If you saw it now you probably wouldn't be interested. Roll cage broke, basket broke, fire extinguisher fell off. snorkel was too heavy and caused a carb. leak. But I am about to hopefully part trade for a truck. sorry

What's the difference between PVC and ABS pipe?

@chicagolandhobby ABS is just a stronger composite and is black, where as pvc is used for irrigation and water systems and is more flexible and breakable.

@chicagolandhobby id recomend abs in the building of a potato cannon because it will just crack if there is a barrel blockage instead of splintering in sharp pices like pvc.

That thing doesnt hit 50, I have a custom built 250cc buggy with a 15hp engine and a snorkel and it hits 45 top and has a deadly amount of torque and power

i had a 5 hp go kart with this spring thing on the throttle and it stretchs when u push the gas to limit how much gas it gets and how fast it goes i took it off and it went from like 15 mph to like 25 and i got a bigger go kart with the same 5 hp engine that goes like 30 mph with the spring thing still on when i take it off im thinkin it will go atleast like 45 do you agree? cause ik 5 hp engines top out at like 45-50 mph....

@cmfthesk8er UGH 5Hp engines do not fucking top out a 45 50 mph maybe maybe 23-25 maybe, i have 2 carts, a custom built 250cc buggy and a small yerf dog go cart 6.5hp and it hits about 20

before i messed with my go kart it went 25-28 ses right on the book that came with it... it goes 40 no problem all depends on weight and gearing

It basically tightens the belt as you go faster and puts more torque to the wheels.

it doesnt tighten the belt, but centrifugal force squeezes the primary clutch (attached to engine) closed which makes the belt ride higher on it giving it a higher gear ratio.

now the tension created by the belt being forced a longer distance opens up the secondary clutch and the belt is allowed to ride lower in it. so the bet always has the same tension on it but the gear ratio changes.

with this setup, known as a CVT the engine can stay at the same rpm and speed or torque will increase

lol i have a rare murray gokart with snorkle but the engine is 38hp briggs&stratton but it blowe up so i have a briggs&stratton5.5hp but it has snorkel to ill send pics if you want but the axle broke off from muddbogging in ponds

hey man, sweet kart! im workin on mine right now and i got an 8hp tecumseh and i was looking at some adapters for air filters, do those bends and turns in the pvc really help air flow that much? or could i do a straight pipe thats like half a foot and a k &n filter on the end? or would doing it with pvc be better? also that brown metel thing comin out, is that your muffler pipe? did that boost preformance cuz right now i got a stock tecumseh muffler. thanks again and sweet cart dude

Hi, thanks and ya the bends force the air to speed up as they go into the engine. Like have you ever noticed on a roller coaster how the turns whip you realy fast, it's the same idea. And i used abs pipe it's stronger and thicker than pvc.

Looks pretty cool dude! I was thinking of making a snorkel for mine but went with one of those water repellant outerwears filters instead. If you find some taller front tires could you PM me? Ive been looking for a while for them. If you want some more power you could advance the timing by like 4 degrees. If you google affordable go karts they have a guide that shows you how. I did it on my 7hp subaru and it helped gain some bottom end.
