just a few questions... what snare are you using? are remo or what the parch? and.. what tunning are you using? low, medium, high? i hope you answer me :)
Hi, the main is a 14" Brady, the aux is a 10" Mapex Black Panther. They are both tuned fairly high on both sides without choking the sound of the drum (when you tune them too high, it sounds choked). The snare wires are pretty tight but with a tiny bit of play to let the drum sound breathe. I almost always use rimshots, that's part of my sound as well. The Brady is a great snare, it is pretty easy to get a good sound out of it.
You should do a lesson on independence with each hand, I have problems doing your grooves because my hands are independent but not THAT independent.. If you get what I'm saying?
Hey Jungleritter, you sound good! Could you tell me why you choose to hit your ride and hi-hat in that place (ex. 0:35, 3:07) and how it works for you? Thanks.
SInce I use both ends of the stick on the same cymbal I have to find a position to make this possible without twisting my wrist too much. These two positions work great for me. They deliver the right balance to produce a fairly even sound when hitting the stick with the tip and then the butt end.
I don't trigger sounds but I use some effects after recording the drums like noise gate, compression, eq and quite often a bit of distortion as well. Sometimes some subbass effects as well, means adding some sub frequencies that aren't there, like using a subkick device.
I'm usually using Vic Firths 5b's. I like the 5b's but sometimes I use 5A's as well. It really depends on what kind of music you're playing. As far as an even tone goes I would say that this comes down to practicing, the size of the sticks doesn't matter. The more time you spend on technical exercises the more even your rolls etc. will sound.
ok Ive seen alot of drummers have their first mounted tom larger than there seccond one. I noticed you have it like that, why? What does it help to have it that way?
Sorry, my reply took a while...Having the toms setup this way opens some new ways of playing fills. You should give it a try just for fun but I have to say it will also kill some of your "old" fills. I you're into playing classic fast 16ths down the toms it's probably not a good idea, if you're more into trying to come up with creative new stuff try it out, you can always put them back in the "right" order :-)
I'm from Germany but I moved to Canada about 5 years ago. I don't speak french, I live on the west coast, hardly anybody speaks french here :-) Yeah, I love those two bands but there are already SO MANY great drum covers of these two here on YouTube, I don't think I could do it better than some of the guys here..Although RATM is tempting hahaha....
I love the translations in this video. Great Drumming, Johnny Rabb is biggest influence on D&B drumming, and now you have become one of my influences too.

The technique that you're using is usually more effective if you hold the stick more towards the center and if you flatten your wrist. It allow for more constant and powerful strokes on both ends. At least that how it works when I play.
as I can see you are using only your thumb and index to move the stick, which is slower, you can do faster movements if you don't saparate your other fingers from the stick
I know what you mean but the height of the hi-hat almost dictates the use of the thumb and index without fingers. Try it out and I think you will know what I mean.

That is actually Good Stuff, it's not Moeller as he used both tip and butt end to strike. Moeller only used tip.

Hey man great vids! You got a lot of groove very nice. Hey could you by any chance start putting the bands and songs up you're playing to? Every vid I have watched of you I have really liked the music you're jamming to and would really like to know who it is. Anyway just a thought lol. Anyway keep up the good work.

The music in my videos is composed by myself, except the three playalongs (Chase&Satus/Limewax/Optical, those are clearly labeled). I´m planning of releasing a CD in a few months

Ydna, what is your cymbal setup? I really like those hats. They should like they have a big dynamic range.
