no, he cant. not unless he has come extremely long arms. Typically, a person at 5'7"-5'8" needs to have something like a 34 inch vertical to dunk. I'm 5'8" and have a 25 inch vert, but I can only get up to about 9'6". Considering he's the same height as me, and a person needs to get up to at least 10'8" to dunk, he'd need about a 34-40 inch vert.
