  • Gillies with the win, but Jonathan still has the all time"pound for pound" best fighter in NHL history. 5'8 175 and took on anyone in the wrong color sweater.

  • Gillies In His Day.........UNTOUCHABLE.........and i,m a die hard Habs Fan!

  • Islanders don't win all those cups without the toughness of Gillies and Nystrom.

  • Jonathan wanted to look tough and probably didn't expect Gillies to take him seriously...WHAM!...

  • amd down he goes...win Gilles...pathetic Bruin...

  • Gillies was a monster.

  • If you listen closely you can hear Don Cherry sobbing!

  • @scottdougherty HAHAHA

  • so this is what happened when Stan Jonathan fought actual tough guys...

  • @JahTubetv I think you can consider Behn Wilson as a tough guy who beat Gillies ass and Jonathan fought him twice with basically two draws.Say what you want but Pierre Bouchard was no slouch either and he would probaly would have pound your head in.

  • @brsfan66 was this video one of the two draws? i'm thinking *anybody* could pound your head in. Putz.

  • @HandsomeB1derful The only one that pounds on my head is your mom when she takes out her teeth.

  • Getting Jethro all worked up was never a good idea!

  • Wow, Johathan usually did better than that. Being a Kings fan in the 70's I hated him.

  • destroyed!!!!

  • Seems like Gillies is always trying to catch ya sleeping, come at you when ya least expect it.

  • 2 seconds in you see pure concentrated FEAR on Jonathan's face when big Clark's gloves came off. A metaphor for the ENTIRE Bruin team back then whenever a real man challenged them.

  • @WatchVenusSpa I agree

  • i dont get how people were so excited when gillies won when he threw his gloves down and immediatly went after jonathon before he even got his gloves off if this was a fair fight and jonaton got his gloves off in time gillies would have been fucked to the wall

  • Stan Jonathan: The Heavyweight Champion of the NHL in Don Cherry's own mind and his own mind only. Once again we see that Cherry's Bruins were all talk.

  • @WatchVenusSpa

no he wasnt he was the toughest no question your a fuckin moron the bruins are historical for kicking the shit out of people and every other team has admitted it! they were not even close to all talk

  • @mooseman1231 Yet they never could cash it in for 40 years and had to wait 30 before THAT brief run. Every REAL team knew they just had to show up and the Bruins would quit. (Ask Don Cherry what it was like watching his guys turtle at the sight of the Canadiens, Flyers or Islanders. Hell even the LEAFS owned their asses back then.) Take Terry O Reilly out of the equation and it was the softest group of cowards the NHL has ever seen.

  • @WatchVenusSpa

really? not even close they had some of the toughest guys the league had to offer at that time clearly you dont know what your talking about when it comes to the vintage bruins they had stan jonathan, terry o'reilly, wayne cashman, al seacord (one of the craziest players ever), john wensink, teddy green, mike milbury, a few years before that they had derek sanderson, and even the goalie gerry cheevers fought people and was one of the first goalies to do so, and a few years later

  • @WatchVenusSpa

they had cam neely and jay miller and just a few years before them they had brad park and around cams era they had lyndon byers, nevin markwart, bob beers, and allen pederson so what are you talking about? those were some of the toughest guys of the 60s-90s no question about it and had the balls to take on anyone in the league learn your hockey and about vintage teams before you open your mouth

  • Gillies pummelled Stan in this

     one

  • Gillies got in Jonathans head and attacked quick.Gillies outwitted him.I wish they had a rematch. They both fought Behn Wilson twice who I considered probaly one of the baddest of all time and Jonathan feared better than Gillies on those occassions. If i were to pick who the better brawler was.I would take Jonathan.

  • Gillies with the win but damn that Jonanthan wouldnt back down to anybody and he took on some big tough customers--imagine if he was 6'2".

  • Gillies was too big and strong for Stan

  • @hecksing

no he wasnt he got lucky stan was the toughest fighter to ever come to the nhl

  • Gillies easily

  • Gillies was just too much for Jonathan!

  • @Bellicose27 so was Larry Robinson

  • @Bellicose27

no he wasnt he got lucky stan was the toughest fighter to ever come to the nhl

  • Ha, ya right sloe976. Jonathan tried to dump Trembley because he was tired of taking punches to the face. You forgot to mention that part.

  • One of the rare times You saw Stan w/o his helmet on before a fight

  • Gillies with the win!

  • Stan Jonathan was pound for pound the best fighter all time. Domi is second.

