it's so sad that this series got canceled. this really was the only real good animated sonic ever made. it had an actual EVIL villain. if only all the other robotniks/eggmen were more like the one in this show.

@GunplaProductions i don't think the problem is with sonic himself, rather the transition to a 3D environment is what screwed the games over. to be honest, and as a huge sonic fan it pains me to say it, i just can't see a good sonic game happening in a 3D world (not counting sonic adventure that was good). hell you don't even go to speacl stages to get the chaos emeralds anymore. thus making it impossible to become super sonic until the last mission.

Heroes had a good idea, with the team thing and all. It was just badly executed. It also had returns to form: special stages, Sonic's in his own world, Metal Sonic, and little nods to the Genesis games. I still think it's good for what it is.

No, Shadow the Hedgehog is what started the downfall. Sonic 06 is what made Sonic hit rock bottom. Unleashed had him crawling back up again, Colors shot him upward, and Generations will most likely take him through the roof.

What I've noticed is that every since the nostalgia critic reviewed the old DiC video game cartoons ( Ie: AoSth, SMBSS, Zelda, & Captain N), everyone started randomly bashing them for no reason, and quoting him. Granted those show's didn't have great writing, but were watchable, and fun at times. There were bad episodes, and there were good episodes. Don't get me wrong, the Critic's hilarious, and has a point, but just because the critic reviewed it doesn't mean it isn't enjoyable.

AoStH: Good, slapstick humor is funny but every episode was pretty much the same.

SatAM: Great, but it was based more off the games and the show didn't seem as good as the original comic it was based off of.

Sonic Underground: Horrible. End of.

Sonic X: Wouldn't be that bad if it was better drawn and didn't have Chris, or Earth for that matter. Plus the dub was the worst I had ever seen.

Actually, AoSTH was based more off of the games than satAM.

Proof:

AoSTH had Rings(satAM had more of them though), Chaos Emeralds, Star Poles, Special Zones, actual VG badniks, and zones from Sonic 1 and Sonic 2.

satAM had Rings, the Robotisizer, the Floating Island(minus Knuckles):), Time Stones(looked nothing like the ones on Sonic CD).

Actually, the comic was based on the SHOW, and Adventures had far more game references. This show was the most unique video game cartoon out there back in 1992/93 in my opinion basically turning a simple premise and turning into something grand and epic.

Wrong. The comic went many issues before Nicole came in, and also before Sally's permanent red hair + jacket design. Also, if you read some of the fan letters at the back of the early comics, you'll see questions of "is there really going to be a cartoon".

The comic was first published in February 1993, and the shows both came out in September 1993 and both the shows and comics feature the same basic Robotnik design, as well as SatAM having the same story.

The comics didn't pick up the SatAM storyline until a fair time after the show came out. Prior to that, it was basically an Adventures comic, if only in tone.

That said, once the SatAM storyline found is home in the comics, the comics became FUCKING AMAZING.

The comics started before Adventures even existed. When the comics FIRST STARTED OUT, they had the evil Robotnik, those plain robots of his, pollution, freedom fighters, Robotropolis, and Uncle Chuck.

When Adventures came, they basically took the design of Archie's Robotnik, changed it to look more comical, and took the humor and "sonic sez" things from the comics (Yes, Sonic Sez was in Archie first) and made their own, original series. SatAM didn't start until probably 20 comics in...

...and, again, took the story from the comics. When Comic #13 came out, the comics got serious, because that featured Knuckles when Sonic 3 was new at the time and the writers realized they could do more plot with the Master Emerald and Floating Island.

I remember this series and another Sonic series called the Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog. AOSTH was pretty much slapstick humor, but SatAM kicked ass. Everything was good about it. The theme song pretty much takes the cake though.
