you can tell there is a jazz background here. As articulate as it is, she has swing, not just magnificent technique. Notice the ease even though it is percussive. She makes it seem effortless and it must be since her legs are crossed! I couldn't play Twinkle, Twinkle with crossed legs!!!! Another good performance is Shan Shan Sun's, Her fingers fly as well, but Valerie makes it look and sound fun.
Almost looks like it's been sped up..... If it hasn't then fair shout, in the top recordings of this piece on you tube. Shame about the recording quality, piano sounds like something out of the corner of the pub! T.
@snowfijn There is no speeding up. Check out Giuseppe Andaloro's two versions which are even faster - and ridiculously so. This version, although technically as good as ANYONE's, is also a tad too fast - but not much. It is very unfortunate that this level of excellence has become commonplace. There are probably right now 100,000 pianists in China alone who can do this - but the world cannot absorb them all.
@Stofferdoffer No offense, but I personally dislike Giuseppe Andaloro's interpretation. I don't know if he did that on purpose, but it doesn't sound artistically pleasant at all. The tempo is inconsistent, a lot of mistakes, and it sounds like chainsaw...
@Lstyle1703 I agree, I think it's horrible. He plays it twenty times faster than he can actually play it, and about half of the keys he hits are the wrong ones. Every amateur interpretation of that piece here on youtube is way better than what he played. This one here is very cool, tough :)
Great. Except the piano youre playing on is terrible, horrible for sensitive touch. It's harder to express the different voices without it sounding like mush in this case.
Valeria you are simple the best! Nevermind those idiots who say that your recording is sped up. Many people play this even faster but a few are as accurate as you. Regards from Brazil!
@snowfijn First thing that came in my mind (i'm Dutch, the terrible cliché) when i read your comment (to argue if it is really sped up) is methylphenidate
v ery well but the sound isnt pretty good. im learning it tooo but im 13 years old so i think i have a half year to learn it!!! lol!!! i love it!!! XD
@enriquem90 It's really hard to compare since this is made with jazz musician background, meaning the technical difficulties are quite different than in chopin or liszt etude. Basically this is probably easier for a jazz pianist than a classical.
@enriquem90 yup, it's tough. i posted a version on here, and you can see me sweating. if you had to compare it in difficulty to a chopin or liszt etude, i would say it's up there with feux follets (transcendental #5)...which also took me a while to learn. but, as Aul1kki says, you can't really compare them...different approach. this rendition is the best version i have heard on youtube. this pianist is brilliant.