  • @windtested Welll...this pound for pound shit...got yr wish he got all the pounds...lol

  • @windtested Domi was all talk no action when it mattered against real fighters.

  • @windtested Terry Ruskowski was the same height and weight as Jonathan and pounded Jonathan into oblivion -- might want to update your list

  • Jonathan was a great fighter, had that sneaky take down move with the back leg but everyone gets it handed to them once in a while.

  • Clark was the toughest dude back then. Piss him off and watch out.

  • Jonathan was a tough guy, and I liked him, but he had not business messing with Gillies...

  • The Injun get FUCKING WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOPED. Well done Clarkie...

  • @felled injun? you fucking piece of shit racist punk

  • @taypax

fa ha ha ha ha huck u dickhead.

  • @felled you're a complete joke...

  • @felled

Shit boooooi. It hardly ever happens. Is that why it is such a big deal to you. Just for that comment, I fuckinn whoooooooooooooooooooooooping the next fucking white man I see, hopefully it's you.

  • @edirpevitan

Sure, but cash your welfare check, bring a lunchbox and MAKE SURE you have 100 per cent DENTAL Fucktard.

  • Jesus Gillies was about a foot taller and had 50 lbs on Jonathan. That's a TOUGH fucking dude with balls to spare!

  • Fans haven't realized yet that the next hockey fight that's a good one will also be the first. It's always the same. One player scores some punches w/o doing much damage, they dance around for a while trying to get leverage to land a shot. They might get in a few more glancing blows. They continue to dance. The ref gets between them and the fighting code dictates that they continue going after each other, so they continue dancing w/ the refs.

  • Easy win for Jethro

  • Johnathan got killed. ha.

  • Gillies a beast. Good player/enforcer

  • Gillies easy. Mario Trembley beat Johnathon too.

    Johnathon most overrated after Shultz.

  • @mustanghutch44 Trembly beat stan ? Who was cowering and holding on to the refs leg , begging for mercy.

  • gilles smoked him

  • Gillies killed Jonathan here....

  • A clear slip from jonathan. He acually stepped on the damn hockey puck and went down. (lucky for Gillies the refs got in there before Stan got up.)

  • @Godznrg4u he was holding the hockey puck between his teeth to keep Gillies from knocking the rest of them out

  • Gilles is huge! Was there a bigger guy back then?

  • @Forsure3333 in late 1970s? not many, only ones I can think of were willie huber 6'5' 225', gilles lupien was 6'6'' but a stork, paul holmgren, larry robinson, barry beck, behn wilson, willie plett, harold snepsts were all about the same size as gillies

  • this is what usually happened when Stan Jonathan took on heavyweights... guy's entire rep was based on ONE fight (Bouchard).

  • @BadApplesNJ Usually? Who else did this to him?

  • @BadApplesNJ Check out Wilson(twice) Dupont,Schultz,Garland,Bert Wilson, even middleweights like Williams and Gare. Then you would see that it wasn`t just Bouchard.Win Tie or Lose(very seldom) then you would see that Jonathan had more of a rep than just Bouchard. Not many wanted a part of him.

  • Jonathan was as tough and as game as anybody who laced up a pair of skates in the NHL, but was obviously a bit over-matched here

  • Quick fight, TKO-win goes to Gillies.

  • The toughest fighter pound for pound was the late Bob Gassoff. His punches were vicious. In addition, being slightly psychotic added a dangerous dimension. It was fun to watch.

  • Another win for Jethro !!!!!!!!!!!

  • Clark Gillies had some great fights with Terry O'Reilly, with Terry usually getting the shit beat out of him. O'Reilly never backed down and kept going back for more. He was a tough son of a bitch.

  • @TIMOTHYSAARINEN O'Reilly did have 2 big wins over Gillies in the 1980 playoffs.

  • @lakeerie90s, I do not remember that. I live in Maine, and the Bruins are the favorite team around here. (Not mine, Go Habs!) I'm sure I watched every game. I can't remember O'Reilly ever winning big against Gillies. I saw him hold his own a few times, but usually Terry got an ass kicking. I'm not saying you're wrong. I just don't remember it. Hockey was so much better then

  • @lakeerie90s "2 big wins "lol they fought a couple times during the 1980 playoffs and when they shook hands after the series O'reilly's face looked a lot worse[ {2 black eyes, cut over the nose} than Gilles who was unmarked..True O'Reilly outpunched him in a few fights but did no damage unlike Gilles whos did some heavy damage to Taz's face....

