tommy chavies looks like one of the best in this video... omfg 22 hits in 2 seconds, i dont think those 22hits would hurt, as much as one knockout punch would..
LArry tatum is not a fucking 10th degree blackbelt..how the fuck does that work?? Mr. parker was 10th, THE ONLY TENTH POSSIBLE UNLESS HE TRAINED SOMEONE TILL that lvl WHICH HE DIDNT cuz he sadly died. and larry was 7th degree when he died, how the hell can he claim to be at mr. parkers lvl. who the hell does he think he is..
Ed Parker left i think 7 or 8 7th's. he gave elvis presley (honorary?) 8th. and I think Micheal Pick was scheduled for 8th. Everybody gave rank to themselves or via assosiation. Larry tatum is one of the best. But i think Parker and him had a major falling out. Ed Parker gave himself a 10th also, so I wouldn't judge to hard. Its just stupid martial arts politics and buisynes. I respect Ed Parker jr's choice of just wearing a black belt.
no....when 5 guys are ognna beat the shit outta ya..they odn't dit ant wait for one of their buddies to fight and see if he got his ass kicked or not...
how can you? you don't know what those 5 peopel are gonna do, what if their all boxerS? what if they all pull out guns? what if they too are kenpo practitioners? There's no way to prepare to fight more than 1 person because when that happens no one's comin at you one at a time...it's gonna be 5 guys and 5 guys jumping at oyu at once...no not like the movies...best defense against more then 1 perosn...or the best defense in general= GUN
of course a high caliber gun is better than any strike, but it is VERY posible to prepare to fight multiple opponents. Its a lot harder than to fight one, but it can be done. Strategy (thought of real time) is the key.
Strategy takes time to think man...don't got time to think in a fight...just react..and even that's not enough...can't punch one guy then move on to kick the other guy like in movies...by the time you hit one guy the other dude's got you punched i nthe back of the head...or stabbe dor something
thats what you think because your not an experianced kenpoist. It is easy to strategize in a real fight. Its called technical fighting. And it can be done with multiple opponents. Its not beginers stuff, but its not imposible. You should take some kenpo, i think you'd like it.
hehe nah Kenpo ain't for me hehe..i'ma lil biased...if they don't hit bag, pads, drill, spar and roll then i ain't into it hehe...and i mean that's all they do. No kata, so hands on hip, no multiple attacker drills, ect. hehe..that's me though.
actualy a good kenpo school does that. i think american kenpo is the best striking art in existance. conbine that with gracie jujitsu, fuse them together, and you've got yourself a great fighting system
still, 22 in 2 seconds is rediculous. and if you need to hit someone that many times to be effective, then you need to consider trying something new. i know i have knockout power in one hit, anything else is superfluous.
so whats the point?!?! this is a martial art right?? lol. adn further more, although its a great vid etc, the vast majority of the strikes used would not put someone down, the ones to the body in particular. nevermind eh..
the point is he's mastered the "universal pattern" of movment, so he can do that, most martial arts don't fully understand the "universal pattern", kenpo does. and i beg to differ on the body strikes. i know they look like they dont hurt, but your just plain wrong. Look up Paul Mills on here.
i understand your doubt, actualy when i was a begining kenpoist i didn't like tatums movement, but like we say in kenpo "to feel is to beleive". its like magic, kenpoist "tighten up" movement and it looks weak, but trust me, it is VERY powerful.
If you strike 22 in 2 secs how powerful are they? *tap tap tap tap tap tap...* this video with his demonstration is kinda lame. bascially: "you go down with out a fight, you stand there while i poke you, you fall when i tap you, kick slow so i can catch it and dont react, your checks in the mail, you..." ugh!!!
Really, it can be done 22 strikes in 2 sec. You can divid 22 into hands, feets, head, tongue and dong. It came out you can do three strikes per unit in 2 sec.
He said he used to fight a bit on the street, I give some respect for that. All the other choreographed dancing was just saddening, and it does look just like tapping. You can usually see the power when someone exerts it, but you cant in this video.
