@azar7834 The R62s aren't going anywhere anytime soon. That R142 was on the (3) line because due to construction work, trains were only running between Crown Hts and New Lots Av and the MTA decided to put a couple of R142s on the line.

@azar7834 looks like you're in complete denial... the R62s are not going any where for AT LEAST another 20 years. R62s came out in the mid to late 80s so they're still relatively new. the cars ran on the 3 line most likely due to construction. do some research b4 u make a moron out of urself. R62s are here to stay for a long time. Get over it and quit whinning like a little girl.

@azar7834 Before u post comments do ur research the R62 and R62As are scheduled for retirement to 2026 the R62 came into service 1983-1985 on the 4 and the R62A came into service 1985-1986 on the 1,3 and 6 lines so please dont post what you dont know.

The 3 always had R62's before this, the R142's were only here due to a GO. The R62's didn't replace the R142's on the 3, they were put on the 3 for a few days for some odd reason.

lol i hate to disappoint all u R142 fans but this was just temporary. If the 1 2 3 and 7 lines were gona switch to R142 trains, that would mean they would have to retire R62s and that aint gona happen anytime soon, at least until the late 2020s. The only thing that MITE happen from what i heard is that the 7 line may switch cars with the 6 line. so the 6 mite get R62s again and the 7 mite get R142s but i highly doubt that will happen.

Your correct for the most but wrong about the 6 getting R62As.. According to an FAQ of the 2010-2014 plan on the ta site it says its ordering R188s for the 7 Line, the R62As will go to the West Side.. Ether Union Port, Lenox or 242nd will get em.. R142A stays with Westchester..

i dont think they're any plans to get R188s in the near future. if so, R188s will be used to retire R62s and R62s will not retire until 2025 or 2030. u probably mean R142s. i dont think they're gona use new cars on the 7 line cuz the 7 is good with what they have now. the only way that the 7 would get new cars is for them to switch with the 6 or another line, otherwise why keep it in service? may as well retire them, and like i said, that wont happen for a real real long time.

Wrong again.. R188 are not to replace R62/as but rather to add CBTC to the (7)! The R62As will be sent to the West Side as i said for extra service. Go to the t/a website or pm me to show you.. R142/as are going no where near the 7

If the (1) was switching form circle to diamond, and the (1) was just a line like "l" then that wasn't a (1) sry to tell you this. That was just the computer running an LED and announcement test. If it was a (1) it wouldn't be diamond and it would look like this "1" not "l".. Seen it lots of times since i live near this yd

No, it was a regular bullet, not an express bullet. It wasn't a vertical line, it was the number 1. I even saw the LED signs say "South Ferry" and "Broadway LCL". Didn't hear any announcements though. I live next to the yard also, I'm at E 180th street just about every day.
