  • DORIAN YOU ARE NR.1

  • Dorian Yates, what a cool guy.

  • haha my best friend used to train with this guy when he was a cage fighter

  • 6 sets for back and i want to die

  • where's the rest of it??

  • dorian still looks like a warrier

  • Dorian always look like he's happy. He must've found happiness in his life.

  • SQUUUUEEEEEEEEZZZZZZZZEEEEEEEEE

  • Dorian Yates, a class act all the way....

  • rack it.. 20 seconds... 4 reps... rack it... he counts that as sets or is that just one set with pauses in the middle?

  • @ooUooUoo yea one set.. rest pause..

  • @ooUooUoo yeah that is called rest pause it`s part of HIT Mike Mentzer used it

  • Reminds me of the theory behind MAX-OT. Low reps/high weight for maximum muscle growth.

  • very useful information

  • such a knowledgeable guy..a true Mr Olympia

  • sounds like Dugdales talking about DC training with the 15 reps thing.

  • is this off a dvd?

  • @wowwft205 yehh "one week in the dungeon"

  • Dorian is hugely knowledgeable and also down to earth

  • Do steroids increase the risk of injury?

  • @Portilloizay I suppose, but I suppose not as a direct effect. It allows you to push harder with more weight and the tendons and muscle attachments to the bones take more time to build than your muscles do to get strong. Therefore, you are at a high risk of tears (a la John Cena removing his pec etc) and other strain injuries to the accessory structures to the muscles

  • @Portilloizay absolutely yes. your tendons and ligaments dont increase in strength and size like your muscles do when taking steriods. they can't grow as quickly. in saying that, your body is clever, it'll let u know when your pushing too hard.

  • the same lecture on roids instead of training n dorian would beat the youtube views record :)))

    r e s p e c t !

  • This is superb. Very informative. Thanks for sharing.

  • Please play the rest of this video. Its very informative actually listening to King Dorian explaining it directly to Mark.. The one on one personal training he gets with Dorian is invaluable.

  • @adreecage

They seemed to have "forgot" to mention STEROIDS.

  • @adreecage

type in Week in the Dungeon. that will give you all 8 vidoes of the documentary, amazing shit

  • Best way to gain muscle: High volume, compound exercises (Bench, squat, deadlift etc.) heavy weights, few reps (3-8), progression.

    :)

  • You really have to listen to your body when using HIT training in order to avoid over training/injury. Definitely the best method for gaining size/strength natural or not. Best used in cycles with high volume training. the majority of the year stick with HIT for two - three months then try another style for a month or two

  • i agree on the 15 reps for most people, but ronnie does or did 15 reps for most exercises and look at the size he got, there are excepetions

  • 15 reps is not what ronnie coleman was training at more like 6or 8 for the main working set. jackoff

  • Ronnie Coleman's last set was normally of low reps. I believe that much of what he was doing were not considered working sets. Look at his benching video, he goes up to 495 for 5 reps. Ronnie had a very good understanding of how to gain muscle and knew how his body worked

  • In this 3 minutes you can learn more about bodybuilding then reading arnold s encyclopedia

  • quite interesting video and i agree with you comment

  • whoah BLASTPHAMY! Crapping on the BIBLE written by the Greatest of all-time? Sheesh. Dorian is THE MAN, no question and his remarks and advice are all Golden nuggets of greatness, but please...no crapping on the BIBLE ok?

  • @Rvd420WHAT greatest of all time??? Weiders' favorite yes... most famous and wealthy as well... but the greatest ever physique??? For explanations of exercises and story I agree trainers should own it. But for actual routines to get you started, and pointers on staying consistant, Yates, Mentzer, Paris, and Steve Reeves are examples of bodybuilders who gave honest advice and weren't making people feel that they must spend 60-120 a day in the gym days a week for results

  • Who else could beat the Myth Sergio Olivia in his prime? Anyone? Aka the only man to win an Olympia without any competition because everyone knew they couldnt beat him. The only man was Arnold! If you want to talk about the evolution of drugs and suppliments and equipment you go right ahead. Arnold circa 73-74 was the epitome of perfection. Huge size, cuts and symetry in the pre-super roided era. Dispute it all you want, but Arnold is and will always be at the top of list. BIBLE bro BIBLE

  • However YES the way Dorian trains, "heavy duty" style is in my opinion the best way to train, period. HOWEVER that doesnt mean the encyclopedia of modern bodybuilding is worthless. It is in fact the bodybuilders Bible. In Fact I personally feel that EVERYONE should own it and know it through and through. Frankly ALL information from these great champions are invaluable. Its the synergy effect of all the resources available from Arnold to Zane to Dorian. But dont crap on the BIBLE

  • @Rvd420WHAT Well said... I agree on the bible. As for beating Sergio, I am a huge fan of "The Myth" and just by the base of their physiques I personally think if you put Sergios' muscles on the Blond Bombers body, he'd have won many titles. Was race an issue? I feel at the time Arnold was the only man with the mass to go against Sergio, better chest and bicep peak... Sergio owned him in every other catergory though, legs, back, tri's, shoulders...

