Oh man... Shame on this guy... What the hell is he doin??? He hasnt got a simple Idea of detailing. I´m a detailer too, but this guy... woohaa.. hope he dont take money for that crap
This guy doesn't know what hes doing ...... the pad is supposed to be flat on surfaces at all times.. thats why detailers like him burn through the paint and not letting the polish to cut the clearcoat evenly
Face palm! Wholly crap! Wrong machine, wrong speed, wrong pad, wrong technique. Best bring yourself into the twentieth century.......trikes@live.com.au
man you dont know what your doing, you dont wipe the polish into the car with the pad, you sling shot the shit everywhere, and you tilt your pad like someone who doesnt know how to buff, why dont you go back to networking computers or some software design and leave the hand tools to the men
@JamesDS95 the little measures of safety can prevent riots from happening. practicing safety on little things will come in handy when it comes to larger things, such as police confrontations. Why are British so careless? Riots.
@coastvl why would you take all that time to mask off the windows when it takes about one eighth the time to just wipe off the windows. Clearly you need these videos
You skipped the machine polish, and used too soft of a pad. I know, because I made this mistake too, then I learned. After compounding, I use a black 3m waffle pad with 3m machine polish. Its simple to follow the Perfectit guidelines.
so are we going to get to see a video where we can actually see the "scratches and swirls" :-/ why not just rename the video 'Watch me use a machine polisher'
my orbital polisher comes with 1 applicator bonnet and 1 polishing bonnet, so for example if I want to polish, do I put the polishing bonnet and polish or do I have to use the application bonnet to apply the polish product and THEN polish. If you can help me, I thank you so much!
Nice splatter there, chief. A logical person would start the polisher on a slow speed to avoid the disaster you just created. But, it's a technique...(head shakes)
I was expecting to see the scratches in the surface prior and after the polishing. You didn't tape the half and zoom in to see the difference, also, question, how do you know when to stop buffing?
if you use a medium compound to remove scratcsh and swwirls, do you then have to go over with a light compound or finishing polish. or wil lthem edium of done its job of removing the shit and brining back the shine
there should be no "splatter" if he is doing it propperly. less is more, prime your pad, a small amount on polish, smear over the paintwork upto 2 x 2 area, and always start your rotary or DA while its in contact with the painwork, most have soft start so there should be no issues.
I've watched this multiple times, and ive finally realized that he uses the 3m product and pad combo.
typical paint and body shop supplies but their ultra fine machine polish and blue finesse pad that he uses is phenomenal. I have used it before with very low hologramming.

Mark, I usually work my buffer at lowest speed and move toward my left slighty angled picking up the bead....this helps prevent polish from slinging in all directions.

Can anyone tell me if you can polish a car with a orbital buffer? If so what kind of bonnet should I use for the application and removal of the polish?
You can use any kind of buffer that rotates and will allow for attachments such as lambswool or other buffing pads. I have a 59 dollar porter cable that works great. These guys try to sell you on expensive machines you don't need.
Now, I'm not an expert when it comes to detailing. I'm actually just now learning how to do it the right way. And one thing I do know is you never apply the polish or wax on the surface you're going to be working on. Apply it on the pad.
f your paint is good, never go for abrasive compound but if thats all u got or a semiabrasive compound u can just use a light compounding foam pad instead of a wool pad which is for more abrasive jobs!
Does anyone know how to remove waterspots on a hood, theyve been on for several months, they DONT seem to budge with regular washing, including heavy scrubbing! errrrr! any Advice is appriciated!
@teaser2233 ok thanks for the info, I will try to find those brands of olish, I did pick up a PC, and it seems so easy to use, it came with Mequairs "Ultimate" Polish, which has removed most water stains.
@39Nordic, it depends on where you reside. Assuming u are in USA, 3M Ultrafina US version (6068) is OK but the European 50383 is best. You might have to get it imported.
i think Menzerna should be available there. Just try any online store u'll get it.
Lastly start with medium pressure on ur porter cable and later apply very light pressure to get the finish. normally it takes 4-6 minutes per square area where u are working. do 2-3 passes with medium pressure and 3-5 of light to very light.
why do you all make this process soundso complcated. Ive been painting cars for 30 years and use 1500 wet and dry followed by g3 compound with a soft foam head on my machine and get a finnish like clear glass everytime. Finish off by going over with 3m handglaze on a soft cloth to remove swirl marks and the finnish would look at home on any Ferrari,Merc, etc. Its not rocket science.
so you compound with a finishing pad and then follow up removing holograms or micro marring with a glaze? Yeah sounds like you know what you're talking about...
Your such and idiot and people like you give other bad names. You don't go 1500 sanding to compound to glaze. I don't care how long you have been doing things, in this time era, you are WAY wrong. Sorry charlie.
@jonkheero1 If you did that in my shop I'd fire your butt. Those swirls would not be gone. You're green behind the ears son. At least you got some thumbs up! Heres a middle finger.
With your method (G3 + 3M), you're creating swirls with the G3 and you cant see these swirls due to indoor lighting you use and also because G3 is oily and covers up swirls very well. You continue to hide these swirls with 3Mglaze.
After a few washes......my god!!!!!!
Why don't you wipe the buffed hood repeatedly with undiluted alcohol and inspect under strong white lights? You'll see the horrendous swirls you've created.
@jonkheero1 I used to do it that way too but the higher sand paper the better the shine I at least go 2000 now or even 3000 but like you said old school still works
@jonkheero1 so would it be recommended to use one of these to wax my car? i HATE waxing i always use a towl and elbow grease to take the wax off and it kills me when i am done. would it be easier to use a buffer like this?
@jonkheero1 thats the difference between bodyshop 'mopping' and detailing paint correction. The main difference is detailers try to correct the paint whilst removing the least amount of paint possible and achieve much higher quality finishes. I say this as I am a full time detailer and going by what I have seen my good friend do over the years at his bodyshop painting ferraris, astons, lambos etc and uses a similar process to you. Just my 2 pence..!
@jonkheero1 also there are thread upon thread of cars being sent to detailers after they have been to the bodyshop to undo the damage they have done, usually a combo of compounding followed by glaze which just fills and hides all swirl marks which just come back later and leave the paint in a terrible state. Take a look on detailing world for much more in depth threads about this!
wtf? That looks like shit!

