  • @soccermania008 gimp is free so yes, and yes you can use it on a mac i do.

  • LOL GIMP ;o

  • Can you then take this, save it, and then re open it in light room or whatever other processing softwares?

  • Thank you so much! Really helped me with my Freerunning pics!!

  • whats the best and cheapest camera for this?

  • @GodsAnEmo best and cheapest, that is two different things. best is a nikon d3s, cheapest is a point and shoot that can do 4fps minimum.

  • @dombower *Cough* Canon 5D mark II *cough*

  • @GodsAnEmo Sony a55 will easily get the job done at 10fps full resolution shots. The a33 is a cheaper alternative that shoots at 7fps. They are both under 750 now.

  • @GodsAnEmo canon 20d also gets 5-6 fps. and theyr'e cheap.

  • @GodsAnEmo the fuji s2950. takes 20 pictures fastly

  • Longboard photos! :D

  • awesome job man, so helpful. thanks so much!

  • Thanks man for your help

Nice explanation, i just tried it and made it perfectly

  • can i do this with a video i took from my tripod if i like grab frames from it

  • @TMStopmotion if you have taken the video frames at a fast enough speed to freeze the sportsman in mid action, also the video files might be quite small, but perfectly possible

  • i hate to break this to you. but that guy is on skiis not a snowboard :/

  • hi just want to ask....what program is that for editing jump sequence. thanks in advance!!!

  • @NWOcommander did you not look at the title? or the description or the link in the description

  • 2:07 2:10 :D

  • lol thanks this helped me a lot!

  • Dom, I have been having problems with the "clouds" in my images. They have the same appearances like in this demo. I am using Photomatix (for HDR) to bring 3 images together but the result is the same with regards to the affects on the clouds with the sharpness and color being off. I've tried increasing shutter speed to offset the movement of the clouds but no success.

Any idea what is going on and how to correct this problem. It has become real annoying.

    Thanks,

    The Meltdownman

  • i have a video that i want to become a sequence picture.. I have the video in imovie.. any help?

  • WoooooooW this is AWESOME!!! Dom you are the best!!!

  • hi Mr Dom Bower.. thanks man for the tutorial..just got mine done on skateboarders..Fm. Singapore. Cheers!

  • thanks, very nice

(but you erased the lower part of the guy behind the jumper (in the third picture))

  • what version of gimp is this?

  • errr, thats a skiier..

  • an easier way is just using marquee tool and marquee the skier, invert and delete

  • I have to thank you. Your videos has really helped me in my technical education, we do PS and gimp in a special "beside lesson".

So thanks to you and all of my classmates in Sweden! :)

  • is anyone more than pissed that it is impossible to do this in aperture? it doesn't even need to to be a full feature in fact a plug-in might even be better

  • Just a tip I picked up from chase jarvis' similar vid about shooting snowboard sequence for sandisk, on the very first frame, you could have changed the background to a more pleasing sky, then laying the other images in after would have been no more difficult.

  • @HHtomphoto humm good idea! will try that next time

  • thanx dude

  • sweet tut dude lol

  • Thank you!your videos are very useful!!!

  • thanks

  • HILLEND :) :) :)

  • correct

  • how good does you camera have to be to take these kind of pictures? can you do these kind of photos with a Pentax E-X camera? (4,7 Pictures Per Sec in jpeg, and 5PPS in RAW)

  • should be perfectly fine for the job then. make sure your shutter speed is super fast and you have enough light

  • Ya this is much better so much easier thanks a lot!

  • ohh sorry thnx man...

  • is there a free progam out there that can do this??

  • look at the title

  • last time i checked GIMP was free

  • Hey Dom Love the Videos man but hey can u tell me a little how you editted the picture in the beginning of this video with the model and the ghosts and all those pretty cool effects...I use GIMP alot actually my main source of editing...thx

  • oh the screen image i have on my computer? that is a very difficult one. nearly 12 images, hdr, non hdr etc. the image took me over an hour of solid editing and was 2GB in size in the end. not someting i can do a video of as computer will die

  • Oh wow lol I guess im going have to learn it on my own but what 12 images where used? if you dont mind... lol

  • thanks man thats was really very easy and nice waiting to take a photo i like this way

  • small detail. those are skis not a snowboarding.

  • i was slightly drunk during the editing of the picture

  • Noooo, seriously??? Good thing you told us -.-

  • yeah thanks ! What can i do if i dont want the Rider so close together?

  • omg i freaking love you.. thanks so much!

    Cheers fella

  • get a better com[uter.

  • Great tut. It's always impressive if someone can do something very complicated, it's more impressive if someone can do it in a simple way.

  • @GIMPtricks thanks.

  • awesome dude!!!

  • Great tutorial Dom :)

  • Great Tut!

  • Great tutorial!

One reason that it is great, is that you are using a great free piece of software, Gimp!

Yes, Photoshop is brilliant, but at a steep price.

I am from England, but I live in Taiwan, and your tutorials are essential.

    Keep em coming.

  • great tutorial!

  • Great tutorial Dom!

This is exactly the kind of thing I'm trying to do with my A2 photography work at college, this will help alot!

  • what does the A2 mean? what kind of things are you learning about at college?

  • A2 just refers to the second part of the A-Levels.

  • A2 is just the second year at college.

In the first year we were taught what appature does, shutter speed, +/- exposure, simple stuff like so, and then move from digital to film.

The second year mainly consists of working through the year to make a portfolio and exhibition peiece.

  • good portrait stuff? ok will think about how to do more tips on that stuff

  • OK Smartypants! yes i am on a pc.

but yeah stichler is right it should be free on mac as well. give it a go, google gimp and mac and see what magic happens

  • Cool! pimp me out to your class!

  • This is really cool but is there GIMP for Mac too ??

  • how do you know i am not using a mac?

  • LOL hahha maybe because the pointer is white ?? Please tell me Dom ??

  • Nice. What is song at the beginning?

  • 31 seconds by a band called spy, or J Ralf! they rock

  • I use Gimp and lightroom so its nice to see all the videos you have with Gimp. I really appreciate them. Thanks from Michigan U.S.A.

  • HELLO THERE! michigan! man its great i dont have to shout too loud to reach all the way to the usa. thaks for the comment

  • Thats cool! You made it very easy for us to understand! Very informative! Also, I'm a fan of the seemingly random truck in the background.

  • red bull truck you will see! red bull! but it is a very random truck thats for sure, thanks for the comment

  • you made it look easy. Thanks for the turorial.

  • it seems like other photographers want it to look complicated to make them seem more clever!