  • @Rvd420WHAT Bodybuilding evolved alot more by the 1980s, but by that time TV and the ads sure started to go away in the Haney era, as the guys got bigger you'll have a better chance of seeing a spelling bee than an Olympia on TV. Oliva Arnold? Robby Zane? Labrada Haney? Yates Levrone? Ronnie Cutler? and so on and so on just Weider politics that will continue, If the Mr. O was a truly unrigged event their would be more than 12 champions since the mid-60's, but what can you do ya know!

  • Politics have always been part of the game. But it doesnt mean Arnold was any less great or a true champion. My opinion greatest of all time and at over 6 feet tall. What BB can match that? Frankly none. As for Olympias, lets run it down. Arnolds win in 80 was legit albeit not his best package. If you want to talk shady Olympias. 81 Franco is a joke much like Dickerson receive his "lifetime acheivement award in 82" Ronnie in '01 Def lost to Cutler. 3 gifts.

  • @Rvd420WHAT haha agree with youon 1981 and 1982... Danny Padilla, Roy Callendar, and Casey Viator, are practically unknown because they never won some bogus trophy. Everyone's entitled to their own opinions though

  • I strongly disagree that heavy duty is the best way to train. I've been training for a long long time and everyone I've ever seen using heavy duty training for any length of time got injured, burnt out, or both. You just can't push that far past failure all the time and expect to gain, especially without injury. Look at all of Yates' injuries. Some heavy duty principles are sound, but they should be applied to a more conventional routine of higher volume.

  • Well brother, you may disagree. But you are incorrect. Truly there is no one way to skin a cat, but, HIT training when done properly is the BEST way to gain size and density. Of course it takes it out of you. Breaks are always a part of bodybuilding. And so it training to and beyond failure, THAT is bodybuilding. And as far as injuries,Dorian was freak and taking crazy HGH stacks. That type of insanity can and for him did lead to injuries. One must use caution and be proper, but it is the best!

  • ...

  • I've been doing HIT for 15 years and I haven't burned out or got injured.

As a matter of fact I got hurt from doing HVT. I severely tore my achilles tendon, injured my lower back and injured my left shoulder. Too many sets, repetitive work, little rest all led to my injuries.

  • I guess it depends on just how far you take it. High intensity is of course very effective. But by heavy duty, I'm referring to 1 all out set to failure, then forced reps, then maybe even some negatives. If by high intensity, you mean to simply go to failure, I would agree with you. But if you're talking about the all-out assault, that will definitely lead to burnout.

  • Yes, I agree with you. I don't do force reps myself.

  • lol you for real?

  • @Martinl792002 Arnolds Encylopedia was rubbish. I wish I hadn't wasted my money on it.

  • @darkknight17 haha we all make mistakes sometimes. I know i did myself!!! Funny how the books on Yates, Doggcrapp, Max OT, are few and far between but hey 40 sets a body part has to work if Arnold says so. Why so many people are out of shape

  • @Martinl792002

The ratings for the book 'Arnold Scharzenegger Encylopedia' were really good on Amazon so i thought hey it must be good..

My arms are lagging so I went straight to the chapter with his arms.

When I read the VOLUME of his training it put me off straight away. I only read ONE chapter I didn't even want to finish the rest of it.

    Damn.. What a waste.. :(

  • @darkknight17 your lucky i did this routine religiously my first 2 months I started training again, you read the reviews and all the arnold fans with 12 inch arms that think they are getting great results. Luckily it was after this time i read up on other bodybuilders finding yates and shawn rays website. Yates changed my perspective Shawn, though a volume trainer training each body part every 5 days was better than every other.

  • @Martinl792002

I've never ever seen a video of Arnold training one body part from from start to finish. Makes me wonder if his routines from FLEX magazine and his Arnold Encyclopedia are fake.. I simple cannot imagine a 20 set bicep workout twice a week being good for growth.

I think those silly over training style workouts were designed to throw off the competition. Any bodybuilder in that time with the steroids they had then would surely not have been able to cope with so much volume.

  • @darkknight17 martini, keep in minde that arnold was writing during the 80's when bodybuilding was trying to be hip so he was combining the popularity or aerobics with bodybuilding. Plus, steroids were legal back then. You could go to your local walgreens and pick up some steroids back in the 80's.

  • @blackshogun77

I think you misread the conversation friend. I am saying with the out dated steroids they had back then, compared to the HGH, Insulin and new Steroid compounds we have today I don't see ANY PRO'S doing 20 sets for biceps. Even Ronnie Coleman only did 9 sets for biceps and he was a walking Chemistry experiment!

  • ...

  • @Martinl792002 you're right mate, such a huge amount of knowledge

  • @Martinl792002 lol unless arnold made an encylopedia for only bodybuilding pretty sure you can learn more anywhere.

  • @aznxwarlock high intensity is the only way my friend

  • @Martinl792002 u don`t have an idea how right u are ;]
