so none of you like modern art. Well, none of you have the knowledge to understand it. That would be a more articulate way of saying it. Despite this, you go onto a video of an artist you don't like, and then comment on it. Terrific use of your time. Right, well I'm going to go eat some strong cheese I don't like then complain I don't like it now, goodbye.
the tedium of these men taking themselves so seriously and trying to convince us to do the same. What a pile of crap he exhibited a blank sheet of paper and now wants to tell us how important it / he is. These men talked themselves up - the whole cannon of art history is filled with the men who tell usy how good they and their friends are.
Sit me up on top of a ladder guys, hey I know let's do it front of some quasi-religious arched window, and i'll like errrrrr... pretend that i'm having difficulty talking.
everyone please check out the video of my Oil painting. It took me 5 months to finish and its 4 feet by 6 feet. let me know what you think of the piece. the video is called - Monumental Oil painting- from start to finish
God damn. It's impossible for me to like this guy anymore after watching this. What a fucking clown. No wonder we all thought he was god when we were freshmen in college. lol..
I thought this was great. I guess it depends on you tastes and so forth. Greatly informatitive though, especially in terms how his work fits into a historical context. I suppose it would be passé now, but it was hugely original at the time. His mixed media work has been imitated to death.
Shame now money goes to the star artists, sponsored by corporations, and the rest (maybe doing better work) are left to fry. I guess as RR got older he couldn't be expected to be a spokes person for the younger generation but the conditions that allowed him to work have probably been destroyed. Cheap studio rents, a community. Maybe we won't get good art because that's gone.
Sometimes I watch things like this and I'm totally engrossed..buying into it completely. At other times I just feel like saying "what a load of bollocks". I suppose both points of view are legitimate.
Great to meet and eat dinner with Bob ib Toronto,Canada...at the Liberty Grand Ballroom ,put on by American Express a few years ago..Bob was so lovely, anddI sat beside a fellow student of his from Black Mountain College,,she told us they had to put out the daily trash, clean up after the meals etc. Thank-you for this love!

There's nothing like this movie to make you lose respect for mid- to late- 20th C. artists.
mcammer 2 years ago
what do you mean? what about it made you lose respect?
billheartyface 1 year ago
He and the other artists are inarticulate and not informative.
mcammer 1 year ago
@mcammer yeah i have this video and I can't stand listening to these people. All I keep hearing is brain farts.

Wow, this is a real artist, totally involved in his work to the point where the average person really has no idea where the hell he is coming from.
Interesting also that he lived to 82 years when so many of these artists died very young.

I like the word "bollocks" because it means "a device for regulating the flow of liquid".
