I'm glad I found this. I learned to crochet a loooong time ago, and had forgotten how to make this. Now I need to know how to make a square with more than one color! Thanks so much!
I'm hoping you can answer my question, I am doing the stitching and I understand the concept of doing them; however upon completion my work curls, can you possibly tell me what I'm doing wrong.
@tweetyh2 If it curls, you could be making your chains to tight. You can loosen the chains or try working an extra chain with each chain segment and see if that will help.
I did it!!! Finally I did a Granny Square!! I'm so excited because I have tried this so many times and I finally did it!! I know I probably sound really corny but I am glowing with pride right now! Thanks Teresa!
Check out how your video is being used! We need more knitters to make blankets for children in our local shelters! Thank you for the very clear, slow, thorough tutorial! facebook.com/pages/Urban-Roots-Artisans/237884032904024
Well all the comments here seem to be positive, though would just like to say thank you myself. Amazingly helpful video! Thanks so much for doing such a great job of explaining :)
Thank you so much for this video! I struggled to get the hang of it when my aunty tried to show me. your instructions are very clear and easy to follow. Having it in slow motion makes it easy to follow the instructions too. I can now do a Granny Square, so thank you very much!
omg i didnt know you had to stop after four rounds can i just continue on please reply i need to know and if not what pattern do i use to make a full blanket with out making squares and connecting them
@laffytaffylalala You don't have to stop at 4 rounds. I could keep recording for a long time but it will be repetitive and the same as what the first 4 rounds covers. As long as you are working your corner increases, the square will continue to get larger, so you can make a larger blanket.
OMG....I have watched SO many videos on how to make the granny square, and I must say that yours is the best. You explain what your going to do before you actually do it and you do it in slow motion so you can actually see what you are doing. This is the granny square I've been looking for to make a blanket. THANK YOU :)
Hi i am crocheting a blanket at the mo granny square but curls up any ideas how to stop this and would border stop it from happening ? its taken me a while but made it
I finally got it. I have watched so many videos but this was the best. I will be watching more of Teresa. I really want to crochet and have a lot to learn. Thank you.
@MentalLlama22 That would indicate to me that you may have missed the increase stitches in the corners. If you look below the video, you will find a link to written instructions. There is a symbol chart posted on my crochet blog that will provide additional details.
this is the best video on granny squares seen yet, very good teacher..:)

Thank you so much for posting this!
However, since I am a beginner, I thought it was funny that your slow mo was faster than me at regular speed!