  • Jonathan was a tough fucker with a deceptive leg takedown move but he sure got smoked this time.

  • Jethro just mauls him, Way to go, Clarkie!

  • wow....Clark "The Bear" Gillies walloped Jonathan in this encounter. I guess Jonathan thought that Gillies might be another Pierre Bouchard but he sure found out quickly..lol!!!!!

  • Jonathan looks kinda like a little elf standing next to Gillies.

  • gilles could throw punches and play.two real good fighters.

  • Mismatch in weight classes

  • it was a mismatch of weight classes when Jonathan fought Bouchard of the Habs and what happened Bouchard got his face crushed in... weight classes don't matter when you're Stan "The Bulldog" Jonathan.

  • Fast KO.

  • yikes. a 4 second ko.

  • fuck you white trash can fuckin inbread

  • jonathan didn't do shit with out is HELMIT on

    that fuckin Indian

  • Johnathan would have won this fight if he grabbed Gillies pants...whoops ..oh .. I see, sorry, I mean Gillies TKO's Johnathan before this could. Did we Bruin fans ever mention that Jonathan never lost a fight..whoops..sorry again,..Kurt Walker beat him too.. Sorry Bruins fans your tough man is still the toughest...along with O'reilly..He also never grabbed pants iether..whoops except when losing a fight.

  • @johnyknine Say what you want. They were named the Big Bad Bruins for a reason.Even Bob Probert lost fights.I can`t think of one player in hockey that was truly undefeated in their.career except Gordie Howe who only had six fights.

  • @openedup09 ... You are right, I just get annoyed when Bruins or Flyers fans keep repeating how tough their teams were. Yes all fighters, even the toughest lost fights. Even Probert got knocked out by Todd Ewen.

  • Did Gillies ever lose a fight.?

  • yeah,against O'Reilly,they fought at least 4 times.Gillies lost 2 won 2.

    He also lost to Wilson.

He also lost a few tilts later on during is career,in Buffalo but he was past his prime.

  • I never saw Jonathan take such a beating!

  • gillies was an animal

  • an AWESOME Animal !!

  • who cares who wins the fights between Gillies and O'Reilly?

either way its one of the best individual rivalries hockey has seen

  • gillies won 3 and O'Reilly won 2

  • Gillies OReilly rd.5: OReilly beats the crap out of him.

  • Hah!! O'Reilly had to resort to hitting Gillies while he was down on the ice and then kicking him like a girl! See what happens when they square off.

  • they fought? i dont see what the difference was if he nailed him when he was down or if they squared off. i dont sit around and analyze fights. but stan is a tough guy and can admit he lost a fight and i doubt back then guys cared if they got punched on the ice. hockey was at its toughest back then

  • Terry was there an ready but Gillies wimped out.

  • Gillies felt bad for him and everyone felt bad for O'Reilly because he was taking such a beating.

Gillies is the best fighter of his generation, and certainly the best big man that could actually play the game.

  • Have to give Gillies a ton of credit --- he had balls to drop the gloves with Stanley!

  • @dempsey00 He doesn't usually beat on girls but what pickins does he have in Boston?

  • @hoyfanofboulder --- I guess your humor is too subtle for me, dude --- what's your point?

  • The Boston Bruins r the best hockey team ever

  • sure...especially they suck in the playoffs every year....keep cheering for em...they wont win another cup while youre alive. Gillies is a beast!!!!

  • 18-1

  • Oh yeah.

    18-1

  • The next week Gillies won a fight against Hervé "Tattoo" Villechaize. The Islanders are the laughingstock of the NHL.

  • How about Jonathan fighting Lorimar...or as yr drunk TV commentator the Turk was reffering to as LAR-MA?

  • Wrong again. Fred Cusick and another broadcaster whose voice I don't recognize called this game. PS-Lorimer was bigger than Stan and I know Stan would have gotten in some good shots on Gillies

  • @BostonGarden Cillies could have gotten really good shots if Wensink, O"Reilly, and Harry Sinden triple teamed him. What kind of frustrated comments you Bostonian jerk-offs make. Gilllies, typically, handily beat O'Reilly, End of the discussion.

  • @jcifv1 does anyone really care about the NHL any longer wow 6 teams might be gone, curling gets higher ratings then the NHL here in Canada andlast poll stated that 20% of teens in Toronto the hockey hotbed follows hockey less for the N.H.L.