I just want to know the purpose. Yes striking fast will affect your opponant but (and im not saying put it all in one punch) but you had the ability to end it in one fight then why go ON and ON and ON. Besides think of the legal crap (if ur in the USA) i mean come on! its like pushing your attacker on the floor (ok thats self-defense as far as law goes) but then you stomp he head into the concrete...(that gets you sued even for being the victum in the situation.
he shared thoughts with ed parker and trained at his studio (a lot). so i would say yes. SGM Parker and Lee were both rebals in the martial arts, and banded together. If it wasn't for Parker, Lee wouldn't be known. And if it wasn't for Lee, the martial arts wouldnt be well known.
I do pratice kenpo myself, but mine offers a much more simple way to do. It's usually a kick to the groin, knee in the face and something to take down, it doesn't take any more.
I wish demonstrations like this could be done unrehearsed. Seeing the fluidity and perfection of the moves is great and all, but it doesn't bode well for the demonstration when they have the attacker doing rehearsed moves, only to be pummeled by the "master".
Even if a Kung-Fu/kempo dude tried to kick the groin or poke the eyes of a top lv mma fighter they would still get killed. The fact is these traditionnel martial art ''experts'' would get beaten up cuz of their lack of intense training. UFC guys are professionnels like Federer is in tennis, Tiger Woods in golf, Crosby in hockey etc...
This is Kenpo Karate, whether you like it or not. No, it's not MMA, or UFC. This is Kenpo, deal with it. You don't have to like it. Stop criticizing everyhting like you're gods or something.
A fight is not a dance.Like in every kung fu movie like this one, the defender knows how and where their attacker will strike, also in what order.A real fight is chaotic and would in most cases not look very fancy. The attackers wait for their turn to attack, while they in reality would attack all at the same time,in different places making it impossible to deflekt as you cant use all 4 limbs at the same time (in the case of 4 attackers ). Watch some Gracie/brazilian jiu-jitsu, kickboxing instead
kungpow65, you clearly suffer from a brain deficiency. A UFC fighter wouldn't stand and wait to get hit 22 times or charge like a nooblet like all the people 'Larry' is training against in this video. Larry would find himself on the ground in a bloody pulp, unfortunately for him.
Man slaps are totally brutal in terms of pain and are meant to really freak people out (according to my teacher,Ive never used it in a fight). Also they project more energy as opposed to closed fist as they do not use both types of muscle at the same time, or thats what Wing Chung people would say.
whys every only showing physical attacks..i can do that so much faster than shown..andi can harvest chi..and use as weapon..meaning punchingwithout contact..ppfftt..ameatures...ppl need to see the real world and see what ppl have to offer and do! NOTHING IS IMPOSSIBLE
if you thinks the UFC/Pride is a fight, you're mistaken. REAL fights are random, confusing, and brutal you dont have video tapes of your attacker to watch. he doesnt know what you could do. Kenpo techniques are ideas and guidelines of what you could do. not "always use this for this attack" like alot of martial arts. its about the principles you use.
What VARRAXZIM says is true. The thing about that tiger and the snake doesn't make much sense at first, but it is probably part of his martial art (if he takes one) and would make a lot more sense if you saw it.
I like the way they all wait for there turn, in the multiple attack sequences, in reality they would all attack at once, 3 attackers, they each only have to be a 3rd as good as you, and more than 4 attackers even less and so on. the only chance you have against multiple attackers is to position yourself in a way you can deal with them one at a time, have practised this myself with real energy and all attacking at once, very difficult but good training.
I myself like to blend into my kenpo Paul Vunak's progressive streetfighing system(JKD),and Bill Shaw's mma system along with some wrestling & brazilian jujutsu{no gi top). The only weapons I train with are escrima sticks, the pocket stick, knives, cane, staff,& a pronged or spiked grappling finger ring.
No matter what system your from, you must have the physical & mental skills to make it work in a real fight. Some are just more scientific than others, but they have to be street practical also.
You have to also revert back to your animal instincts, fight hard-but smart, you do not want to think - just respond & be dirty, relentless, show no mercy when your life depends on it!ENTER LIKE THE SNAKE-WITHDRAW LIKE THE TIGER!
