  • This is a wonderful peformance in my mind. The pain tht is shown so simply in his face clearly just sells it for me.

  • what the hell is Kyle Massey doing ima need for him to sit down somewhere and give his mic back to aaron tveit

  • Do not like Kyle Dean Massey one bit, I think his voice is awful.

  • those eyebrows are astounding.

  • Great voice on Brian:)

  • i'm in love.

  • he's so sick.

  • my favorite

  • i didnt shrek had a mentally ill wife...

  • @potofgold321 Fiona had a transpecies crisis and never really got over it.

  • that was an amazing performance. My heart broke for Dan...

  • You have one of the best voices iv ever heard!

  • I just hear Shrek now. o,o is that accent natural or something?

  • I find it interesting that the poster of this video felt the need to say that this song was performed live... It's on Broadway! It's always live! :P

  • Where was this performed?? This is so amazing

  • OMG if you liked this at all....watch/listen to Asa Somers do it WAY BETTER!

  • Best. Eyebrows. Ever.

Also, he's an magnificent performer. His performance in the song "Let me Drown" from the Wild Party is the most captivating thing I've ever seen on stage.

  • Both Brian d'Arcy James and J Robert Spencer are both amazing.

  • you can really see the pain in his eyes... aww

  • I adore this man so much. I also adore Bobby Spencer. I don't think one is better than the other at all, since they're so different. But one thing I will say for Brian is that he looks/sounds more like the typical suburban husband somehow. Maybe it's the eyebrows. ;)

  • I love Brian's Dan, it's much more emotional, and just plain sad. Bobby's was more of an angry, grabbing-at-strings, not as understanding thing.

I could never chose between the two though, they just play the character so differently and so well.

  • Best performer in the business at the moment in my opinion.

  • hes soo talented it frustrates me...ahhh!!!

  • Bobby Spencer is great, but I think Jones seems much more pained when he sings this song. AND I LOVE IT!!! I wish he would have stayed with Next To Normal.

  • @Meteoria

    *James. My bad.

  • Brian is such an amazing Dan, he really is the one character who was relatable.

  • the emotion he puts into this song is perfect..

  • all i hear when he sings now is shrek. :)

  • he sucks

  • Brian d'Arcy James is THE best musical theatre actor in the country. We're so lucky to have him.

  • futuresuperstar4life this is for the national tour. The tour cast went on a news station, ( only god knows which one?), to advertise.

  • @horerfandod3 ........This is a performance on Good Morning America from May. It had nothing to do with the tour, except for mentioning it when introducing the cast. This is Brian D'Arcy James & Kyle Dean Massey who were/are in Next To Normal on Broadway....not on tour, haha. Unless I'm missing something about what you wrote, lol.

  • SHREK <3

  • what performance is this...like wat event

  • LOVE this song. this musical. this actor!!

  • if anyone has bootleg of his 2nd run with n2n id love to see it. this video doesnt do him justice, he was simply incredible.

  • At the beginning of the song, he tries to impersonate Bobby a bit too much, but by the chorus, its his own song.

  • @david88441 D'arcy James originated the role, not J. Robert. But, I'm sure you knew that :)

  • @JodyJoda well if you wanna get technical you could give that credit to Norbert Leo Butz, or whoever was the first workshop Dan. I think it was him

  • If Brian had stayed with the show till it reached Broadway he would have won the Tony for the s=role.

  • A second ago I was watching Monty Python.

Now I'm in tears, 10 seconds into the video.

  • I like his voice, but i'm just not sure it fits Dan. Bobby Spencer blew me away so i guess no one can compare in my mind.

  • @MagicMakerProduction Actually, he was the original Dan before Bobby Spencer. I saw it off-Broadway before it got big, and Brian stole the show. I like Bobby, but Brian was so much more complex and engaging.

  • @bshern i've only heard the soundtrack with bobby spencer but he is much more how i imagend the character to look

  • @bshern agreed completely. I absolutely love Brian and he really brings out the character of Dan. Bobby is talented, but he doesn't portray the character of Dan very well. Brian amazes me in this role

  • Brian d'Arcy James, you are one of the performers in musicals that excel to beyond the normal and known.

    amazing performance :)
