PAF mission will have to transition from counter insurgency to territorial defense. The politicians will have to learn to stop wasting government money for their reelections and buy fighter planes like the F-16's and better radar systems that can detect China's J-20. Another way to afford a better military is to stop making babies it can not afford to feed. I know that it is hard for poor people to buy contraception pills. Former US Coast Guard cutter is not enough to defend RP waters.
guys...i know some of u do not know..u thought we had no fighter jets...we still have...2 upgraded F-5s and 6 to 8 F-5s...as the wikipedia says...but in the other part of the wikipedia says "2 F-5s remained in flyable condition" they are used in case of national emergency such as difficult wars or invasions;....they will not fly during practices..

A Philippine Air Force (PAF) pilot was killed in a plane crash in Bagac, Bataan yesterday while another is still missing, according to ABS-CBN News, citing a newsreport on Bandila.
Two pilots were flying one of the PAF's S-211 jet trainer plane when it crashed at 3 p.m. in Bagac.
I remember watching a documentary about airobatics/air shows (back in the early 90's), where Philippine air force air show team (not sure of the official name, can't remember...) was praised for their skills, because they were using unmodified aircrafts in their performance, unlike other teams where their planes are modified for such performance.

i was just wondering what happened to our f-5 jets? we used to have lots of those back in the early days. the problem is not about being outdated when it comes to military armaments one problem is hindi tyo marunong mag ingat sa mga kagamitan nten. those f-5 jets even if they're old they can still fly supersonic and reach the speed of upto mach 2 or twice the speed of sound.. hindi lang nabigyan ng importansya wala kc magmemantain that i think is one of the problems.

To dismiss an Enlisted it only requires the signature of the Commanding Officer. To dismiss the Officer it requires the signature of the President. The PNP has their NAPOLCOM, the government employee has their Civil Service Commission. What about the rank and file of AFP what agency protects them?
S211 Jets is a very very old fighting jets of the Americans way back the Korean wars, the Americans had also used that plane during the early assault in Vietnam. Nowadays the S211 is a trainer Jets for Airforce College students in United States. HOW POOR THE PHILIPPINES IS USING IT AS ITS MAIN BATTLE FLEET IN MINDANAO! Damn Corruption, Damn AFP modernization.
S211.. came out in 1980s. you are completely wrong about S.211 but your point of intention is correct.
Korean war fighters are P-51, F-51, F-86, MiG-15.. and some La-5 or other piston Russian fighters from N.Korea. S.Korea used F-51 Mustang.. and a few F-86.. while the USAF mostly used F-86
actually the College Students in US.. are training with F-16A or F-16 Vista.. as of 2001 F-5s were out of training services..
S-211 is quite capable trainer and attacker.. but junk fighter

Jet Fighters have this TBO(time before overhaul) and that means new parts or a whole new engine. the airframe has a maximum time before it starts to get cracks and we're gonna need awhole new plane again. These things wear out as fast as you train in them. There's fuel too. The whole country needs to make money so we can buy new toys for the air force.

@nemesiocarigaba :) sir s211's were the ones used in bombing the basilan abbu sayaff base,they may be used at trainer jets but they are also used by the PAF at our fighter's :) correct me if i'm wrong that is based from my knowledge about our Military Tech. :))

I remember watching a documentary about airobatics/air shows (back in the early 90's), where Philippine air force air show team (not sure of the official name, can't remember...) was praised for their skills, because they were using unmodified aircrafts in their performance, unlike other teams where their planes are modified for such performance.

i was just wondering what happened to our f-5 jets? we used to have lots of those back in the early days. the problem is not about being outdated when it comes to military armaments one problem is hindi tyo marunong mag ingat sa mga kagamitan nten. those f-5 jets even if they're old they can still fly supersonic and reach the speed of upto mach 2 or twice the speed of sound.. hindi lang nabigyan ng importansya wala kc magmemantain that i think is one of the problems.

if you have any junk jet fighter there, my country would love to buy them on a price equivalent to the new ones. that is a simple technique of corruption that my country is applying to get a load of bucks in the bank accounts of some of the generals in the armed forces while the regular soldiers have nothing in their wallets and their kids at home are starving and unable to go to school because of poverty, and some the generals' kids are sent to well known universities abroad

TO THE PHILIPPINE LAW MAKERS - Amend the NATIONAL DEFENSE ACT 1935. Provide a law to protect the Rank and File of AFP, most of them now are college graduate. To dismiss an Enlisted it only requires the signature of the Commanding Officer. To dismiss the Officer it requires the signature of the President. The PNP has their NAPOLCOM, the government employee has their Civil Service Commission. What about the rank and file of AFP what agency protects them?

S211 Jets is a very very old fighting jets of the Americans way back the Korean wars, the Americans had also used that plane during the early assault in Vietnam. Nowadays the S211 is a trainer Jets for Airforce College students in United States. HOW POOR THE PHILIPPINES IS USING IT AS ITS MAIN BATTLE FLEET IN MINDANAO! Damn Corruption, Damn AFP modernization.

S211.. came out in 1980s. you are completely wrong about S.211 but your point of intention is correct.
Korean war fighters are P-51, F-51, F-86, MiG-15.. and some La-5 or other piston Russian fighters from N.Korea. S.Korea used F-51 Mustang.. and a few F-86.. while the USAF mostly used F-86
actually the College Students in US.. are training with F-16A or F-16 Vista.. as of 2001 F-5s were out of training services..
S-211 is quite capable trainer and attacker.. but junk fighter

The AFP Enlisted can be dismissed from the service unjustly through the recommendation of their Commanding Officer only. Jet Fighters have this TBO(time before overhaul) and that means new parts or a whole new engine. the airframe has a maximum time before it starts to get cracks and we're gonna need awhole new plane again. These things wear out as fast as you train in them. There's fuel too. The whole country needs to make money so we can buy new toys for the air force.

@sawyerbobby I agree with you. But I'm sorry to tell you that the corruption is only 1 reason that the armed forces of the Philippines lack equipments. The top 3 reasons are: 1.)Because the Philippines is under a big internal military conflict. I mean, look at USA, China, France, Canada. They don't have any conflicts within their country right? 2.)Phases. The AFP were under a heavy modernization but we're still just in Phase 1/3. 3.)Lack of foreign suppliers. Our only supplier were the US and SK