Be willing to accept your own death so that you may have a better chance to live. This was the spirit of the samurai & many other warriors from the past.
The difference from a true warrior & a gang banger is a warrior as a spirit, believe's in peace & only fights to defend himself or others. Some gang bangers think there warriors, but there not. They are all cowards & immature idiots that know nothing about what a real warrior is!
The thing I'm tired about in these videos is choregraphed bitch-slapping where students are ''knocked out'' by a couple of light hits and maybe a throw for good measure.Someone who really wants to get you in normal life needs a lot more thrashing before staying down and usually puts up a more dangerous resistance.
nice you could dish out some pain with that but don't get hyped up on this is the best MA there advantages and disadvantages to every MA including the one i am doing Bujinkan ninjutsu there is never a martial art perfect for every situation that being said it always good to go into a fight knowing a few more tricks than your enemy
I agree with you, thats why its good to borrow elements from other systems outside your mother art.American kenpo is a mixed martial art with the ultimate goal to be able to respond spontaneously in the heat of combat.
Kenpo is in my opion the most advanced ma in the world. The UFC is sport fighting with rules, kenpo was made for the street where there are no rules - anything goes!Every ma should know basic ground grappling skills, but the ground the is the last place you want to be fighting more than one opponent.Kenpo is a concept art & is forever evolving. Many Kenpo students have began adding ground grappling skills to the system. Not with mma sport events in mind, but from a street point of view.
I am a martial artist, and american kenpo is my main style. A lot of these things these guys are doing are the same things I am doing... Good video though.
a problem with kickboxing/boxing, UFC etc. They use gloves and wrist wraps. In a real street situation, if you punch like a boxer, you're likely to get your knuckles busted and your wrist broken very quickly, then you will have no weapons. Kenpo teaches the use of nearly every part of the body useful for fighting. Also, Lyoto Machida has proven that traditional karate technique will work with a record of 9-0 in MMA competition (this may be slightly out of date).
Yes I know. I wish they would take them off. Bas Rutten didn't use gloves (at least when he was in pride) and he had some of the cleanest, most interesting fights. He would actually use palm strikes and hand chops etc which are a lot safer to execute than a normal punch. People don't seem to realize that gloves make things more brutal and lethal because you can hit a lot harder without any consequence.
I love the "Who's Got the Biggest Dick" competition between dominoe88 and Kenshi1Ryan. Go to any martial arts video and you'll probably see a fight like this lol.
My take on this: It's staged obviously, but only so you can see what he's doing. Also he doesn't want to hurt any of his students, and is probably holding back, like any good instructor. Yes, you can argue it doesn't prove his skill on the streets, but can you really argue with these guys' speed?
If Kenpo is such a joke, why is this art proven many times on the streets? You say his actors hit like 3 yrs olds, well according to my view, these actors speed is the same speed u see the fighters use in UFC and Pride. Sloppy, ugly, slow kicks and punchs. Please stop hating if you dont know what your talking about. Go on the street vs a good kenpoist and maybe your jaw will remain shattered.
amen brother.. its not a matter of style vs style either. its a matter of life and death, about real attacks. if Kenpo is a joke. why do i keep hearing of Kenpoists becoming Police, COs, Bouncers, Bodyguards, Security Guards, and Military.. they wouldnt last if this stuff was bogus..
Do yourself a favor. look up a good boxing, kickboxing or MT school in your area and go there and ask to spar someone of equal skill, come back and tell me i'm wrong.
there are obviously some schools that do train right, most dont hence "MOST martial arts are a joke.". if you think your blackbelt will make you unhittable, then you're just naive. Everyone get can get hit in a fight and most likely do. Unless of course you're fighting someone who is mentally challenged. I've never seen a tradional MA style block really work, go against a person with quick hands and knows how to feint/fake, and they pretty much get owned.
"hence "MOST martial arts are a joke." you said martial arts not martial art schools, therfore your saying most martial arts are a joke. Also you make out that I think Im un-hittable, you said "How do you know how to react when someone nearly takes off your head with a hefty punch?" I said that nearly all martial arts teach you to react to such a situation, nothing about Me being invincible or anything, please unless you have anything to say apart from making stuff up, close your mouth.
