@jamaica1dreams My eyes, too, m8.. And I am not even a Native American.
This was MOTOWN's greatest moment...and they slept on it. The 'Plight' LP got considerable attention...just not in the Mother Country.
Tip o' the fedora to XIT leader Tom Bee and MOTOWN staff producers/writers & engineers The Brothers Terrana, Ralph & Russ and The Much Regretted Mike Valvano.
The 'sophisticated' people of this world are always disparaging the aboriginal peoples. We, the aboriginal people used to keep the world in balance. Now look around at what is happening. Excessive floods, heat waves, hurricanes, tornadoes. Go ahead and say that your beliefs are better than what the aboriginal people believed. This world was doomed from the beginning but that doom was brought about sooner by your greater greed.
Thank you all! As soon as I get my comp up and e-net back then I'll post more videos. As for right now I just have my phone soooooooooooo, it sucks lol thank you all once again!!
What about a video for Beginning? I have ALWAYS started and ended my Native radio show with Beginning and End? I was also lucky enough to see XIT when they played AIM's concert for justice 12/26/1973 in Atlanta
This is one of my favorites buy you must have edited the best part out of the song. I love the original! I was one of the UC Berkeley Indian students that helped take Alcatraz in 1969. Now you know why I like the original.
We are the true Americans like it or not! I traveled and resided in a lot of other states like Oklahoma, Texas, Kansas, New Mexico, South Dakota, Montana, Idaho, Wyoming, Oregon, Washington State, Callie, and also into Canada; to name a few I truly love people that embraced me like I was one of their family member, I love people that's why I explored other states to learn their culture and a little of their language I'm a true Dine (Navajo) Nation...Phx AZ-----M. Little
Thank you all for the comments. And for those of you that have sent friend request... I don't know how to work this damn iPhone and it's my only enet access right now. As soon as I figure this out or get my comp working I'll check everything out.
Music - Mike Valvano Pity, it isn't easy to find this native group, here , in Italia. I bought "Plight album" many years ago. Eccezionale (I have also same "XIT")
wow you know how to write your language. I'm dine and don't know how to write Navajo. I do my best to pronounce it and it all works out. Keep it up..@FAUSTORICCARDO
I have been listening to XIT'S music for many years living up here in Maine and have and still do Love to listen to it all the time. They have an Awesome sound that will be Dearly missed by me. I'm glad I have the albums that I do. Thank You for all You've done for me and those who have listened with me. May the Great Spirit Watch over you always and forever for bringing this to us. Your sound has just been incredible!
Great to hear this song. I was a teenager (in Holland) My brother sold all his vinyl albums when the CD was introduced. I managed to buy the cd some years ago from amazon, I think. I like "beginning" better than "end"'". Could anyone upload that as well, with a lovely slideshow as well.
We Pray to your God and ours to show you missionaries no mercy. May Allah not forgive them, who '"own" stolen Native Indigenous property, all over the world, especially active sedition in the usa, meso and south america, Africa, and australia. Sedition: taking over another's nation.
"Plight Of The Red Man" (1972) was, believe it or not, originally a Motown LP.On the Rare Earth imprint. And Tom Bee,XIT leader & main songwriter, wrote for &/or played sessions with Smokey Robinson,The Jackson 5ive (with Michael Jackson),Mike Campbell,& Diana Ross, amongst others..
And *all* XIT music,IMHO, was/is more soiciopolitically relevant than that OTHER Native American group, Redbone (I *hate* "Come and Get Your Love")
This song is awesome. I believe in my native constitutional rights and nobody is going to take those rights away. I have 2 close brothers that are serving time in prison here in Arizona. Native brothers are incarcerated in all different states to this day fighting for justice! The song says it all especially for those that are wrongfully incarcerated !!! My your god forgive you and JUSTICE FOR ALL......
Listen to XIT is powerful, if u believe in da mistreatment of natives in north american continent. love this song it brings me to a point of no return about indian rights, THANK-U Dennis Banks 4 endless work of marches, speeches & stand'n up 4 indian rights. if u read this THX BROTHER u live in me 4 ever...
Yup, I remember crawling over a fence in Shiprock New Mexico to watch XIT. At the time, we were marching in the streets of Farmington New Mexico. There was so much racism and discrimination there. We had to fight to get our rights to be a human being. Those were the days and today I'm still fighting for mother earth and the red people. Native Youth Movement rise up brothers and sisters.
they played at UW's stadium April 1973 at one of the first gatherings of northwest Indian youth conference. I watched it in a total state of enthusiasm and excitement.
Bloody awesome so good to see this on Youtube...I'm in New Zealand and I havent heard XIT for years, I used to have the album...love it love it...Peace and Love to the American Indians from NZ Maori..xoxo
I just wanted to let everyone know that, Tom Bee, is a very successful producer and own a recording company named, "Sound of America Records". All of the original XIT albums are available through his company along with much much more incredible Native recordings. Check it out!
You did a great job on this. May your work be blessed to pierce the darkness that keeps people from seeing the true values that the First Americans have that can help us all to the REAL changes that are needed in this country.
My dad listens to this all the time yet. It makes a lot of sense today as it must have in the 70's and 80's. We come from the big Bear and Poundmaker lineage. Imsees is my dad's hero, as he stood his ground with the government. Yes there were too many to fight but at least, as my dad says, he had the jam to take a stand. My grandpas were courageous and am proud of where I come from.
HI, I l really like this band and I know it is hard to get there music in Canada and maybe banned because of the content. Can you make more videos with their music, I really treasure their songs. thanks.
By fighting among ourselves, we become weak We are all struggling for the same FREEDOM. We need to lay the groundwork NOW. For all the Generations to come. We can not let our Heritage ways die out. We all need each other. We are like fingers on a hand. EACH finger represents a different tribe. We are all strong individual tribes. But if we all pull together we become POWERFUL!!
Canadians should be ashamed of themselves...OKA,Big Hole Tract, 100 Mile House, Burnt Church still the same. Where has CANADA paid their tribute. Stephen Harper part of the REFORM PARTY which all aborignals know is RASCIST is in power. ALL CANADIANS VOTED his party in.Are all CANADIANS RASCIST. the answer is YES.

all the words - true.
I only hope that the past atrocitys of my white people can somehow be forgiven enough for us to meet now - 2 people, working for a better life
