The "Chinese Taipei" is not real Taiwan's name.

Many Taiwanese don't like the "CT" since China coerced Taiwan into using the name.

I sincerely hope the term "Chinese Taipei" would never be used again. This is a made up term by a bunch of chinese chauvinistic extremist trying their best to do away with our beautiful name of "Taiwan".

Taiwan is an independent country, we hold the same beliefs of freedom and democracy as the USA. Chinese Taipei if you check on the map is not even there. Every atlas in the world (Except the ones printed in the PRC) lists Taiwan as Taiwan, not Chinese Taipei. I humbly ask that you change the information box, from Chinese Taipei to Taiwan.

You do indeed make an excellent point, kliu0, regarding the sensitivity of the name of this nation. The Republic of China is also a preferred name by many. However, the reality of the political tensions between the 2 governments claiming the sovereignty of China leads us to a situation in which the name used for the host nation for the 2009 World Games is a matter of debate & dissatisfaction. The owner of this account uses the same name as chosen by the International World Games Association.
