  • How do you focus so well with your canon HG10?

  • @JoshuaWGLloyd Hi. The focusing has to do with the rest of the setup - the adapter and the canon dslr lens. See the images at the end and watch this video: vimeoDOTcom /3701470

  • Great vids to me!

How's over all(rod rig adapter lens camcorder) weight? i plan to buy this letus mini with a Glidecam so i wanna know if it;s too heavy for Glidecam that i plan for

What you use on a LCD View, is that to make your view straight right? how cost is it?

    thx

  • @pompeii940 You should be able to find weight info on the letus35 DOT COM site. I used a Hoodman on my LCD to better see the image on the LCD in heavy sun. The Hoodman is very cheap.

  • @RicoBergholdtHansen i already search for it in Letus dotcom but they have only adapter weight not include rod system :(

  • @pompeii940 I have sold my system now to be able to buy my EX1R. I don't remember the exact weight but I think that my version 1 at 45cm weighted somewhere around 1-2 kilos. Remember that when using a steadicam, it is hard to focus the lenses while still keeping the steadicam stable.

  • Sorry for being stupid, but is letus35 like a adapter for camcorders so you can use canon lenses with a camcorder?

  • @taneli2288 Yes, Letus35 is an adapter. Visit letus35DOTcom for more info.

  • @RicoBergholdtHansen where can i but the letus35 mini :(

  • @dishafreestyle Letus35 DOT COM

  • Hi,

very very nice work! I love this shot. I'm planing to buy the Letus35 Mini Bundle for my Sony HDR-XR500. Maybe i'll need help with the configuration. Could you please explain more about your Cokin filter (Sepialight) and the polarizer? Thank you!

  • I use the Cokin P system - more info at: CokinDOTcom /ico15-A.html

  • amazing results for a first-time test...looks like it was made with a camera far more expensive than the HG10. I just picked up an HG10 today but unfortuantely I could barely afford the $399 refurb price, let alone a $1000 letus. But with results like this, I won't rule it out as a future purchase someday.

  • yikes that vignetting is pretty bad bro, use additional condenser lens / high quality achromatic lens to control that

  • The reason for the vignetting is explained in the text on the right. This was my first ever footage with an adapter.

  • hi, nice video :) got one question for you. i want to purchase letus35 extreme and i have a canon xl2 do i need something else?like seperate objective ? thanks in advance keep up the good work

  • Good idea, But dont make the black shadows next time! this vid. must me simple and great!

  • Great

  • not bad, good try

  • good work emulating an old camera. Not only the filter but also the camera work. Usually they were not handheld so it was good work. You should shoot a mock home movie set in the 60s

  • Wow nice video

Letus35, is that adapter that costs like a few thousands dollars ? :D

I think I'm gonna stick to the homemade 35mm ;)

    great job again

  • :) This was my first footage with the Letus. I hadn't zoomed in enough and even forgot to turn on the vibration, so don't let this footage scare you :D

  • Sweet!!!

  • quick question how do you unlock the menu on the HG10 so that you can change the effects on the camcorder?

  • I think what you wanna' do is press 'Func.' and then use the round joystick to go down to 'effects'...

  • What's the actual Name of the lense because I want to order it for my Canon HG10 to do Video work too but I wanna make sure I'm getting the right Lense so if you could tell me the exact name of it that would be great man

  • This is a Canon EF 50mm f/1.8 II. The cheapest lens Canon makes actually.

But of course you need a 35mm adapter to be able to put in on your HG10 - in my case that's a Letus35 Mini.

  • what program are you using to edit this in and do your photo shots ever showed and "Card Error" with the memory card while taking pics cause mine did. What can I do about it?

  • Hi

I edit with Sony Vegas Pro 8.

I never really used the photo option, since I have a DSLR for when I want to take still images. However, a card error might suggest that you have to format the card - On a Canon HG10 that would be: "Initialize card" / "Compl. init.". This will delete your images but will also hopefully remove the "card error" failure.

  • Oh, cool! Thanks for the response! =)

Bye the way, do u know where can I get one like this?

  • There is no dealer in Japan/Asia, so you have to order it online from the USA (that's what I did too).

letus35 dott kom is their website.

Remember that shipping costs and Japanese taxes/fees might apply too.

    Hope that helps :)

  • Somebody can tell me if the Letus 35 mini is compatible with the Canon HF100?

    Thx in advance

  • It is. Just make sure to order the Letus with a 37mm thread size (I use a 43mm thread).

  • Looks awesome! I'm about to get the HG10 myself in the next few days and I can't wait. I've heard the 24p mode is really stuttery but below you said you use it. Is it stuttery for you or are the reviews blowing it out of proportion?

  • I think the issue is more AVCHD than 24p. Footage from the HV20/30 seems to look better, especially when it comes to action and panned shots - but you would have to live with the HDV tapes that need to be changed every 20 minutes. To be honest, I don't see that big a difference between 24p and 60i (25p & 50i in my case, since I'm using PAL). 24p is less contrasty, but that it. Generally, I like my HG10 very much. The harddisk makes filming very easy.

  • cool, thanks a lot.

  • Great initial shoot with the Letus!

Concerning all your videos, you seem to get a sharpness out of your HG10 that I'm not getting out of my HV30. I understand you use filters, and lenses, etc. -- but what settings on the Canon do you use? (Cine, TV, Av, etc.) Do you sharpen in post? Finally, any encoding recommendations? (your Vimeo videos are outstanding!) Thanks!

  • The HV30 should have better sharpness than my HG10 due to differences in compression (mpeg2 vs. mpeg4). I almost always shoot in TV mode / 25p (now shoot in TV mode / 50i, though). I sharpen in post - have mostly used 'sharpening' in Sony Vegas but have now changed to using only 'Unsharp mask'. I find that unsharp mask does a better job - less artefacts and much better contrast. The HG10 (and I believe the HV30 as well) has a custom setting where you can boost saturation, contrast and sharpness.

  • I have earlier had it set to boost everything, but now have it set to neutral. I use these encoding / rendering settings:

    eugenia dott gnomefiles dott org/2007/11/09/exporting-with-vegas-for-vimeo-hd/

  • My thanks for your responses! I followed your link and found the related one for Premiere Pro -- that's very helpful. Thank you! Your videos on Vimeo are truly outstanding and one of the reasons I bought the HV30 as a backup camera. You should know that I find your videos more impressive than what's coming off my Sony EX1. This is probably due to my incompetence -- but your work is truly outstanding! Again, thank you!

  • I think most of the 35mm adapter shots here on youtube are unsharp....not all. I think it is an adapter issue...not a HV30/20/HG10 issue.

  • I'm using a Hoodman h-300. And yes, It has a 2x magnifying glass in front. They make them in different sizes. It comes in 16:9 as well. I use a 4:3 - which fits my HG10 perfectly. Your HV30 should have the same lcd, I think. I just got it prior to the Letus, so this was my first reel test of it. I think it does a great job. Price is OK too. Look up hoodmanusa dott kom

  • nice...just got one myself on a hv-30 but did not get the rails..

w/c lcd screen hood is that? does it have a lens glass? it seems to be on the photo.

    tnx