I am by no means a martial artist, but i've learned a few things here and there. And yes, in most cases you will get hit in a fight, however, I have stopped fights, just by blocking, and parrying. Granted the guy was a jackass, but still it worked. When he couldn't hit me he gave up and went away. Will that work in every situation, absolutely not, but the blocks do work. Just depends on if you use them, and everything has to be second nature.
I did TKD before soon realised how bad it was and how much the belt "tests" weren't helping me at all to be better at self-defense. No disrespect to anyone, or their sytles, just hate seeing so many "mcdojo's" and fraud teachers.
hm I'd have to agree with the choreographed part, cuz I do martial arts, and I've seen black belts, and I know that is choreographed. But martial arts isn't a joke, it can be quite serious if you use it right.
hurray for choreographed fights, if his actors didn't attack with the speed and agressiveness of a 3yr old, i might be impressed. kenpo along with most other Martial arts are a joke.
Basically any art that trains with a resisting partner. Boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, judo, jujitsu and other forms of submission grappling. Any art can be good if they train the right way, most schools just teach you forms and a half-assed sparing with barely any contact.
How do you know how to react when someone nearly takes off your head with a hefty punch? if you haven't experienced anything like that before.
so if a certain judo school trains without a resisting partner, all judo schools become one of the martial arts that are just a joke?, I dont know if youve noticed but every school in any martial art trains differently, some may be similar, but just because you see one that doesnt train as efficiently doesnt mean every single other school that teaches that art is also the same.
"How do you know how to react when someone nearly takes off your head with a hefty punch?" lol...are you serious?, Im surprised you dont know this, usually all arts train you to get outve the way and do some type of block..., you obviously dont really know what your talking about, please dont make out you do.
if there is a tap dancer who can complete 21 taps in just one second, with scientific proof, why doubt this? it's just a fraction more work in twice the time.
It may look pathetic, but these guys would whoop your ass FAST. Though the punches and kicks may not be powerfull, but 22 hits in 2 secs would get you down pretty fast.
Would they Really?, 22hits in 2 secs...I didnt see that once, all I saw is him having his stoolpigeons run at him at different times and then fall over as soon as he touches them. They only SAID he can hit 22 times in 2seconds, that doesnt mean its true. Beleve little of what you hear and half of what you see Pthurst.
It amazes me the ignorance of some of these viewers, making judgements on something you know nothing about. And I just laugh in the thought of just how many seconds of one of these people getting a personal physical demonstration from Master Tatum and others to find the foot stuck in there mouth.
LOL that video is so funny, looks like teh guy is slapping them and they are getting owned just like that. The movie is sooo cool makes the guy look like a power ranger! GO GO POWER RANGER!
oh the gracies prove nothing more then they were good at what they did. gracies went to japan and got beat. heck they would throw the towl in before they got KOed because they claimed they could never be Knocked out. they were good but they never proved striking was a mythological dinosaur.
Slap-fighting. This video greatly illustrates how ineffective karate is in real-life fights. As if your opponent is really going to stand there and let you smack him to death! COMICAL! Looks great in the movies though doesn't it? God bless the Gracies for laying this mythological dinosaur out to pasture.
dunno about you but real life situation with 2 bummers is often one or 2 pucnhes then one grab his oppenents for like 5 minutes trying hitting is back like a monkey
It is not uncommmon to be temporarily stunned from a barrage of fast attacks. Kenpo is not about a one-punk KO, but more about overwhelming an opponent with speed and multiple attacks.
I know someone who sparred with Larry Tatum, and said he had amazing power in his strikes when he wanted to.
Go to school in a symbolic sense you imbecile. 38 years, well, The Old Man, Mr. Parker, didn't have that many back there with us, who is he? If he really was a Parker guy, 1st generation Parker, like myself, he will know me...go to school in a logic way. Pick a fight on the internet, how moronic would that be...
