  • When was the last time ANYONE showed "Willard" OR "Ben" ??

    Thanks for the post.

  • some of the same old issues linger... huh? By the way, This is classic WLS, i envy you.

  • Maybe this should come on when Oprah is off the air.

  • That bumper music for The 4:30 Movie is none other than "Skippin'" by Ramsey Lewis from his 1977 album "Tequila Mockingbird".

  • One out of four NYers own a gun in 1981?

  • How do we deal with old age? Guns!

  • On the west coast it was the 3:30 afternoon movie, that is where I first saw Planet of the Apes and also that fake Wonder Woman movie with Cathy Lee Crosby.

  • Ha!

I remember that music in the background. Oh the memories!

    Thanks for posting.

  • Can you post the full open of the final 4:30 movie open? And since KGO went until 1986 with their 3:30 or 3:00 movie, I wonder if they used this open too. And it would've been great if WJLA here in DC adapted the ABC O & O image campaign earlier on in the 70's, let alone for their 4 O' Clock movie. Even WPVI in my hometown Philly could've used this movie open for at least THE BIG SHOW on late Sunday afternoons. The words would've fit perfectly.

  • Also, I thought the V/O on the "Eyewitness News" promo sounded a tad like WABC 77 DJ (now one of their announcers) Johnny Donovan.

  • I would surmise it IS :)

  • Feb 9, 1981. Also, the titles used at this time were based off ABC's own "Sunday Night Movie" titles before the famous "star-studded' backgrounds made their debut in 1982.

  • The final "4:30 Movie" theme music (also used by WLS-TV in Chicago for their "3:00 Movie" from 1980 until its 1984 cancellation) was a revamped re-editing of "Skippin' " by Ramsey Lewis, from his 1977 LP "Tequila Mockingbird." I thought I heard another section of the same song used as the theme for another movie series on another NYC station in the early to mid-'80's. Can anyone remember which one, and on what channel?