hey where did u buy that at...i wanna buy one from a store not online
haji9891 1 year ago
Try Menards. That's where I got mine.
Marksnotebook 1 year ago
no u put it on car, then rub it in with the buffer off. which is what he did. putting it straight on the pad would not give thorough coverage
liveloud666 2 years ago
Now, I'm not an expert when it comes to detailing. I'm actually just now learning how to do it the right way. And one thing I do know is you never apply the polish or wax on the surface you're going to be working on. Apply it on the pad.
dodge69874 2 years ago
thats true allways on the pad .
devagazi 2 years ago
f your paint is good, never go for abrasive compound but if thats all u got or a semiabrasive compound u can just use a light compounding foam pad instead of a wool pad which is for more abrasive jobs!

clay bar does not get water spot's off.
kingwily 2 years ago
Does anyone know how to remove waterspots on a hood, theyve been on for several months, they DONT seem to budge with regular washing, including heavy scrubbing! errrrr! any Advice is appriciated!
39Nordic 2 years ago
Use a clay bar, or a diluted vineger solution.
johnmgd 2 years ago
@39Nordic wet sand wit 2000 grit
Fastbullit17 2 years ago
@Fastbullit17 Ok thanks for the suggestion, from what I am seeing , I will also have to invest in polisher to remove damage from sanding.
Yes I did do the claybar, it helped, but DID not remove all water spots.
Vstar4me 2 years ago
Hey don't sand it. if your paint is good, never go for abrasive compound. You just need to apply a very light polish.
The best in market are you either go for Menzerna PO85RD or try 3M Ultrafina SE 50383
I bet you will get the best gloss you ever have imagined.
teaser2233 2 years ago
@teaser2233 ok thanks for the info, I will try to find those brands of olish, I did pick up a PC, and it seems so easy to use, it came with Mequairs "Ultimate" Polish, which has removed most water stains.
Vstar4me 2 years ago
@teaser2233 ok thanks for the 411, i do now at least have a porter cable, w/ pads, so where can i buy those polishes you mention??
39Nordic 2 years ago
@39Nordic, it depends on where you reside. Assuming u are in USA, 3M Ultrafina US version (6068) is OK but the European 50383 is best. You might have to get it imported.
i think Menzerna should be available there. Just try any online store u'll get it.
Lastly start with medium pressure on ur porter cable and later apply very light pressure to get the finish. normally it takes 4-6 minutes per square area where u are working. do 2-3 passes with medium pressure and 3-5 of light to very light.

amigosdetornado 2 years ago
why do you all make this process soundso complcated. Its not rocket science.
jonkheero1 2 years ago 6
@jonkheero1 maby you can do a vid ur self ... like a how to!
Hazereyes2 2 years ago
so the 3M handglaze applied by hand is enough for me to remove any swirling left by the buffer?
imadrunkenfooL14 2 years ago
@jonkheero1
so you compound with a finishing pad and then follow up removing holograms or micro marring with a glaze? Yeah sounds like you know what you're talking about...
JackTheMetalHead 1 year ago
@jonkheero1
Your such and idiot and people like you give other bad names. You don't go 1500 sanding to compound to glaze. I don't care how long you have been doing things, in this time era, you are WAY wrong. Sorry charlie.

@StupidPeoplePolice lol well said
ozonegaz 1 year ago
@jonkheero1 If you did that in my shop I'd fire your butt. Those swirls would not be gone. You're green behind the ears son. At least you got some thumbs up! Heres a middle finger.
StupidPeoplePolice 1 year ago
@jonkheero1
LOL....you're a sprayer. That's THE problem.
You'll see the horrendous swirls you've created.
zizzy60 1 year ago
@jonkheero1 I used to do it that way too but the higher sand paper the better the shine I at least go 2000 now or even 3000 but like you said old school still works

@jonkheero1 so would it be recommended to use one of these to wax my car? i HATE waxing i always use a towl and elbow grease to take the wax off and it kills me when i am done. would it be easier to use a buffer like this?
ed0985587 1 year ago
@jonkheero1 y don;t u make a video about how to do it properly then grandad.
nerdflanders8710 1 year ago
@jonkheero1 thats the difference between bodyshop 'mopping' and detailing paint correction. The main difference is detailers try to correct the paint whilst removing the least amount of paint possible and achieve much higher quality finishes. I say this as I am a full time detailer and going by what I have seen my good friend do over the years at his bodyshop painting ferraris, astons, lambos etc and uses a similar process to you. Just my 2 pence..!
tputtick 1 year ago
@jonkheero1 also there are thread upon thread of cars being sent to detailers after they have been to the bodyshop to undo the damage they have done, usually a combo of compounding followed by glaze which just fills and hides all swirl marks which just come back later and leave the paint in a terrible state. Take a look on detailing world for much more in depth threads about this!