I do however find it hard to believe 16.8 a second maybe 16 for a second and a half or 2. hes gotta be very very coordinated with that left hand ^_^ hehe.
BTW given someone with a lot of experience in the Ed Parker system and have a thorough understanding of the MANY principles and concepts can generate power without "Real Mechanics" they can shift their body weight to generate power instead of moving into a right forward bow to deliver a left straight heel palm.
Beautiful! I Love the vids, and you are doin' an awesome job at showing off many great styles/concepts of the Martial Arts... this is a great way of exposing other arts to people :) Thanks again

I do enjoy watching a bunch of keyboard warriors criticizing a martial art they apparently know little about from behind the safety of a monitor.
True martial artists do not show such disrespect.
William Kwai Sun "Thunderbolt" Chow created Kenpo as a modern "hybrid" martial art based on the street fights he witnessed growing up in Hawaii.
Much like Bruce Lee, Sifu Chow was an innovator, emphasizing combat effectiveness over sport and tradition.

how can you? you don't know what those 5 peopel are gonna do, what if their all boxerS? what if they all pull out guns? what if they too are kenpo practitioners? There's no way to prepare to fight more than 1 person because when that happens no one's comin at you one at a time...it's gonna be 5 guys and 5 guys jumping at oyu at once...no not like the movies...best defense against more then 1 perosn...or the best defense in general= GUN
MMAjudoka 4 years ago
of course a high caliber gun is better than any strike, but it is VERY posible to prepare to fight multiple opponents. Its a lot harder than to fight one, but it can be done. Strategy (thought of real time) is the key.
adangonzalezelmormon 4 years ago
Strategy takes time to think man...don't got time to think in a fight...just react..and even that's not enough...can't punch one guy then move on to kick the other guy like in movies...by the time you hit one guy the other dude's got you punched i nthe back of the head...or stabbe dor something
MMAjudoka 4 years ago
thats what you think because your not an experianced kenpoist. It is easy to strategize in a real fight. Its called technical fighting. And it can be done with multiple opponents. Its not beginers stuff, but its not imposible. You should take some kenpo, i think you'd like it.
adangonzalezelmormon 4 years ago
hehe nah Kenpo ain't for me hehe..i'ma lil biased...if they don't hit bag, pads, drill, spar and roll then i ain't into it hehe...and i mean that's all they do. No kata, so hands on hip, no multiple attacker drills, ect. hehe..that's me though.
MMAjudoka 4 years ago
actualy a good kenpo school does that. i think american kenpo is the best striking art in existance. conbine that with gracie jujitsu, fuse them together, and you've got yourself a great fighting system
adangonzalezelmormon 4 years ago
haha cool..meh i'ma lil bias for my boxing, muay thai, and kickboxing haha..not american kickboxing

hold on, did i just hear right? 22 strikes in 2 seconds? impossible. at the very least, they are not strikes of substance.
blackbeltste 4 years ago
an eye rake has as much substance as an elbow to the ribs. think about it
adangonzalezelmormon 4 years ago
still, 22 in 2 seconds is rediculous. and if you need to hit someone that many times to be effective, then you need to consider trying something new. i know i have knockout power in one hit, anything else is superfluous.
blackbeltste 4 years ago
i'm sure Larry Tatum dosn't claim its efective in a tacticle sense.
adangonzalezelmormon 4 years ago
so whats the point?!?! this is a martial art right?? lol. adn further more, although its a great vid etc, the vast majority of the strikes used would not put someone down, the ones to the body in particular. nevermind eh..
blackbeltste 4 years ago
the point is he's mastered the "universal pattern" of movment, so he can do that, most martial arts don't fully understand the "universal pattern", kenpo does. and i beg to differ on the body strikes. i know they look like they dont hurt, but your just plain wrong. Look up Paul Mills on here.
adangonzalezelmormon 4 years ago
will look him up...im just speaking from experience with regards to the effectiveness of the strikes.
blackbeltste 4 years ago
i understand your doubt, actualy when i was a begining kenpoist i didn't like tatums movement, but like we say in kenpo "to feel is to beleive". its like magic, kenpoist "tighten up" movement and it looks weak, but trust me, it is VERY powerful.
adangonzalezelmormon 4 years ago
If you strike 22 in 2 secs how powerful are they? *tap tap tap tap tap tap...* this video with his demonstration is kinda lame. bascially: "you go down with out a fight, you stand there while i poke you, you fall when i tap you, kick slow so i can catch it and dont react, your checks in the mail, you..." ugh!!!
