Good video!!! While I really liked Serenity, I have to admit I am with other posters that the killing of Wash was such a downer for the movie. I guess it served its purpose, in the sense his death was dramatic but it still sucked. Wash was one of the highlights of the show , I liked that he sort of the every guy type in the show. He was a great pilot, but he wasn’t openly heroic or tough like Mal and Jayne. Plus you got give it to guy that could hook a hot warrior woman like Zoe.
@Browncoatt22, which means what, exactly? I always been much more a fan of Firely than I am of it's progenitor. Whedon has always been a mixed bag and without question, this has been his best work to date. I mean, seriously. After all the effort to make Serenity a reality he thought the best way to treat Browncoats was to randomly kill off a beloved character?
@vaxxon1 Serenity was intended to be a three film deal. But I think sometime while making this one Whedon either heard the other two weren't going to happen or probably accepted that like nearly everything else he makes it wouldn't get a fair chance and the other two films would never get made. And he was right. So I think his reasoning for killing Wash was that it symbolised the death of his show, in killing the most beloved character. It also made audiences think perhaps no one would survive.
@vaxxon1 And by Whedon thing I mean, he really cares about his shows, I mean really cares. Perhaps too much, and perhaps sometimes it makes them less than perfect. But be aware that everything he makes he makes with such love for it that if it fails/doesn't get a fair chance he takes it properly personally. He has stated in a few interviews that Firefly getting cancelled broke his heart, and he has never fully recovered, that is how he treats his work.
@vaxxon1 No, give Whedon some credit. The crew of Serenity were very well crafted characters, think about how much love he must have put into creating them. So to suggest he killed one of them off 'randomly' and without a thought is, I think, insulting. It was probably the hardest decision he had to make in the whole film.

Love the vid and Serenity but hated the fact that Wash got killed. That was just plain stupid.

@vaxxon1 If you feel he 'randomly' killed off such a well-loved character then I imagine you're probably doing Whedon a grave insult.

@ShanksDChopper, then I say you have an overly active imagine. From someone who loved Firefly, it was random.
