Oh G-d I actually had this happen when I was a teenager. I got on a bus feeling really sorry for myself one day and a young woman got on a couple stops after me. She was horrifically disfigured from burns and she had lost a leg. When she got seated, she turned to to me and smiled so sweetly. She was happy! And there I was upset that my nose was too big or something equally stupid. She not only taught me, but I used the experience to teach my daughter. Such a gift.