Myderion 4 years ago
Really, it can be done 22 strikes in 2 sec. You can divid 22 into hands, feets, head, tongue and dong. It came out you can do three strikes per unit in 2 sec.
unsungjo 4 years ago
ah i get it but still how powerful would they be. So what you can strike that fast the question is can you make 1 strike end it?
Myderion 4 years ago
He said he used to fight a bit on the street, I give some respect for that. All the other choreographed dancing was just saddening, and it does look just like tapping. You can usually see the power when someone exerts it, but you cant in this video.
shicack 4 years ago
See I don't want people to mistaken my curiousity for aggroganec and bashing a style. Thats not my goal.
Myderion 4 years ago
I just want to know the purpose. Yes striking fast will affect your opponant but (and im not saying put it all in one punch) but you had the ability to end it in one fight then why go ON and ON and ON. Besides think of the legal crap (if ur in the USA) i mean come on! its like pushing your attacker on the floor (ok thats self-defense as far as law goes) but then you stomp he head into the concrete...(that gets you sued even for being the victum in the situation.
Myderion 4 years ago
Do you believe Bruce Lee had a big influence on American style Kenpo?
1ToNJaB 4 years ago
he shared thoughts with ed parker and trained at his studio (a lot). so i would say yes. SGM Parker and Lee were both rebals in the martial arts, and banded together. If it wasn't for Parker, Lee wouldn't be known. And if it wasn't for Lee, the martial arts wouldnt be well known.

I prefer other styles of kenpo, there are way too many stikes in that style. We get one in the face, another to the groin, and finish him.
Fullblaster 4 years ago
u are right it is toooo many stikes
MasterSensei313 4 years ago
I do pratice kenpo myself, but mine offers a much more simple way to do. It's usually a kick to the groin, knee in the face and something to take down, it doesn't take any more.
Fullblaster 4 years ago

DangerousDan2 4 years ago
if you thinks the UFC/Pride is a fight, you're mistaken.

Budokid 4 years ago
I like the way they all wait for there turn, in the multiple attack sequences, in reality they would all attack at once, 3 attackers, they each only have to be a 3rd as good as you, and more than 4 attackers even less and so on. the only chance you have against multiple attackers is to position yourself in a way you can deal with them one at a time, have practised this myself with real energy and all attacking at once, very difficult but good training.

I agree with you, thats why its good to borrow elements from other systems outside your mother art.American kenpo is a mixed martial art with the ultimate goal to be able to respond spontaneously in the heat of combat.
VARRAXZIM 4 years ago
Kenpo is in my opion the most advanced ma in the world. The UFC is sport fighting with rules, kenpo was made for the street where there are no rules - anything goes!Every ma should know basic ground grappling skills, but the ground the is the last place you want to be fighting more than one opponent.Kenpo is a concept art & is forever evolving. Many Kenpo students have began adding ground grappling skills to the system. Not with mma sport events in mind, but from a street point of view.

a problem with kickboxing/boxing, UFC etc. They use gloves and wrist wraps. In a real street situation, if you punch like a boxer, you're likely to get your knuckles busted and your wrist broken very quickly, then you will have no weapons. Kenpo teaches the use of nearly every part of the body useful for fighting. Also, Lyoto Machida has proven that traditional karate technique will work with a record of 9-0 in MMA competition (this may be slightly out of date).
leavemealone2006 4 years ago
u do know the gloves is put on because the NASC told them to. u seen the early UFC u will know y !!
binchow 4 years ago
Yes I know. I wish they would take them off. Bas Rutten didn't use gloves (at least when he was in pride) and he had some of the cleanest, most interesting fights. He would actually use palm strikes and hand chops etc which are a lot safer to execute than a normal punch. People don't seem to realize that gloves make things more brutal and lethal because you can hit a lot harder without any consequence.
leavemealone2006 4 years ago
Smart...hehe ur a smart guy LOL. at least u know the groves is use for fighters to punch harder !! not many ppl know that. they think is SAFER LOL.
binchow 4 years ago
I love the "Who's Got the Biggest Dick" competition between dominoe88 and Kenshi1Ryan. Go to any martial arts video and you'll probably see a fight like this lol.
