Thank you for taking the time to do the research and making the prototype. No it cant compete with a 200 horse engine on power and it cant touch the run time of a gasoline engine but people like you are taking the steps in the right direction. It wont be long before it will, I think it's awsome!
When you consider most lakes wont let you on with 2-stroke or MTBE(sp?) gas in your tank, I think $2,500 is a good starting price. After all, it's a new product. The price will come down when the market picks up; same as usual. At least this motor is 10 horse, not 4 like the Aussie one I'm seeing on other y-tubes
Must be oil company stooges. One from OPEC and one from Exxon.
Or maybe just two contented gasoline/oil slaves.
Why can't I find this item on the web?
Was it a one of a kind prototype?
Very impressive, but I really would miss the noise, pollution, gas smell, and fumes.
Then there is the issue of having so much torque immediately with an electric as opposed to waiting for a gas engine to struggle to get torque and move the boat. I would miss not having to wait for power.

Nice boat motor. Hey moron, electricity is 100% more effecient than gas. Do you realize how much energy in combustion is wasted by heat? Take a science coarse, then get a clue.
A little to pokey for me. How about we bring back the fume carborator? Thats way more effeciant. Oh wait. I could get shot for bringing that up. GO AHEAD AND SHOOT ME FORD MOTOR COMPANY AND OIL COMPANIES! LOL
It's OK for putting around, or short runs, otherwise the batteries required will eliminate the number of people on it due to their weight, it's not practical.
LiFo deep cell can be drained to 100% and a small solar panel would recharge this in no time while you go ashore.I will get one for my dinghy and not worry about fuel costs.Even taking the yanmars out of my cat and replacing with electrics.I don't care about the whole global warming scam I am more interested in being self reliant.
Until Yamaha or Mercury gets in this game these tinkers will abound. The biggest problem no company standing behind this or any of these tinker motors. This ones is to loud and the user interface is toyish at best. Circuits are not ready for a marine enviroment. I know I've seen one in action. Disappointing
I need to agree with you, go look at his site I don't see any electric power head just gas to bad he don't have something to show but what he has bought.
yeah mate before you comment on other peoples videos stating that they are stupid try watching one of your own. what a waste of 3 minutes of my life that was. Agreat idea thou electric powerhead thats going to last all of about 2 minutes in the marine industry. nice one...........mug
You still have to have a yamaha outdrive and running the motor through the transmission would sap the efficiency wouldn't it? But it sure does get that little fishing cat moving! Impressive.
well when they can come up with a motor that makes over 200 hp, can run for 8 hours at full speed, and then recharge fully for another 8 hour run in under 10 minutes then they can start competing with gas motors. we need new fuels, electricity is too inefficient.
electricity is inefficient? how do you figure? Electricity controls your life, you couldn't even pump your gas if it was not for inefficient electricity. when electric technology progresses to the stage ice engines are at i think i would prefer electric power over fuel. Only thing holding electric back right now is the run and charge times, i did read of new battery technology that can be charged in 20 min, i believe there are electric cars with 400 horse
Run time depends on your battery bank and how much you use the throttle. Reducing the speed of a boat reduces the battery power requirements dramatically; a 20% reduction in speed doubles the run time, and a 50% reduction gives eight times the run time.

do you Remember when you could watch a video without having to sit through a commercial?
Remember when music videos were uploaded by users and not VEVO
Remember when all the info was to the right of the video?
Remember you could rate a video 1-5 stars?
Remember the famous yellow subscribe button?
Remember when the users controlled the site and now corporations?
Post this in every video and lets start a youtube revolution!
Thumbs up to keep at the top of the page

I like it!bit small, good for the run about though.let the wind turbine charge it, and free ship to shore.

Looks to me like a AXE motor speed controller controlling a series-wound DC motor or maybe a SEP-EX DC motor. Very torquey indeed.

would it be possible to convert an old motor

The motor runs at 24 or 36VDC

This is probably the best electric motor for boats I´ve seen

Thanks.

to bad it cost 2500$ thats dumb when you can get it for 1500 gas. you dont even need to charge the battery's with gas
hockeyi721 4 years ago
This is a viable solution for ICE restricted waterways.
Msharer 4 years ago
oh well they should make a cheaper design thats a little more practical
hockeyi721 4 years ago 2
afraid of progress. you can still buy your gas motor. I heard nothing in this video saying they were trying to force out gas engines.
reverendMike 4 years ago
no, i saying. It would be cool to have electric but they want 2500$ for it. Its not worth it.

@hockeyi721 yea try that when gas prices are 8 dollars a gallon-(and it will be)--then go use gas...your gas engines are dinosaurs...
porpoisefathom 1 year ago
@hockeyi721 yeah but you dont half to pump 4.50 a gal gas into it either.