  • @cindyns1 Nope. I quit watching hockey when they brought in the instigator and took the fighting out. I started watching MMA and 8 years ago got into BJJ. MMA is the fastest growing sport in the world and hockey is still where it was in the ratings in the 1980's. LOL at all the idiots who thought taking fighting out of hockey would sell the game better. Last I looked UFC was beating the Stanley cup in the ratings.

  • @jcifv1 Hey brainless. O'Reilly beat Gillies twice and a third was a draw. Way to make a fool out of yourself. Go ahead and post your address and phone number too. LOL

  • @BostonGarden whoops, selective memory.... you forgot to mention Gillies wasted O'Reilly the other 4 times they fought and carried the Isles to an easy playoff victory over Boston. Gotta love it when people like you decide to throw out 1/4 of the truth; shows you've got about 1/4 the intellect of normal people

  • @justice008a

you have it backwards O'Reilly wasted gillies the other 4 times actually watch the videos the next time

  • @mooseman1231 don't need to "actually watch the videos" -- I saw the games. You were still wetting your pants at the time. O'Reilly took so many beatings from elite fighters I give him credit for still being able to talk when his career ended

  • hi skippy...........lol

    you are the laughingstock....bosox....lol

  • @BostonGarden

    hi skippy......monkey.....lol

  • @huntercalgary Hunter you need to be quiet before I fuck you up. What's left of you, I'll hand over to Bosox so he can thrash you.

  • least he had the balls to go with a heavyweight almost half a foot taller! True fighters respect that......gutless couch potatoes just poke fun!......you know who you are.

  • almost half a foot taller? Try about 8 inches taller. STan may have been listed at 5'8 in the media guide, but it was well known that he was barely 5'6. The only player shorter was Bobby Lalonde who was just about an inch shorter. Lalonde was the smallest guy in the league at the time.

Gillies was listed at 6'3 210 and Jonathan was listed at 5'8 175. That's 7 inches and 35lbs if you don't account for Jonathan not quite being 5'8.

  • 18-1

Who the fuck has to cheat to beat the New York Jets?!?!?!?

  • NY had their camera man thrown out of Gilette Stadium the previous game at for doing exactly the same thing the Patriots did. The only rule they broke was having a camera on the sideline, when it's supposed to be in certain designated camera areas. The Jets did it to NE, but they didnt turn them into the league office. Spygate was the most overhyped, lamest sports story of the decade. The Patriots are 27-6 since the story broke...the best record in the NFL, and played 16 games without their MVP.

  • 18-1

  • NFL team of the decade! LMAO 3 superbowls bitch! LOL

    NEXT!

  • By the way...3 superbowls this decade! How many do you have Booster? LMFAO....We have an NBA championship, 2 World Series titles, and 3 superbowl hangovers that we are still recovering from! Not to mention we are Vegas favorites to win in every sport again this year. Kick back and watch the Sox dismantle the Yankees!

  • 18-1

    Not a Yankees fan.

  • You can write "not a Yankee fan" all you want because you're too embarrassed to put where you're from on your homepage! LMAO

No city in America has more world titles than Boston this decade, so wherever you're from, you can suck a turd out of our collective asses you anus sucking fecal freak!

Now go play in traffic you pickle-puffing cock-jockey! LMAO

  • Ok idiot, this is gong to be easy.

Not a Yankees fan because I am not a baseball fan, hockey is the only sport I care about. That said I live 10 minutes away from the Mets new feild and have been offered free tickets and never took them. Like I said, I could care less about baseball. The Yanks did play the Mets, but what was I doing? At my teams NHL draft party.

Now......the B's wear yellow and yellow is for cowards.

  • How many cups does your NY team have? Oh yeah....1 fewer than the Bruins! LMAO

The Bruins colors are black and gold, so I guess you got a little shit in your eye when you were sucking that turd from Boston's ass!

Throughout History, the Bruins have kicked the Ranger's asses. Hell, they even go into the stands to beat up pussies like you! Seeing Millbury take off that guiys shoe and beat him over the head with it is a classic! LMFAO

    Next!

  • The Bruins have 3 cups, both the Rangers and Isles have 4.....eventhough the Rangers won their three before light was invented.

4 is greater than 3, you must be a snaggletoothed Southie who didn't go to school.....or "kinderGEHDEN."

While you mull over embarrassing yourself with you subpar Math, I will sit here and laugh.

  • I'm sorry...you must have failed math! Another victim of the failed NY state school system! The Boston Bruins have 5 stanley cups, not 3 you assclown! While you sit there and laugh, realize that I'm laughing even harder pickleboy!

