Its the mass. And how many different composers have written musical compositions that were originally for tge church. So you will find many Kyries etc.
ive been wondering if beethoven is the original composer, ive emailed college choral instructers and havnt had any luck, if you know anything, please email me at whiteboy5354@gmail.com thank you to who helps.
@sstuddert Keep in mind that masses where extremely common compositions: a majority of composes wrote them. The names of the movements are often the same, so there are multiple versions of the same piece by different composers that sound completely different, but it's not like one composer copied the work of somebody else and made it to there own liking, the only used the same text. The music for each one is their own original composition. Beethoven definitely composed this version.
I was in a chorus that sang this piece when I was an undergrad. One of the experiences that has inspired me to continue singing this type of repertoire for the 20 years since then!
Magnificent !! I would expect nothing less from the London Philharmonic Orchestra. The sound quality of this recording is awesome too. Thanks for posting this so we can all be inspired.
This was one of " my best discoveries :::::-)" while living in Vienna, Austria; I had never heard it before while, in the States, nor have I since returning,

@NoBl3RS what do you mean by "if Beethoven is the original composer"? He most is certainly the only composer of this particular work.

I'd love to have this done as part of an actual Mass again. Truly an example of Augustine's claim that the use of music multiplies one's prayers.

This wonderful mass is being performed nowadays more often. My favourite part of it is the GLORIA ending.
greve 1 year ago
@greve you mean the "quoniam tu solus (6:31 in the Gloria)"? If so, I agree, it's the best part.
