to be honest, the 80's was full of bands like Def Leppard, cheesy sounding lyrics and guitar solos. But you know what? Def L eppard was easily the best of these bands, without doubt, they were light years ahead of everyone else in this genre...this is just great stuff to sing and dance to...
The "low vocals" are Rick Savage. As far as bitching about Joe "not hitting all of the high notes," why don't you upload YOUR doing it? Let us all hear and see how much better YOU can do. Maybe you should have bought a ticket and bothered to go and see them a time or two or more. The last time that I saw them was on their "Adrenalize" Tour - in the 90s - and guess what? Joe HIT the high notes. In 1988, they didn't have all of the technological "HELP" that the likes of Lady Gaga have today.
@covenstead Wait, are you replying to me? Because If you are...I didn't say that at all...but I agree, of course maybe he can't hit the high notes as much as he did, but hey, Joe gets older....that's perfectly normal. He's been singing for 30 years! He's a 50 year old man, and can still sing, bot many can accomplish that... So I agree...
personally i think the low toned bass is better than the cover albums, it makes the song sound heavier, plus the way the guitars are played, the whole 9 yards
@Nic0las11x12 Steve sang from time too time , he was shy because of his notable accent but you can hear his voice very good on wasted ( dortmund 1983 and the sudio version) he also does vocals on gods of war
@iplaybass00 Its not that hard , you just need too make shure your guitar sounds good so you can make his gainy chords sound as good as his , and the solo he does is pretty hard at first
@fameasser35 yea, i bet, idk i thought i always suspected it was sav, but wasn't sure, i just thought so bcuz he has such a low voice, and i couldn't see him singing the low vocals lol, but yea thanx, how did u figure that out by the way?
@iplaybass00 First of all they (backing voc.) simply sound too consistant in pitch and delivery for such a highly dynamic stage environment. Why screw around with all the variables i.e. sore throats, human error, doubling work loads, possible off nights etc. when this very important key element of the DL sound can be a sure thing- failsafe every night? In all fairness I'll admit it's conceivible that the backing vocals are truly live - but all things considered, I'll bet they're not. Peace
@iplaybass00 One more thing. This is an official, authorized video clip in which I am certain they are putting their best foot forward, authenticity and honesty be damned, understandably. A bootleg audio of this tune might be more enlightening for the current debate, true? Sure regret missing the Pyromania tour - big time, sigh.
Too bad Joe can't hit the high notes anymore (like on the studio version) and the bass sounded a little bit to low compared to the record but I still prefer this version.
@MrDunkJunk It's actually natural for men's AND women's voices to deepen some once they're past their mid-40's, making it physically harder to hit the high notes as they did in younger years. The only person I've ever heard flat-out nail the high notes now as in days past is Micky Thomas from Jefferson Starship. The guy is around 60 now and sounds as good as he did in the 70's and 80's. Bring him up from a 9/6/09 concert on here and listen. The guy's unreal!
@apollotakacs Yes, it's fantastic, 10 times better than the studio version, but did you hear the unmixed soundboard version of Photograph? I also have it mixed with the video, so you can listen and watch it if you wish so. :)
so sad we lost Steve Clark so young. He was absolutely amazing......

The backgrounds on the record also had "Mutt" Lange the producer. They sound just like the bgv's on Bryan Adams and Shania Twain's music.

I love DL just as much as the next guy but those backing vocals are canned, i.e. prerecorded. Like lots of other
bands, common practice these days.
432b86ed 10 months ago
@432b86ed idk, i disagree, they don't really sound canned, nonetheless look, they say there vocals are real, but maybe not, wut makes u think so?
