We're doing this song for allstate choir auditons.... I showed my instructer this video and she loved it. Though we're only doing the first verse, we practiced this whole song.
This is the only video with this tune that I've been able to find. Thank you SO MUCH!
ohhhhhh thanks you guys so much for helping me in whatever ways you did B) i got a distinction in my grade 4 in my ABRSM exam!!!!!! thanks again!!!!!!
I have the ABRSM music exams on monday (grade 4) yups!!! But i have to get the meaning of this song so i would know exactly what i am singing about...........
@Browneyesnike Verse 1 names many different flowers which bloom in the meadows in spring. Verse 2 describes shepherds playing pipes, larks waking the ploughmen, turtle doves, rooks & jackdaws starting to nest. In both verses there is always the cuckoo's call which reminds & mocks married men they must beware the attractions of prettily dressed young girls.
@Browneyesnike Good luck with your exam. I remember first singing this song long ago when I did Grave IV. All Arne's Shakespeare songs are delightful, well worth learning and very popular with audiences too.
I love this song
I am 10 years old and have a video of me singing it in church
Please have a listen if you can