My take on this: It's staged obviously, but only so you can see what he's doing. Also he doesn't want to hurt any of his students, and is probably holding back, like any good instructor. Yes, you can argue it doesn't prove his skill on the streets, but can you really argue with these guys' speed?
MGP1337 4 years ago
Dude they were slapping each other!!
awsimo826 4 years ago
If Kenpo is such a joke, why is this art proven many times on the streets? You say his actors hit like 3 yrs olds, well according to my view, these actors speed is the same speed u see the fighters use in UFC and Pride. Sloppy, ugly, slow kicks and punchs. Please stop hating if you dont know what your talking about. Go on the street vs a good kenpoist and maybe your jaw will remain shattered.
Warrior011 4 years ago
amen brother.. its not a matter of style vs style either. its a matter of life and death, about real attacks. if Kenpo is a joke. why do i keep hearing of Kenpoists becoming Police, COs, Bouncers, Bodyguards, Security Guards, and Military.. they wouldnt last if this stuff was bogus..
madeku 4 years ago
Do yourself a favor. look up a good boxing, kickboxing or MT school in your area and go there and ask to spar someone of equal skill, come back and tell me i'm wrong.
dominoe88 4 years ago
there are obviously some schools that do train right, most dont hence "MOST martial arts are a joke.". if you think your blackbelt will make you unhittable, then you're just naive. Everyone get can get hit in a fight and most likely do. Unless of course you're fighting someone who is mentally challenged. I've never seen a tradional MA style block really work, go against a person with quick hands and knows how to feint/fake, and they pretty much get owned.
dominoe88 4 years ago
"hence "MOST martial arts are a joke." you said martial arts not martial art schools, therfore your saying most martial arts are a joke. Also you make out that I think Im un-hittable, you said "How do you know how to react when someone nearly takes off your head with a hefty punch?" I said that nearly all martial arts teach you to react to such a situation, nothing about Me being invincible or anything, please unless you have anything to say apart from making stuff up, close your mouth.
Kenshi1Ryan 4 years ago
I am by no means a martial artist, but i've learned a few things here and there. And yes, in most cases you will get hit in a fight, however, I have stopped fights, just by blocking, and parrying. Granted the guy was a jackass, but still it worked. When he couldn't hit me he gave up and went away. Will that work in every situation, absolutely not, but the blocks do work. Just depends on if you use them, and everything has to be second nature.

hurray for choreographed fights, if his actors didn't attack with the speed and agressiveness of a 3yr old, i might be impressed. kenpo along with most other Martial arts are a joke.

so alot of martial arts are jokes?, if there are a few which arent please do tell?
Kenshi1Ryan 4 years ago
Basically any art that trains with a resisting partner. Boxing, kickboxing, muay thai, judo, jujitsu and other forms of submission grappling. Any art can be good if they train the right way, most schools just teach you forms and a half-assed sparing with barely any contact.
How do you know how to react when someone nearly takes off your head with a hefty punch? if you haven't experienced anything like that before.
dominoe88 4 years ago
so if a certain judo school trains without a resisting partner, all judo schools become one of the martial arts that are just a joke?, I dont know if youve noticed but every school in any martial art trains differently, some may be similar, but just because you see one that doesnt train as efficiently doesnt mean every single other school that teaches that art is also the same.
Kenshi1Ryan 4 years ago
"How do you know how to react when someone nearly takes off your head with a hefty punch?" lol...are you serious?, Im surprised you dont know this, usually all arts train you to get outve the way and do some type of block..., you obviously dont really know what your talking about, please dont make out you do.