Thanks for playing! We do have some lovely parting gifts for you though! LMAO

  • The first three were not Stanley Cup's, they were Stanley bowl's.

    18-1

  • Must be embarrassing getting something wrong that even that retard Corky from Life Goes On could have googled! LMAO

It's ok Booster....just show me on the dolly where the bad man touched you!

  • Bruins have three...you stole two because you needed something to hold yr zizm as you were shining yr helmet to pictires of derek sanderson!

  • Do you think replying 4 times to a single comment somehow makes your 2 inch cock seem bigger? LMFAO Not quite Booster. O'Reilly POUNDED Gillies in their last fight as payback for Gillies jumping Terry at the end of a shift and hitting him while he was down in their 4th fight.

Gillies lost his 5th fight to O'Reilly far worse than Jonathan ever lost a fight! LMAO

  • @BoSoxnation1972

    damn your drool is childish.....twerp....lol

  • @spadesjim true, but Jonathan had this coming, so it's a bit harder to be empathic

  • Stan "I am only tall enough to smell others people assholes" Johnathan.

Can't be tough wearing piss yellow.

Go to the pehking loat and get in yah ceh.

  • I have a better idea Mrceebees14. How bout we giva ya mutha a call and I paak my cock in her ass ya retaaded bastid! Now run along assclown, before I paak my cah in ya ass!

  • 18-1

    Retard.

  • Ho Boston Sucks and one of his very clever comment !

How do you do it ? Do you breathe while writing ? Because with only one brain cell, I guess you just hold your breath. It's not that hard considering your vocabulary is

  • clown....lol

  • Fisrt you brag about Jonathan beating Behn Wilson (same height as Gillies) then when he matches up against someone atronomically tougher than "MUH POT-T-IE ON MUH HEAD" Wilson you complain...you want cherry picked sampson/delilah matchups?

  • Gillies was #1.

O'Rielly's face looked like he had kissed the A Train when Clarke got done with him.

  • nope Terry O'Reilly won all of those fights just look at the fights there on youtube

  • Ah, no he didn't.

I was there, I still have the newspaper articles, there were chunks of O'Reilly's face on the ice.

He was a warrior though, the fans at the Coliseum and even some of the Islanders saluted him. He took a merciless beating at the hands of the greatest fighter in NHL history.

  • No he didnt just search for the video on youtube he Gilles definitely lost to O'Reilly at least once

  • That is not what you said, you said O'Reilly won all of them, which it totally incorrect.

  • @tng150 Yr a drunk, Irish, Bostonian idiot.

  • So much for Jonathan being the "heavyweight champion of the NHL" eh Cherry? What a fucking chump.

  • Jonathans like 5'7 and half the size of Gilles...no way in hell he's going to win.

  • Gillies reach was no match for Jonathan...

  • Clear win for the very big and tough C Gillies, Stan was a very good brawler but not in the Gillies or Larry Robinson class

  • The Indian got scalped!!

  • C'mon Stan, you got to want it!

  • only Bruins fans would cheer loudly for a guy destroyed and outclassed as badly as that

  • You misread my sarcasm.

    Yeah, Jonathan got the beatdown.

    I'm not a Bruin fan, that's insulting.

Did you ever read their postings?

    Come off like Steven /Seagal.

And they live in the most gay-friendly state.

I heard Barny Frank is a Bruins fan-lol.

  • Best state in the Ynion by far my friend..and B's fans ALWAYS support the boys. ANd Barney Frank is a GREAT congressman....not some right wing idiot.

  • corncob is from mich....lol....look at him explain his clowning.....sad....lol

  • huh?

  • good one...........lol

  • idiot

  • yep, he sure did. everyone loses a couple

  • Gillies pummelled Stan let's be honest ok?

  • Clark was just to big and strong plus he could fight for the small Jonathan to have a legit shot in winning

  • funny, everyone say;s stangot beat up in this fight, but when the camera showed a closeup of jonathans face, there wasn't a mark on him. deception ,or perception?

  • shut up asshole! always looking for some daylight of a shit remark/excuse!

    F'n bostonians.

  • tom jones? tom jones? get the fuck outa here!

  • damn Gillies must have been a grizzly to take out Johnathan. It was amazing how Stan would take out guys of all sizes. these days there's some code where the smaller guys and bigger guys do not go at it.

  • The Referees let everything go back then without calling a Penalty.

Not like the Pussy sucky players today that can be protected from their multi million dollar players little pinkie
