Like most things in life, I think Twitter is what you make it and I see no harm in saying what you're doing if it adds value to the community you're involved in.
One quote in particular that I like which relates to this was said by Jeremiah Owyang. He said, "New to twitter? Here's a tip; answer "what's important to me" instead of "what am i doing."
