at my riding stables i nearly always ride in a bitted bridle and the horses never behave as if they hated the bit or as if it was hurting them.

I LOVE BITLESS BRIDLES. There is NO EXCUSE and NO REASON to ever use a bit EVER. I have FIVE horses: ex-racehorse thoroughbred 17.2 hh hot horse never had any problems stopping him; 15.2 morgan no any problem with stopping him and 18 hh percheron that was a real mover who had a hard bit from previous owner, I never have any problems nor the 18.3 hh percheron. I don't ride the old rescue stallion. I REFUSE to use a bit I agree that it is dangerous especially with rearers like my thoroughbred
