I didn't think Schammer and Mcleod's marks were legit, they both dropped the ball. It's the main rule in afl that I dislike. The commentators say "he controlled the ball" well if he controlled it why did he drop it. Afl is the only sport where you can drop a catch/mark and it's still counted as a mark. Even if you drop it after taking a screamer and land on your head it should still be "play on". The only excuse would be if another player knocked it out of your hands.

Nah McLeods was definitely a mark, it had it long enough, what wasn't a mark was Garry Ablett's so called Mark of the Centuary, that wasn't even within a half a second of a mark.

The mark that is shown in pictures was just his left hand flicking the ball down, where it was caught under his right arm as he came down.

4 goal posts, thru the centre is a goal (6 points), thru the side posts is a behind (1 point). A mark is when the ball is caught on the full after being kicked from a distance more than 15m, resulting in a free kick. You can't make contact with another player's head with your arms. You can use your body to bump another player out of the way (shepherding). You can't run more than 10m without bouncing the ball. When tackled you must pass the ball or a free kick will be awarded for 'holding'.

A few years back Dustin Fletcher (Essendon) was hit in the mouth. He came off the ground and removed his mouthguard. With it came about 3 teeth. The medics rubbed vasaline on his gums and sent him back into the game. In 2006 Nathan Brown (Richmond) literally snapped his leg in half. (Google "Nathan Brown AFL Broken".) AFL has a "blood rule" where the umpire signals that a player is bleeding. All play stops until the injured player has left the field. AFL is definitely BADASS. GO SAINTS!!!
