You should check out a track called "Glass Walls of Limbo". Its an old soundscape by Type O Negative. I always envisioned a scene like this but on a much more massive scale. Like an enless sea of slaves in chains singing this hymn in unison.

The Wheel of Pain is NOT a grinding wheel for grain lol. It's sacrificial. You could say it ground down souls since one by one it's captives died and the Vanir made you push it in every waking moment in all kinds of weather. No way would they make a grinding mill so huge in the middle of nowhere or embellish it with totems and chains. It was made to be pushed and that was it. Ironically if they did try and grind anything, Conan or not, it was so big he couldn't have done it alone.
