Paul Wellers cover versions c.d of a few years ago was like watching a sunday pub rock band playing 3rd rate fake soul cover versions.. while slowly dancing as if kicking fag butts across the floor with rubbish Italian shoes.. Bruce and Rick at least inject a bit of life into Pauls songs.. oceon colour scene are like a fourth rate butlins tribute band, with a frowny humourless git for a singer pretending to be so angry with his guitar. but actually playing it like he is stiring gravy.
Wake up you morons !!! This is just a high profile pub type tribute band. Just shows how desperate Foxton and Buckler are for a bit of cash. if this lot were playing in my backyard, i'd shut the curtains.
I didnt know that. Anyone who picked up a bass in 78 onwards wanted to play like Foxton. Never met one single person who said i want to play bass like that guy from oceon colour scene ever.
He has always been a frowny faced angry man but back then he had something to say.. He will never give Bruce or Rick the credit they deserve in the arrangment of these songs. Its like he has borderline peronality disorder or something. He could never say ''Bruce and Rick were great'' he simply can't.
You could always go and buy Pauls folk c.d. personally i would rather he acknowledge Rick and Bruces contribution and give us a proper jam reunion and not a c.d of folky hey nonny noo steeleye span covers.
Well said red777. So many people have a problem (such as wingedheels) with the boys doing this. But really, what harm are they doing??? They're giving people like myself who never saw the jam live the chance to see Jam tunes played by 2 of the original and give those people lucky enough to see them one hell of a nostagia trip... and Russ does a brilliant job.
i saw them a loads of time and they still blast out in my car ,i dont get why people have a problem ,these are the same dickheads who at the time used to say to me ime a weller fan thats all the jam is after all .iwould pay to see bruce play bass on any jam song befor i would to hear paul play from the floor boards up ,and ime a weller fan aaaaaaaaaaaaaarrrrrrr they piss me off ime off to lose my gut and bounce up and down again to private hell -take care
but seriously, im not trying to put bruce or from the jam down but it just doesnt look anywhere near as good as the jam did it. Im only going from what i see on youtube though. I'm too young to have seen the Jam live.
dont get me wrong i am a weller fan but in the words of kieth ritchards as individuals the stones are ok musicians but put together they are brilliant
i like wellers songs but i would pay more to see 2 out of the three jam play together, i think if weller did one gig me and dad would sell our life savings (and all my future savings) to see it
The Jam had a huge influence on me as a young Mod. I was never into the Northern soul/ 1960's music at all. Many a happy hour spent on Scooter rallys all over the country on my trusty Lambretta GP150! My fav track has to be When You're Young!
i only got clips of glenrothes,i wanted just to enjoy the glasgow gig without fucking about with cameras, have you had a look at the new vids i put on of the band over the last few weeks. i put on 3 of them
lookin forward to seeing them inShildon!

kirkbyla,
Anyone who finds a way to get Paul Weller into the same sentence with Keith Richards is all right with me.

saw them in brighton on there last 2007 25th anniversery breakup gig,
now see they are going to do another december gig this year,
this time I am booking tickets to see them in margate,
never know they might announce some earlier gigs once they've had a bit more of a break
