The only thing I didn't like about AFV was that it was always the videos with the kids that won, even when they were considerably less funny than the runner-ups.

I always hated this show and always hated Bob Saget. It is, was, and will always be stupid. Cannot not think of a better host for this dumb ass show than he was. My kids are watching AFV on Xbox live, only because I am divorced and tend to be lenient to make it fun for them. Wow! A 70 yo woman falling down a pile of rocks! How Funny!!

There was an episode of America's Funniest in the Saget version which had Al Michaels, Dan Dierdorf, and Frank Gifford of ABC's Monday Night Football as guests. They introduced football follies. I can't find the episode anywhere.

I loved the voice narration characters back then. And you're right HE WAS BETTER. I was always surprised when seeing his stand up act. He is quite raunchy & dirty with his own humor, compared to the 'family funny' of the AFV show.

I think part of the reason why AFV has lost its touch in recent years is because you can see all the kinds of videos they show right here on youtube. Don't get me wrong, Saget MADE the show back when he was the host, and I think it would still be popular if he was still hosting it. But seriously, a lot of the clips they show nowadays are unoriginal and there's loads like them on youtube

@DarkLurker2490 Yeah I agree. That's part of it, though. They should never have removed the singer from the theme song, I think it was a signature of the show. In addition, they removed the living room set so the homey feel was gone. Calling the show AFV is a mistake imo, AFV sounds like a disease or something. Only good thing for this show and I think he's the reason for the show's longevity is Tom Bergeron, he's one of the rare true TV hosts of this era, even though he is being compared to Bob

Eh, I actually prefer Tom Bergeron. Saget's voiceovers are so obnoxious and annoying in my opinion. He actually hated doing the show and was just "going through the motions" half the time. I think that inadvertently came through in his delivery. That being said, I absolutely HATED Daisy Fuentes and John Fugelsang.

Speaking of original stuff, one thing that I like is the theme song. That was a smash hit! The second one was amazing too. The third one was nothing but a rip-off of "The Impression That I Get" by The Mighty Mighty Bosstones. That rip-off is not as good as the original AFV theme song, & it doesn't fit the show either. They ought to get rid of it & bring back the original song... the REAL song.
