracy of the smaller guys. Fedor actually had an advantage fighting bigger oafs. When he fought Dan Henderson, a smaller man, look how that turned out. And what did Anderson do to Henderson?? JDS who trained with Anderson has remarked that he is the best fighter he has seen. Fedor is nothing like Silva. Silva is the greatest combat fighter of all time. Only Jones could usurp him.

Fedor was doing his typically swing for the fences bull rush. But against a top tier MMA guy like Hendo, that doesn't work. Look, big guys tire easily bc they have more muscle. Muscle requires oxygen. They are also not as agile bc of that bulk. But finally we are getting real HW athletes in MMA, guys like Cain and JDS. Now that there is more money in MMA, elite big guys might pursue MMA as opposed to the NFL or boxing so things will get more exciting in the HW division.

Compared to strikers such as Anderson, Machida, and Aldo, it is mindless in a sense. The same way Wanderlei used to do it. Fedor tried to bullrush Dan right in the beginning of the match also, and was sent backwards by a hard left hook. This is why Fedor gets so banged up in fights and Anderson doesn't. Silva drops his hands mainly when he has his opponent hurt, like he did with Okami and Griffin...both were stunned by punches before the show boating. So if he stunned Fedor, yes, yes he would drop his hands. As far as strikers, Vitor, Henderson, Franklin, Leben, Marquardt, and Cote are some of the best strikers in MMA.

He then says the best match up against himself would be his clone. I think Silva is the greatest combat fighter in history, but he is very fake with his humility. He tries to act very humble, but in fact I think he is arrogant, same as Michael Jordan was. Sometimes, when you are inhumanly good, it gets to your head. The Maia fight showed that much.

Overeem has proven he has a suspect chin. Ppl like Shogun proved that twice. All that new muscle does not make your chin stronger. Overeem is also slow and waits too long before he lands a shot. Werdum fight was a great example of this. Anderson would be dancing and tagging his face all nite. Overeem is like Fedor, a great record padded with many cans. JDS will be his first real test. If he beats JDS, which I highly highly doubt, I will believe the Ubereem hype.

JDS is a tough fight no doubt.. and Overeem mostly does powershots, that is true. But he has good defense, it has improved a lot since he got into K1.
A lot of the "so-called "cans" that Overeem has beat are legit fighters, who mostly lack the "UFC hype machine". I am also interested to see how he matches up against the speed of JDS, but Overeem is a bad dude.. Fedor is also a great fighter and a legend..

yes but the size can bog you down and make you slower to react. Also affects your conditioning, so it's not only technique that suffers but also speed and stamina. But they have that one punch KO power. But a guy as good as Anderson can evade most of those punches bc of his unreal like head movement. but when he does get hit, he has a great chin. He absorbed all of Hendo's shots.

Anderson has surprisingly good chin for a guy with low body fat.. fat can make your chin better, since you have fat just inside the skull, that can pad the brain and make it shake less.. look at Fedor or Nelson..
Anyway, yeah Anderson is great, but the top guys at HW have good conditioning also.. He would not have much of an edge there..and if they would get him down he would have a very hard time getting up.. it is not easy to submit a big guy from your back..

Yes JDS and Cain, and Jones as a LHW are examples of the new breed of MMA athlete..much better than years ago. Now that more money and marketability (advertising contracts) are in MMA, gifted athletes are pursuing MMA as opposed to traditional sports. I still think Silva has the better of them when striking, but if Cain or Jones got him down, then he has a chance of losing.

The Werdum fight was simply grappler vs striker.. It was not a good fight, and Overeem could have tried to be more loose and throw some small shots, but at the same time i can understand why he fought the way he did. It is hard to give a good show against a cheater like Werdum. Werdum jumped to his back more often than a 2$ whore..

yes it was pathetic and I remember yelling at my screen. But when they did stand up, Werdum out struck him. Overeem kept waiting to land a huge power strike and in the meantime Werdum outpointed him. Fightmetric also has Werdum winning that fight. But I agree, even if I and fightmetric gave Werdum that decision, he won by bending the rules.

I just hope that once MMA becomes established in the US, and ppl don't see it as ruthless human cockfighting any longer, that PRIDE rules will make their way into the UFC, and by that I mean the legalizing of kicks to an opponent's head when down, ie soccer kicks and head stomps. That will help decrease the grappler's advantage in the UFC.
