Pinot Grigio is not a grape. Pinot Grigio is wine made from Pinot Gris grapes, with very little skin contact... if none at all. Pinot Gris is a mutant of Pinot Noir. Pinot Blanc is a mutant of Pino Gris. Pinot Gris can mutate back into Pinot Noir.

P.S. Little known fact, Chardonnay is the offspring of Pinot Noir, and the lesser known Gouais Blanc.
