The Social Network is not nonfiction. Zuckerberg never had that blow out with his gf (he is actually still with his long time gf from before facebook was ever started, and the website that he first creates in the film never actually existed). This movie takes extreme liberties, only being based on a true story, so to blame any faults on confinement due to it being nonfiction is mute.

John you are right. We should judge films in their own category. As piranha wasn't made to have deep characters, vivid plot, and inspirational acting performances. The key elements are done well in Piranha, but lacking in the visuals for the Piranha. A gimmick film must have great gimmicks.

Sometimes a movie "knows what it is". Like The Expendables was pretty a film that threw together all of these meat head, action film types to make exactly what action movie purists enjoy... nothing but action scenes. I enjoeyd the plot even though it was hard to see Stallone as the lead, my fiance enjoyed the action. I enjoyed the gore in Piranha and he enjoyed the nudity.

I actually agreed with you for the most part. I think Social Network deserved at least a 9 if not a 10, and I too thoroughly enjoyed Pirahna because it's pure entertainment. You have to go into it expecting it to be a lot of fun and not some brilliantly crafted screenplay/Oscar contender. It completely fulfilled it's purpose.
