This type of technique was just too expensive, of course "manual labor" comes to mind when you explain this. Lassender just wasn't supported by many because pieces like this with such early effects like this scares people into think "OH NOES COMPUTERS WILL TAKE OVER MY JOB!".
If you seen west world there early 3d effects in it, just one scene of course with a 3d hand rotating on a computer screen.
this is pretty damn amazing for the time when you think of it. funny that they tried to shade the characters to make them fit the background instead of just not shading the background like its done nowadays.
way to funny and mazing how far animation and movie making has come in such a sort period!

@000DW0 No. Putting CG in an animated film would be hardly more than the regular budget of an all-traditionally animated movie!
